Solid course
Not perfect layout but a good course to test your game
An absolute Zoo
Never in my 40 years of golf have I had an experience like we had at Rolling Green. My wife and I, along with my son visiting from Ohio, joined a very nice single gentleman at the course to make up a foursome. It was a beautiful day.
I knew this was going to be a different golf experience as we waited on the first tee for the group who had teed off in front of us, four young men. As we watched and waited for these young men meander their way forward on this opening par 5, it was literally 15 minutes until we could hit our drives. It was a full 25 minutes for that foursome ahead of us to finish the hole, and they were waiting on no one for their shots.
Several holes later, with the same absolute snail pace of play (and again, no one was holding up the group in front of us), for the first time in my life I called the clubhouse and explained that we were on pace for a 6 hour round. They sent someone out who "talked" to them, and they perhaps sped up slightly.
On the 7th green, while we were putting, we were suddenly passed by 7 carts and a total of 11 additional young men, probably ages 18-21. They proceeded to the 8th tee and began (all of them) to tee off. An 11-some. We of course got to the tee before they had finished, and had a firm conversation with them about many things. They didn't care that they were rude, and they didn't care about the fact that they were essentially 2 four-somes and a threesome. Again I called the clubhouse, and about 2 holes later (and after another huge slowdown of course), they were talked to. Allegedly some left the course, but not all of them.
The second 9 was a continuation of the first. Slow play to the point of extreme aggravation. Young men in groups buzzing all over the place and whooping and hollering on fairways next to us. I've played slow before, but not like this. It was like we had stumbled onto a frat house having an outing. One has zero chance of maintaining any rhythm or focus under conditions like that.
All said, it was an absolutely horrific day of golf. Needless to say, we will never go back. I guess when the fees are on the cheap side, you get folks on the course who know little to nothing about the game. And course management probably can't afford to lean hard on folks whom I assume are their bread and butter.
playable, not perfect
first time playing here. course was pretty much what you'd expect for the money. some greens were pretty spotty, others pretty good. pace of play was enjoyable, played as a threesome without much waiting. fairways and tee boxes were so so, bunkers not so good, no rakes on course or carts? nice lunch included which made for a better value. overall, an enjoyable round even though the course conditions were only average.
No starter on a busy morning
Of course when it’s busy is a challenge for any track, but to have no one there managing the start times!
We waited on every shot for 18 holes!
Poor maintenance
Greens, patchy: sand traps, hard packed: fairways, littered with leaves (hard to find balls)
Uninspired layout.
Great food
Course is fairly easy but it’s not in gray shape. But when you’re done you can sit down for a very nice selection of sandwiches and a drink. So the day always ends on a high note.
Rolling Green
Good course for price. Nice casual eating area. Very slow greens.
Great value
Course not in the greatest shape and back 9 was closed today for maintenence but still an excellent value!
Rolling green
Too much crabgrass in fairways and on greens. Sandy bare spots on greens.
Yikes
Worst course in the area, DON’T pay more than $20 to play here
Great lunch included
Course is fairly easy. Not much water and most fairways are wide. Tee boxes are a mess. Fairways are high in spots and lots of weeds. Greens are fairly good. Best deal in town when you consider lunch is included and food is always excellent though the menu is only about 6 or 7 items. I play here regularly bc I enjoy the friendly staff and good food. The golf course leaves a little to be desired bc the property has been sold and they’re not putting any $ into fixing cart paths etc. in 2,years it’ll be condos.
Would not return
Too wet to play & the fairways & greens were patchy.Staff was friendly but that was the only bright spot.
