Fun course
Lost greens in summer heat, lots of sand, good fairways, wonderful lay out.
4.3 Star Rating...HOW?
I played this course on 09/06/2015. Very interesting course and nice layout, although too narrow for everyday golfers. This course has some big "kahunas" to be charging the rates they do right now. The fairways were showing signs of drought distress, which indicates the facility is being miserly about irrigation, and the greens were in HORRIBLE shape!! All but a few were riddled with bare spots, and they will lose them real soon. This facilioty is still using bent grass in the NC summer heat, and it's well documented that bent grass does NOT survive well in the heat of our summers. They NEED to convert to Bermuda greens like MOST facilities in our area. Charging $50 to play before 2pm and $40 after 2pm for the conditions on this course and especially the BAD greens will keep me away until someone tells me they have fixed these problems.
Potential to be really nice.
This course has a great layout and the fairways were in above average shape. Most of the greens were completely burnt up. Some tee boxes haven't been mowed in a while. Course has a lot of potential but it needs a little more attention to the greens. Some where just packed sand.
Bad greens
This course is great but right now the greens are in very tough condition. There is a lot of dead areas on the greens. I'll definitely be back when I hear the greens are back to normal
TT
Normally love to play here, but the greens were in realy bad shape. Fairways however were in great shape.

Great layout, but the greens are terrible!!
My friends and I made a weekend trip down to Tillery Tradition to play this course specifically. One of my friends had played it once before, over a year ago, and really enjoyed it. Are plan was to play two rounds, but needless to say once we played the first 4 holes that was out of the question. The course lay out and the tee boxes were great, as well as the bunkers. Unfortunately for them they have bent grass greens and they have lost them completely, due to the heat and the lack of rain. They did however try and place all of the pins where you at least had a clean 7 foot put. Slow greens, nice fairways and bunkers. Hopefully they can get the greens back but right now, until I read a good review about how they are back to normal and quick. I will not be making the hour and a half drive down there.
course is excellent
fairways are green and plush and clubhouse is beautiful. only problem is the same one so many courses in our area have. the past winter had single digit weather and the summer has been unusually hot and dry and it wreaks havoc on the greens. Most have minor issues but some are in bad shape. oddly enough though, I putted better than normal, so who am I to say? would love to see and play this course again when these issues are resolved.
Great Course but the Greens are currently in bad shape
This is a very nice course but it seems the greens have been affected by some sort of grass disease. I don't believe it's because they are dried out/drought. Definitely will come back but will wait awhile. Great course layout though - worth the drive.
Greens have been lost
The greens have been all but lost, some worse than others. They should cut the fees in half based on the conditions of the greens...otherwise love the course layout.
Love this course!
Course was great as always. Nobody in front of us enjoyed it like we were private members playing on a Monday! A few greens were burnt but flags were placed perfect so it didn't affect putting. Worth the drive if your from Charlotte, better than any public course around the greater Charlotte area. Best bang for your buck around!
Greens are in very rough shape
I really enjoy this layout and have played it several times but was very disappointed with my experience on 7/18/15. The greens were in VERY poor shape. There were large sandy patches with no grass on most of the greens. A few were nearly impossible to putt on. Those that did have grass were very furry, bumpy and wet. Also when our threesome wanted to play an additional nine holes we were told they "don't let anybody out after 5:00 PM." On a Saturday? Bizarre. Will most likely return but will give it some time.

great course great layoutenjoyable to play would definitely go back again
Great Course for the value
Played this course 3x over my week stay. This course is amazing. Great layout(although the first time playing is hard cause you are not sure where to hit some tee shots) Greens this year were a little more brown than last year. The fairways were in amazing shape and the course has so many great holes. The terrain makes this course so much fun. I played Pinehurst #3 the next day and I can say without a doubt this is a much better course, and for a lot less money. I look forward to playing next year when we go back to the lake house!
Beautiful Course and Enjoyable Round!
Really pretty course and fun to play. We played on a Tuesday, and felt like we were the only ones on the course. The course was very fair, not many bunkers and not much water.
Will definitely play again!
Can't wait to play it again.
Great course. Best part is no there are only a few houses on the course. Unlike most all other courses. I saw lots of wild life on the course the last time I played, Bald Eagles, Deer, even saw a beaver.
Secret Gem
This a must play. I'm from the area & never thought bout playing here, man was I wrong. From the beginning, the drive up & you see the club house it's amazing. The staff was so friendly. Now for the course itself is very challenging if you dont put your ball in the right place. Plenty of down hill blind shots. Even if you are playing bad you'll enjoy the scenery & how well kept this course is. I'm coming back ASAP. I REALLY LOVE THIS COURSE
Great course on Lake Tillery
Played on a Sunday afternoon in intermittent light rain. The greens are in great shape, and the rest of the course is coming along. It should be perfect by the time summer rolls around. My only complaint about the greens were how slow they were. I could never get the speed down. This was echoed by another golfer in a group I played through. While this course is on Lake Tillery, the lake never comes into play on the course. There are several blind dogleg tee shots and elevated tee boxes where course knowledge is a big help. Some of the greens also have small areas or 'fingers' where it can be tough to get at the hole if it's placed there. The clubhouse is fairly new and is really nice. I haven't eaten there but I've heard the food is really good.
nice layout
one of the best layout I ever played. one of the worst fair condition I ever played. green is just fine
Less than I expected
Tee boxes had very little grass. Fairways having hard time recovering from winter conditions. Several greens are patchy and struggling. Would likely give it another shot in the fall.
