The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

Incredibly Bad
Course has gone downhill fast. Everything from tee to green in awful shape. Terrible value for the $35 they are charging. Overbooked, no oversight on course, pace of play terrible, tees, greens & approach areas not playable.
Advice: Close this course, sell the land & build houses. Never again!!!!!
Tired
Although this course has a very interesting layout, esp. for a short course, it is in pretty bad shape. We also happened to hit behind some of the slowest people of the year so far. The front nine took 2 1/2 hours for 1800 yards! We will be back to play Highlands, which we have played several times and enjoy, but, won't play Groves again.
Poor maintenance hurts Groves
They need to spend some money on course maintenance. I've played 4 or 5 others before this one and ALL were in much better condition.
It's an interesting layout, BUT poor maintenance ruins ty our enjoyment.
Service át pro shop
Booked through golfnow, received confirmation email which showed payment details. When we arrived at the pro shop, the amount they charged was higher than that indicated in the confirmation email. They said the tax in the confirmation was an estimate only! Very frustrating and annoying!
What a Mess
The course is a disgrace, You would be better off playing at the state landfill. Greens, tee boxes, fairways are a total loss.
Short but challenging
Conditions were not great - sand traps were still very wet, and grass in general was not in good shape. The course is short, but places a premium on accuracy, with quite a few sand traps and water hazards.
Jem Gone Bad
Extremely disappointed with the way management has let this gem of a course become one of the worst condition courses I have every seen, or played. The greens are shabby, some of the tees have dirt and weeds comprising most of the playable area and the fairways are fair at best. I spoke to a staff member and they agreed that the course has been very poorly maintained, and only recently has management paid any attention to the turf. Hopefully this wonderful Arthur Hills layout will be revived. It's currently about to "code" and life support will not help. Management must be really struggling to have pulled the plug on this one.
Disappointed with the conditions of course
Greens were in pretty bad shape, tee boxes weren't in great shape either.
What a mess
At one time this was a great little course but it has really gone down hill. The greens are a mess except for the 7th hole a par 3. Tee boxes are shot, greens are a mess. I hope in the future they bring back this course to it potential. But at this time I would say, save your money.
Course in the worst condition we have ever come across
Approach to the courses is very impressive but unfortunately we were VERY disappointed with the course.
The course was not marked out for yardage measures and the buggy for that course us not supplied with a distance measuring device.
We realise that we had a deal through yourselves for this course But we would never play it again even if it was offered for free. The star rating should be a maximum of 2 stars if that.
In declining shape
I had not played here for a month or so and was surprised to see that the course condition had declined. The greens we're in bad shape, the fairways we're poor and the rough was really rough. I like this course very much and I hope they will maintain it properly.
Challenging short course
I enjoy playing this course. It is short but challenging and helps me work on my short game. The course is in pretty good shape, especially considering we have had a lot of rain
Executive Golf Course
Nice layout for an executive course. Putting greens are very challenging with a lot of hills and dips. Lots of good challenging Fairways.
Great Iron Course
We always enjoy the Groves and the value is great. Greens were slow which I like and the course was in great shape.
