About
The three different nines at Carolina National Golf Club are named after the birds that inhabit the acres of beautiful low country that the course sits on. Fred Coupes designed the 27-hole layout, taking care to preserve the beautiful natural landscape and wildlife provided by its location on the shores of the Lockwood Folly River. His work earned the golf course designation as an Audubon Sanctuary. The nines: Ibis, Egret, and Heron; all have different challenges. However, they all have challenging greens that boast some of the best conditions in the area. The Ibis is the most player-friendly of the nines. Carolina National Golf Club's 27-hole layout is played as three different 18-hole combinations. The Ibis offers some opportunities to recover your score since it is not quite as long as either the Egret or Heron.

Nice layout with variety among the three 9s available. Great value for the money. Friendly, welcoming staff and members.

Morning Chaos
We had 16 in our group, but you cannot come out and tell us that we need to speed our pace of play up when you get us off the first tee 10 mins late because you are so chaotic at the master starter you let two other groups off before us. Then we leave a bag in our cart so I called the pro shop that evening and they said they would try and locate it. When I called back this morning they said they didn’t find it and basically hung up on me. I don’t think this is worth the drive unless they make changes to their staff.
National a Solid Course
Great layout. The holes proved interesting and challenging. The greens were in good shape and ran true.

Beautiful Day !
The course was in great shape. Very fast greens! Pace of play was slow but it was very crowded. So as long as you don't mind a 5 hour round I would recommend this course.

Always a great course and layout
I have played here every year for the past 7 years when coming to the beach. The layout's of all 3 9's are great. In spite of 2 inches of rain the night before the course was playable although muddy in spots. The grounds crew had there hands full however the greens were excellent as always. The layout is challenging but you can still score. The views and shot values along the inter coastal is what makes this course one of my favorites. Look forward to coming back every year.

Challenging layout -Fast greens
Carolina National is a course you can play every day and always feel challenged. The course was in great shape, very fast but true greens and a tough rough if you wander. I played the Ibis and Egret nines on Saturday and finished in 4 hours which was good for a weekend round. Two areas that needed attention were the cart paths and the bunkers. In all fairness it had rained more than 2 inches over night and bunkers showed it.

Pace of place and pairing needs attention
Course was great unfortunately pace of play was slow paid for a buddy and myself and got paired with 2 guys that played way slower than us other than that course was excellent

Course has three nines
Layout of holes was great-bunkering was well positioned to reward accurate shots. A lot of bare spots entering and exiting fairways..Fairways were in great shape but the rough was a little too long-couldn't find balls.Greens were very fast and were just sanded so in two weeks greens will be great

Bad timing
Today's round got off to a bad start before i even made it to the course. Playing partner called and tee time had been pushed back a half hour. Probably not a big deal to most but we work 2nd shift so it made all but impossible to play 18 and make it to work on time. The pace of play didn't help that at all. 9 of the 27 holes were closed for top dressing greens and a second 9 were already done. None of that was disclosed but the staff was nice enough to allow a rain check for our second 9. The 9 we did play was in excellent shape though. I've played here many times and will continue to it just wasn't meant to be today though.

Slow going
Shouldn’T take 5 hours to play this course. Need Marshall’s out there.

A nice facility
Carolina National is a very nice place to play golf.
The pro shop, bar, restaurant, practice areas, and fairways were terrific.
Usually the greens are also in great shape, but they were not fully recovered and were not up to par.
We somehow dodged the Thursday downpours, so we were very pleased overall!
One of the nicest courses in Brunswick County.
