Tough but Fun
This is a very fun course with lots of elevation changes and semi-blind shots. If you plan to play this course for the first time, its best if you play this course with someone familiar with the terrain to help guide you.
The course itself was in very good condition. A couple of the fairways had some spots where the grass was burnt up. The greens with the exception of one on the back side were in really good shape. There is a par 3 on the back side that was supposed to have 3 tiers, but they have let the top tier go. Its now overrun with weeds. Several greens have back stops depending on the pin placements. Utilize them to your advantage. Tee boxes were in good condition, but not all of them give you nice level surfaces. in addition, be forewarned that there are not many level surfaces to hit from on the course.
All in all its a good course. We drove in from Charlotte and its probably worth the drive once maybe twice a year.
Hard but so much fun
Tot Hill is a tough course but a whole lot of fun. Shot placement is key. Will be back!
Thrill-a-minute
Bring your A game here. Every hole has at least one shot requirement that, if not executed correctly, will result in double bogey or more! If you thought Pete Dye was evil then the late Mike Strantz has him one-upped on this one. Must be experienced to be believed. Tip: choose your tee box wisely!
Thrill-a-minute!
Better bring your'A' game to this tract & choose the right tees! Hardly a 'breather' hole on this course & if you thought Pete Dye was evil, Mike Strantz has him one-upped on this one! Every hole presents a challenge where just one bad shot will result in double bogey or worse...if you can break 80 here, consider it an accomplishment!
A Course Design Gem!!!!!!
The fairways had some noticeable effects from winter kill like most course in the area, but the overall layout of the course and the detail in every fairway, green is like no other. Elevation changes from tee to green, slopes, up hill, down hill lies. Not two shots are the same. This course is a architectural dream and master piece!!!
Tot Hill
Cart path needs attention and also steps up to several tee boxes . Nice golf course and great staff.
Too many hackers
Too many hackers who think a 6 hr round is fun. This course is easy if you drive it straight but isn't for everyone.
A challenging, yet friendly and fun to the eye course.
This course will be both challenging for the serious golfer, and playful for the casual one. The greens offered many opportunities to have fun with putting, though they were spacious they were challenging. This serious golfer will appreciate the play making and shot taking abilities this course has two offer. Overall the forest and rock for missions will make you both smile and shiver.
Fun Fun Fun
Played on a beautiful but windy day which made this challenging course even more difficult. The greens were in great shape and i'm sure when the weather warms enough to green the fairways then the whole course is going to be terrific. It is a beautiful layout on a great piece of land. We are def. going back. The lower star ratings are only because of wet winter and dormant fairways. That will change!!
Great day at Tot Hill
The course received steady rain for several hours on the morning of this round but cleared off in time for the tee time.
The greens and fairways played well despite the wet conditions.
Tot Hill is one of my favorite venues and this round was no exception. We truly enjoyed the beauty of the course and the challenge of the lay out!
Tot Hill Farm
Enjoyable round of golf. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The course was in great shape. It is very challenging but fun to play. Don't plan on shooting your best score here. The course is scenic, wooded, and quiet. No city noises to worry about here. I would highly recommend this course if you are in the area.
Not that hard!
Day was sunny and warm! Course wan't as difficult as I thought! Very slow round though 5 hour round. Cool layout but Tobacco Road is so much better!
Golf "On the Rocks"
Tot Hill Farm is a shining example of the great vision course architect Mike Strantz had. The layout incorporates many elevation changes, a lot of natural rock formations and a diabolical meandering creek that seems to come into play on every hole. This beautiful course is wickedly picturesque and presents ample challenges for even well seasoned players-after all, it was rated as the top ten hardest in the U.S. several years ago. Keep it in play away from the rocks and the creek and you will have an enjoyable, memorable round. However, if you hit it a little sideways, you will want to take a few extra balls and try the Moonshine Lemonade-it will cushion the blow to your ego. This is a track you will want to go see and play -just so you can tell your friends that you played golf on the rocks!
Great challenging course but.....
Everyone should play this course. But just like other courses I've played, I think because one pays a hot rate, but the course looks at you differntly. 2nd time we have played being a 5-some. This is not the only course that has done us like this. But all in all great course. Just hope and pray you don't get behind "members" Or locals because they do what they want...
Great course but slow play
I've played Tot Hill a number times and its always in good to great shape, but the last few times I've played its been really slow. I played on a Tuesday at 10:50 and didn't finish until 3:40. There were no marshalls anywhere to be found. It wasn't a busy day. I'll definitely go back and play many more times but the pace of play needs attention. Another 4 hour and 50 minute round during the week could change my mind though.
you'll think your in the mountians
Nice course, lots of blind shots, and elevations changes. You'll never get a flat lie outside of the tee box.
Great test of golf
Scenic course with plenty of asceticly pleasing boulders; greens very fast and huge. Take your time putting or you will experience the par just on the greens. Friendly staff and we will return!
tot hill at 40 degrees
as tough as expected. decent condition for late Nov. no bathrooms on course surprising.
Wow
The character of this course is amazing, from green complexes to layout is unbelievable. Course is playable enough and slopes rewards good golf shots. Must play anytime in the area.
