The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

The course was in good shape but it was challenging to find the entrance to the new parking lot
A Good Test
This executive course is a real test of both shot making and short game prowess.. With water and steep double-tiered greens on all 18 it requires good club selection & shot making prowess. Normally easy holes can play hard depending on wind direction. Greens are in near perfect shape. Chipping and tee area still need work and are marginal at best. A good test of golf though. Layout is great and the stretch between 14 thru 18 can't be beat!
Excellent Greens, Nice Change From Playing Longer Courses
Played early afternoon mid-week round. Tee boxes were a bit rough but rest of course was in decent shape. Greens were not fast but rolled true and speed of all greens was consistent. Course was not crowded but pace of play was very slow because we got stuck behind a threesome who fell several holes behind the foursome in front of them. Had we of teed of one group earlier, or had they let us play through, it would have been a totally different experience. Would definitely come back and actually like this shorter course as much as it’s full sized sibling (The Highlands Course).
Off season - great value
The weather couldn't have been better. great day on the golf course. Grateful to have such a nice course in the area open to the public.
Employees & staff are not always friendly. Non-member, day players like myself are often ignored and treated poorly. They seem to forget that we're paying customers too.
Played with my wife, a high handicapper. It's a good learning course for her b/c it is not long and the greens are slower than many other courses.
We loved the layout. There are some "gimme" holes, but most of the par three holes require a good shot..
Some of the greens are in sketchy condition, but overall they roll true.
The tee conditions on the red and white tees were well below average.
Overall it's a fun course with extensive Florida wildlife in abundance.
Challenging short course!
The course makes you reflect on what club to use on most shots! Fun and challenging for intermediate and advanced players!
Hidden Gem
Have played the Highlands Course @ The Meadows many times and enjoy it very much. Tried The Groves Course for the first time and find that it was in much better condition than Highlands with far more interesting greens. Although a much shorter course than I’m used to, it never seemed as if we were playing an “executive course”. Holes were fair and interesting. Greens (especially on the par 3’s) are large and undulated, allowing for a wide range of hole placements and yardages. Will definitely come back.
