Sequoyah National Golf Club
About
Nestled in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, Sequoyah National Golf Club is surrounded by mature oak and fir trees. Owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee, the course is routed through flowered valleys that provide a colorful complement to the surrounding mountain views. It feels peacefully secluded but it is conveniently located less than an hour from Asheville. Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the layout. The rolling terrain guarantees a range of different elevation changes but there are also some flat holes. The golf course is a tough test, offering several forced carries over water and severe dogleg fairways. The sloped greens are no easy feat either. Proper club selection and accurate approach shots will be generously rewarded. Sequoyah National also offers an expansive practice area with a driving range and putting and chipping greens.

Great experience on a true mountain course
Nice overall value for the scenary and challenging golf fairway and greens
Ruined Greens
When I played in late July the greens had been ruined by careless course management. It's a fun course through the hills though it is way overpriced. When I played it in the past I enjoyed it though. Hope the conditions are fixed for 2013.
Great views, lousy pace.
The golf course sits on the edge of Great Smokey Mountain National Park, so the scenery was spectacular. I hit the course right after maintenance, but the greens putted reasonably well. Built into the mountains, it's mostly a target golf course, and be ready for uneven lies.
The only negative was the pace of play. Slow, slow, slow.
Nice views but that is it...
Views are what makes this golf course. Course has plenty of tee boxes to play from for players of any skill level. Some tight holes out there however the real challenge is 'knowing' the course due to elevation changes and blind shots. Overall condition of course was poor, especially the greens. A number of them had splotcy bare spots exposing dirt. To make matters worse they were slow and bumpy.
Play moved along ok however I played in the afternoon on a weekday so course wasn't very busy. Staff seemed somewhat indifferent. Can only hit medium to short irons off driving range mats. Pro shop had minimal supplies and was not in best of shape either.
Finished about 5 p.m. and everything had been locked up...no access to a bathroom even. Definitely do not cater to the customer.
If this is a top rated course in the state then I really don't have a desire to play others rated lower than this one.
Again, if you are after views this course provides all you need. Would recommend looking for another course to play.
Bring your A-game
The course is a great test of golf. If you’re not a straight hitter you’re in for a long day.
This is true Mountain golf, up and down on every hole except some of the par 3’s.
You can get a good deal on golf now, the rates if you walk on are a little
Steep. Plus be ready for about a five hour round, it’s tough and quite a few of
The holes you have to walk to your ball. I would play it again just to hit shots from 200 feet above the fairway, the ball seems to be in the air for ever.
Very beautiful and fair
I have played other mountain courses and this one played very well and is incredibly beautiful. Very much worth the money
Scenic and challenging
The course has impressive scenic views from every tee box. Challenging length but not unreasonable. It also offers a good challenge for shot making and accuracy. We wanted to play twice during our vacation so I went out on a limb and scheduled both tee times sight unseen. We were well pleased! The greens and bunkers were in excellent condition. For the most part the fairways were good also. We will play this course again on any return trips to this area. Bring extra golf balls. If you do hit an errant shot then you have just donated to the course but then this is mountain golf. The few donations that we did make were a small price to pay to have the priveledge to witness such natural beauty!
Awesome!
Golf course had great variety. The bent grass greens were almost perfect. A true mountian course.
Sequoyah National is a very good golf course. This is a true mountain course. The bent greens were almost perfect. Will definitely visit again when there is more daylight so we can get in 36.
Amazing course, super friendly and helpfull stuff
All I can say is WOW. This is just a jewel of a Golf Course. Absolutely amazing and if you are in the area, play it, play it twice. We did play 2 rounds. The greens where not the absolut best (7 out of 10) but this course has everything. Views, nature, up and down, distance, difficulty and lots of beauty!
All Par 5 are easily reachable from the Tips but require great club selection.
The staff is absolutely great, friendly, helpful and we will be back as soon as possible.
Nice mowed fairways, Elevated fast greens, This course has it all.
Sequoyah National
Course was in pretty rough shape. Several greens were very bad. Course is challenging with many risk reward tee shots! Views made up for the poor conditions. Will definitely play again. The two guys we played with booked on another site, and paid significantly less than we did, so check around before booking on golf now.
Very pretty views, but not quality mountain golf, especially in it's current condition
This is certainly NOT 9th best course in NC, (or the 19th).
The property is much too hilly for enjoyable golf, even for a single digit handicap golfer.
The greens were a disgrace, but much of that could be the drought. Even though I asked the staff about conditions before booking a tee time, I was very disappointed with what I found.
A side note, after finishing playing around 4:30 PM in
mid August, I was very surprised to hear the staff refuse to allow a twosome that had driven 50+ miles & wanted to tee off at 5 to play, saying "We close at 5".
Greens not as good a year before. Fairways lost lots of grass
Played here 3 times and course got worst each time out. Overpriced for condition
