The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

Great intermediate course
This is one of my faves. Mostly par 4's and some very challenging par 3's. It is very playable and not often crowded. Getting on is often easy and I often am able to finish all 18 holes in 2-3 hours. The par 4's are short (200-360?) but they layout makes them a playable challenge.
The fairways are not always totally up to snuff - the grass is uneven in spots but the layout and availability always keeps me coming back. This is my "everyday" golf round.
Nice short course. It is Very challenging!!
Back UP as usual. Can't wait to play when it slows down in April/May.
Groves at The Meadows
The Groves is an executive course I have played many times as being a former member of the Meadows Country Club.
The course like many this time of year in Florida was over played and showed the wear and tear with greens that were in ill repair and extremely slow.
What I didn't expect was the fact that although they indicate 7 minutes between tee times, they were clearly jamming as many golfers as they could on to the course. Thererfore, play was extremely slow. It took us 2 hours and 45 minutes to play the first nine holes. When we reached the 10th hole, there were three groups in front of us waiting to tee off. At that juncture our frustration reached a point where we decided to leave.
We did complain to the person in the Pro Shop who did apologize but offered only excuses for the slow play when in fact the issue was simply too many players with too little gap between tee times on a short course.
I will never play any of the Meadow courses again and certainly cannot recommend this course to anyone else based upon course conditions and pace of play,
Slow play and slow greens
We teed off at 2 pm and finished at 6:15. We followed 4 novice golfers who were sharing clubs and didn't know how to play ready golf. What should of been a 3 hour round took 4:15. We never saw a Marshall. Course conditions were generally OK. Tee boxes however were only fair. Greens had a few bare patches and were very slow despite being closely cut. This course is good for the casual round and is really geared for the novice golfer.
Par 63
Executive course . Short course no par 5, s but some challenging par 4 and 3,s. Nice place to play a practice round in 2 1/2 3 hours.friendly staff , water and clean rest rooms on the course. Conditions were ok for this time of the year, during our busy winter season. Carts are also clean and in good shape. No gps on meadows carts, but not really necessary ....2 nd shot is usually a short iron to the pin.
Met expectations
Great short course par 63 which really does play like a par 72. Great greens, nice layout with plenty of challenges.
Super Slow
Winter conditions but the greens cut higher than normal. Slower than the greens, however, was the pace of play. Should have been a ranger to move things along
Good place for irons. You get to work all your clubs.
Would be nice if the refreshment cart would start out earlier.
Course was in much better condition in November . Tee boxes were barren of grass. Greens were good speed but very poor condition . What happen to the cart GPS "s . Better places to play
