The Chimney delivers consistently impressive conditions with plush fairways, well-manicured rough, and excellent greens that keep golfers returning. Exceptionally welcoming staff and a thoughtfully designed layout away from surrounding development make every round memorable.

About

Holes 18
Type Public

Length 6500 yards
Slope 127
Rating 71.4

The Chimneys Golf Course features 18 holes of exceptional golf. Our signature feature is the abundance of native rock found on-site, intricately hand-laid throughout the course to accent our greens, fairways, and pedestal tees. With strict attention to detail and no homes in sight, the course plays as a par 72, just shy of 6500 yards over five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all abilities. Combined with southern, hometown charm, The Chimneys is an experience unlike any public course in north Georgia.

Not the same

I have played Chimneys for years and was a fan of and former member, but will never be again. The new management has changed things and made the course more profitable but conditions and player experience is not was it use to be. The pace of play is slow with no rangers to monitor course play or tee off times. The last time we played we asked the male manager Micheal to have someone check and see what was holding players back and let him know there was a multiple hole gap between the groups in front of us and there were three groups backed up on the last tee box behind us, but his response was there was no where to go and didn't want to do anything. His attitude since has been horrible. The condition of the course including the rough is not kept. They are adding plants and barriers but can't mow the rough. There are more things to mention but the bottom line is this is not the course or experience that I use to enjoy.

Bizarre but in a good way.....

I have had my eyes on The Chimneys for a while and finally got out there. The pace of play was very solid and the first few holes are quite appealing. As you get deeper into the course you realize it is a little strange to play a course with so few par 3's and 5's......most of the course is par 4's. A few of the greens are driveable which is interesting and definitely gives you a chance to score (even players who are typically in the 225 range off the tee will have a shot to score reasonably here). At times the course was a little confusing to find your way around. Ran into the sprinklers on a couple of greens which was mildly irritating as I would have hoped they ran them prior to golfers getting on the course for the day. The course was in very good shape and the greens rolled quite true and the speed was actually very solid and bordering on the faster side of things.

Overall it was a nice and I will very likely be back there. Do I think it is worth $50......probably......would I continue to pay $50 to play the course.....most likely not. I could see the course becoming a bit boring if you were to play it multiple times in a year.

Great Course - book a round you wont be disappointed

Played here in the build up to Maters week, what a great experience.

Will start with the staff, massive thank you for making us feel welcome, coming from Scotland the staff took an interest in what golf is like over here. Made us feel very welcome and had a good seat out enjoying the heat after the round with a few drinks, much appreciated.

The course itself is fun, lots of risk/reward holes, but it is very fair, can easily get round without too much trouble. Greens were rolling great, nice pace on them and very true.

Pace of play was great, got round here really quickly.

My only regret was not getting some food at the food truck! Maybe next time.

If your in the area, get along, you will have a great day.

Best in the area

I haven’t played a better course in the Winder area. The course provides some challenge without making it miserable for us less experienced golfers. Greens weren’t in the best shape, but overall the course was very good. For the money it’s hard to beat.

Like a salad

Like a salad this course has mixed greens. Greens were in good shape but speed was inconsistent which made putting very challenging. Love the layout. Very picturesque.

A fun and somewhat challenging course

This is a great course that requires some well placed shots to make a good score. The greens are always in good shape but will be slower later in the summer as it heats up.

Simply not worth it anymore

While it is early in the season the course is just not in good enough condition to warrant what the new management has increased the prices to. I have been playing here for 4-5 years and have noticed a decrease in course quality with a significant increase in price. Too many better local options for the money to go back.

Couldn't agree with you more. I used to play there a lot for the value but there are better courses for the same money. Also, the last few times I played there, the ball marks on the greens were ridiculous so I called one day mention it and they kind of put it off on the newer golfers. I told them the newer golfers weren't the ones leaving ball marks near the pins. Oh well...
