Challenging Tot Hill course
Beautiful and challenging course. Bring extra balls, you may lose a few, especially with the leaves this time of year. Breathtaking views with beautiful rolling hills. Need to bring your A game for this course!
Wonderful views
Great golf course will test your skills
All the shots are needed to play this course
beautiful to the eye
Must play more than once
Challenging course
This course is all about elevation changes. Steep uphill and downhill holes will make you think a lot about club selection. The greens were quick but true.
Need to go back.
At each hole, you have no clue where to hit the ball. After playing the hole, there really is a lot more room than you thought.
The course was in great shape, greens reasonably quick and rolled true. Only complaints were no drinking water on the course and people not fixing divots. I'm not sure if its the members or what, either way it was ridiculous. I literally fixed at least 5-7 on each green, because they were in my putting line.
This course is definitely a must play if you're in the area. It's fun and it makes you think.
It needs some help!!!
This course facility would be so much better if they would have course marshals patrolling for excessively slow play!!! No course should take more than 4 1/2 hours to play---even with walking foursomes. We, as a threesome, were stuck between groups and it took 5 1/4 hours to play!!! In my opinion, totally unacceptable. Other than the pace of play, everything else was great!!! It's a Mike Strantz design, so the unexpected is expected.
Drinking water on course???
Great course, very challenging, especially around the greens. Doesn't take much to blow up a good score with all of the hazards. Must keep the ball out of hazards and play smart. Only issue is the lack of drinking water on course. As much as it cost to play, the least they could do is make sure there is water on at least 1out of every 5 holes when it is over 75 degrees. Ridiculous.
Great course but SLOW
This is a beautiful course but it took us - a twosome - over 5 1/2 hours to play. A foursome several groups ahead of us was doing a captain's choice and slowing everyone down. A ranger should have pushed them along. We waited on EVERY hole.
worth $ pack a lunch
Tee time 1230 played first 9 holes in decent time- probably 2 hours. during the back 9 i grew a beard! had to be 3 hours. finished 18 in over 5 hours. I live about an hour and 20 min from the course and i got home 9 hours after i left home. 9 hours!!!!!!
I only lost 2 tee balls- so the course isn't that hard- if you hit one in the woods just rehit or drop one- 5 hours is way too long.
Some greens have false fronts (and sides!) - hard to tell from fairway. some holes you have to just play for a bogey and be happy.
drive landing area are larger than it appears form the tee- but the greens will almost surely add 5-8 strokes to your round- some small greens with large elevation change. pray you do not get pin #2 on your first round.
Most fun ever
This course is fantastic it is the most fun I have ever had playing a round of golf the course is not gimmicky it is actually quite fair. Dramatic views and changes in elevation Bent grass greens were in good condition and much larger than expected. Will definitely return. This will be my top recommendation for out-of-state visitors.
lots of fun
This is one of my favorite course . It is very fun to play but if you think about score it is not a course you can score well. This course is really tough. So many hazards rough is tough greens are tough too. But if you want to enjoy your day golfing it will be perfect.
Wow!!!
A slope of 144 at 6543 yards says it all. You'll use every club and you had better hit them straight and know how far each goes. Extreme elevation changes, long forced carries and many false fronts. Bunkers, fairways and greens in excellent shape in a beautiful setting. Friendly staff. Not a course for beginners.
Tough Track
Only complaint was the course can really chew up mid-high to high handicappers and that slows the pace down. 10:30 tee time on a Wednesday took 4 1/2 hours.
Everything else is great - especially for the value.
First visit to Tot Hill Farm
On my first visit to Tot Hill Farm I came away quite impressed. This Mike Strantz gem is a pure joy to play. He used the rolling hills and rock formations to perfection. Many of the greens were devilish and fun to play. Will be back as often as possible.
Tot Hill Farm
It seems to me that course conditions have been allowed to decline substantially over the years. It is not as we'll kept as it has been in past years. Fairways and greens good but around the edges need work.
I wish I lived closer!
I purchased the $30 unlimited golf after 3pm tee time from golf now. I made it through 2 full rounds and couldn't be happier.
The course really makes you think about where to place the ball. The greens were a little soft and slow, but overall, the course was in pretty decent shape for the amount it's played.
Only down-side: one of the ladies in the club house was pretty rude. It killed a good bit of the environment.
unique course
Course was in great shape & fabulous layout.
Only quip would be that there wasn't a cart girl all day on a Friday for beverages or food.
Never disappoints
Beautiful course challenging makes you use every club in your bag. Must play in North Carolina
Tough but very fun
Toughest course I have ever played at, but it is a very intriguing course. Be sure to take a lot of "junk" golf balls because of the many hazards.
Great Staff
I have been playing Tot Hill for many years and I never write reviews but in this case I had to. Alan Martini is one of the most cordial individuals I have ever met at a course let alone in my life. He took the time to help us plan a trip to the sandhills for the next day and spent much time just talking with us about golf and life experiences. The rest of the staff was just as nice. You owe it to yourself to play what I think is a fine course and the staff makes it that much better. Thanks ALAN
Great course design
The design was one of the greatest I have played. It has elevation changes and shots that will let you decide how much you want to cut off on a tee shot to give you a chance to get to a par 5 in two but at the same time it is very deceiving. they had just watered many of the greens to cool them down so the front nine had some standing water on about 4 greens but it was still very easy putting. On the back side the water had drained and it was excellent putting. Would love to play again.
I think I used every club in the bag so the shots I had to make varied greatly. 160 down hill, 160 up hill and there were a couple that were flat but very interesting golf course and fun to play. Once we got past the third 4th hole we saw no other golfers until 14.
The course was and out of the way course but was well worth the time, money and very enjoyable.
