Good course, slow play
Native Oaks is a nice track in good condition, but the last couple rounds we've played have been excruciatingly slow. About halfway through the front nine, things bogged down and we wait time between each shot got progressively longer to the point we doubted that we would finish before dark despite teeing off before noon both times. I'm not sure why it's happening but they need to fix the pace of play issues, especially considering the price for each round.
Great Visit
The staff at the pro shop, snack bar and outside crew were all exceptionally friendly. The tees, greens, fairways and rough were great. The rough was long but not too long. The sand traps need some additional attention but were still ok. It was a great experience for a great price and I recommend it to all.
Surpassed expectations
I was visiting San Diego and wanted an early tee time on New Year’s Day. Many of the more heralded courses could not accommodate, so I tried Native Oaks. Let’s start with the staff. The ProShop, starter and snack bar were all incredibly pleasant and welcoming. You warm up on mats but the course has trackman at every station, pretty cool. The fairways and greens were in incredible shape.. only complaint, some bunkers needed a little care., however, not enough for me to be any less enthusiastic. It is an interesting track which requires some thought navigating around. Not long but certainly narrow with challenging hazards. Two different nines but still harmonious in design. I highly recommend
Nice Course
Beautiful views. Nice fairways- greens were average speed. Staff were nice guys.
The bunkers
The course is way over price for the condition it is in. People where right about the bunkers if you have weeds in them you can spray them to kill the weeds .The greens had had many dead spots in them needs lots of repairs made to them. Tee boxes had a lot chewed up spots in them.
My favorite course
This course is awesome. I drive from Chula Vista just to play this course. It's in excellent shape, tee boxes, fairways, greens, all in great shape, it's a great layout, I am a single most of time, everyone I have been paired with has been nice. I highly recommend this course. I will be back again and again.
The course was perfect.
Everything was good, but it was a bit bothersome to have a cart-path-only course. My husband has knee problems, so he couldn't fully enjoy it. This was the second time; the last time we visited, it was cart-path only too. I don't know if this course is usually cart-path only or not.
Great course, missing the real grass driving range…
Love the course! Bummed on the new driving range updates. Used to be the best real grass driving range in the area. Unfortunately they just put in a new Trackman driving range, cool in theory but means you’ll be hitting off of mats now. The mats looked expensive, but definitely did not mimic real grass at all. The more “standard” mats were super grabby and the fiberbuilt tech portions felt super weird. Only good if you’re looking to confuse your game.
Slow pace of play but fun course
Spent the entire time behind a 6-some with their kids. Couldn’t finish the round from 16. Greens were pretty quick on the front 9 and slower on the back. Overall would play here again if pace of play was monitored better. Still had fun.
Almost great
Let’s start at the beginning, I booked this course after having played there at Christmas last year knowing it had a BEAUTIFUL driving range so I let my group know to show up early to warm up just to be told the range was closed,(but there where employees of the golf course hitting balls on the range!!!) tee time was 1:10 we putted and chipped for an hour then proceeded to hole 1 . The front 9 was in great shape greens where great fairways nicely mowed (rough was deep ). We make the turn and decided to get food at 3pm on a Friday mind you and THEY WHERE CLOSING THE KITCHEN and bar!! So we play the back 9 and still 7 of the 9 greens where beautiful but the fairways where Soaked!!! It hasn’t rained in weeks!!! And the areas around the greens normally fringe or first cut rough where SWAMPS ! I love this layout but the customer service and consistency needs to be better
$90 for US OPEN fairways and 7 inch roughs.
Make sure you bring 30 balls. $90 on a Saturday, first tee time out. The greens are money. 9/10. The problem with this course right now is that they refuse to mow it and it’s like 7 inches long. You can lose your ball in the fairway. It’s frustrating. It ruined the day for us. They won’t give you an additional discount or say it before you hook online.
Friday the 13th Oct 2023
Course was in great shape, great price at $50. Reason being greens were recently punched at the beginning of the month. Some greens were better than others. A couple greens had big sand spots in them, unfortunately had to take a couple putts over them. It was CART PATH ONLY, maybe a re seed? Some spots on the course were drenched in water, had to be careful not to walk into mud. We were stuck behind a very slow group but they were nice and let us pass on the turn. Back 9 we were able to play fast, felt like we were on the course by ourselves! I do love this course and make the trip out to it from Carlsbad. Trackman tracers are being installed here on the driving range, so the range is currently closed.
A gem
Super fun track, well maintained the only knock is the quality of sand in the bunkers and especially green side bunkers. Otherwise it’s become one of my favorite tracks!
TEE BOXES AND PARTNER'S ETIQUETTE
Some of the Blue tees were actually placed next to the Black tees. The Blue tees should have been further up. Also, one playing partner and his mother had terrible etiquette. He was always moving or talking during my shot. He played out of turn.
Beauty in Escondido
I played Native Oaks for the first time and enjoyed it for sure. I thought I'd get local course knowledge from the other players, but they were all visitors as well.
The front 9 really fit my eye with open fairways and doglegs you could pretty mush see around to them; the back however had doglegs that were blind and caused me to second guess the club selection.
The front and the back are very different almost as if there were two different courses in the same location. I like courses to feel the same in their look for all 18, but this did not IMO. I asked the group if they enjoyed the front or back the best and to a man except for myself they chose the back 9. I really enjoyed the company and the course is recommended by me.
Hidden jem in the valley
This course is beautiful and challenge. Staff is great. Very accommodating and friendly. Newer carts with great interactive GPS. Love Plato g here every time I get the chance.
