The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

Entertaining short course
As always in mostly good shape, fairly fast greens, pretty clean considering recent hurricanes.
Aerated Greens Roll Very Poorly.
The Groves was in great shape tee to green but it ends there. The greens were aerated weeks ago and they remain in terrible condition. Bumpy and slow. You can't get a true roll for the last couple of weeks. Hopefully, in another 2 weeks they will improve. The rest of the course is in excellent shape with very thick and deep Bermuda rough all the way up and around the greens making it a real up & down challenge with the poor green conditions. I love playing this challenging executive course when the greens recover and start to roll true again..
Nice executive course, challenging layout.
The meadows/ groves/ highlands is such a nice golf complex. They have very nice electric carts w GPS, lots of bathrooms with ice machines and water all around the course. Last year the course was in bad shape, but this year it’s really starting to come around. Groves is a quick 2 hour play which is perfect for taking my 3 year old daughter who loves being out but gets bored quickly. Course generally is not packed and because it’s mostly short holes pace of play goes pretty fast. Not a course for long hitters, only 3 driver holes pretty much, but it is great practice for irons and woods. Greens were slow but in great shape, fairways and tees were also in nice shape. I would suggest playing the course, it was a special for 18.99$ so fairly priced.
Read the fine print
Very short course although because of unmowed areas it was hard to get on green. Once on green aeration marks made putting very challenging. At least we didn’t spend too much for our rounds
The Groves
The layout was a challenging links layout. Many holes require intermediate landing spots even short ones. Although the greens were recently sanded they still roled true and were playable. Overall I recommend it for an enjoyable quick round.
A Challenging Executive Course
The Groves is an excellent Arthur Hills designed course. The wet season has improved course conditions immensely. The fairways are in great shape and the rough is a serious challenge so keeping it in the fairway is much more important The tee boxes are ok but the grass was a little too high on some of them but not too bad. The greens were aerated and need some more time to recover but should be fine in a week or so. Tough to get a true roll on recently aerated greens. Nonetheless, the speed of play and the otherwise great playing conditions make playing the Grove's a pleasure especially during hot summer days. The carts have a nice onboard GPS system and fresh ice water stations throughout the course..
Welcoming staff and good for all skill levels
Staying in siesta key for 3 weeks great course and had to re visit. Great for all skill levels and has a good range of distances for each hole to fit golfers. Super friendly staff as they looked after us and had a great round.
Great Layout but Greens Were Aerated and Sanded
The Groves is an extremely challenging executive course. designed by Arthur Hills. At 4,000 yds from the blue tees it is quite a challenge. The double-tiered sloping and crowned greens are the defense of this wonderful layout. The course tee to green is in excellent shape all around. Alas, the greens were seasonally and ffreshly aerated with sand making even short putts a toss up. I recommend playing this course in two weeks time when they have had time to heal. But otherwise this course is a true challenge to exacting ball striking. Arthur Hills designed a gem when he made the Grove's. 😊
Course was Aerated
Greens were aerated & heavily sanded. Tough to make a putt without a true roll. Rest of course is in good shape except a couple of tees needing TLC. Hole number 7 was closed for repairs. Pace was excellent for a single player at just under 2 hours for 18. Course layout and fairways were very good.. The Groves can be tricky when the wind is up for proper club selection. Greens should be fine in a couple of weeks
Excellent Course Conditions & Quick Pace
The Groves is an excellent executive course. This 4000 yd executive course is a challenging layout with 9 Par 4's, 1 Par 5, and 8 Par 3's. Water can potentially come into play on all 18 holes with an errant shots. All 18 greens are severely sloped and double-tiered making approach shots placement critical if you want to have a legitimate chance at a one putt. Fairways and greens sre in excellent shape, Pace of greens is moderate due to severe sloping greens A few tees could use a little TLC but otherwise the course is in good shape. Always fun to play this challenging layout. Highly recommended.
Fantastic
Well maintained and beautiful layout. Tee boxes and greens were in great shape. Friendly staff. Tough design for my abilities. Front nine was good, but I always struggle on the back (tired I guess).
A Great Course During Summer Heat
The Groves is a challenging executive course that requires smart course management and precise ball striking. The course is in superb shape and the pace of play was very good at 2 1/2 hours which is important during summer heat indexes near 110.. Plenty of ice water strategically located on the course. Highly recommend before the courses get crowded again..
Course is in great shape
A good test of golf. With all 18 holes having water that can come into play with errant shots, the Groves requires solid ball striking. Although only 4000 yds from the blues, I consider the stretch of holes from #11 through #18 the most dangerous consecutive stretch of holes in the county because bogey or double bogey is only one bad swing away. The enite course is in emaculate shape after the recent seasonal rains. I was lucky to have no one in front of me during my afternoon round so the pace was my own (90 minutes for 18. Golf doesn't get much better than that.
