Challenging but fair.
Not a bombers course. Only 6600 from tips. You need to place ball. Miss on wrong side and your dead! Nice views from several areas. Don't look for possible lost balls, there could be creepy crawlers among the rocks in the summertime.
Great course
Fairways were in excellent shape as were the greens. Really enjoy playing here despite the challenge that the course presents.
Good place to play
Course requires good ball striking, but is a lot of fun to play. Large, undulated greens are tough to read, but are in nice shape and roll pretty true. Fairways should be beautiful in another week or two.
One of a kind course that every golfer has to play at least once!
Great course for an unbelievable price! Very difficult but yet not frustrating. Incredible views with elevation changes and great scenery. Huge greens with a lot of undulation. You must play this course!
Great course
Unbelievable experience in golf. I love comming to tot hill. Wide open fairways . 7th toughest in America but a good player can score good. Bring your a game !! It's unlike any course in the state.
it was very beautiful
I would hate to have to walk this course. It is very hilly and the tees are spread apart. But this is a one of kind design. The rocks and streams running through this place is a masterpiece. After the day even if you did not play your best you will be glad you were there to see it.
Unique course
We did a week golf vacation and this was my favorite. It is cool, lots of high slopes and giant boulders right in the fairways. My husband would disagrees, he lost soooooo many balls ;) I really enjoyed this course.
Good layout.
Really enjoyed course and would definitely play again.
Challenging Adventure
Great course, will play again and again! Everyone should play here.
Gimicky course. Nice views. Up & Down hills all day.
The staff was snooty. The course needed manicuring. Too many severe elevation changes.
very challenging and interesting
This course is very challenging and interesting.
Green is also very difficulty.
Rouding is a adventure such as "Golf Exploration".
Find a deal and go have fun!!
This a wonderfully challenging and sometimes baffling course. Everytime I play it, I find something new, fun, maddening, and a reason to go back and try again.
Bring your draws, your fades, your cuts, and your stingers. You need all of your shots here... straight don't play, but neither does short... or long... or daring... or safe. Know your distances, your true distances, because this course demands quality and precise shots and decisions to go low.
This course more than anything is one to have FUN at while playing. If you take yourself, or your game TOO serious, you'll go mad unless you really are that low single digit player. Read your putts carefully and really make sure of your shots before you pull the trigger and you'll be fine. Maybe.
The course has some great views and elevation changes.
Great value for the $25 per player we booked for. The greens rolled smooth enough even though they have not fully recovered from the aerification they under went some time back. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Some of the most difficult holes you will play at a public course but also has some of the funnest holes to play.
What a steal!!
Tot hill farm has always been a fun option away from the raleigh/durham area. Its a little farther a drive than most being in asheboro but its not terribly hard to get there right off 64. We played 2 days after a good rain and the course drained pretty well. Think it was cart path only on 3 holes. There are plenty of birdie opportunities and i like that theres strategy involved. You don't have to hit driver every hole but for the most part the landing areas are pretty generous so bombs away. Its a little more generous than sister course tobacco road. $17 on a friday afternoon was better than anything in raleigh/durham you could find for the same price. Definitely worth the trip. Much better value than most in the triangle.
Beautiful course with ample challenges. Pull the right club.
It'd been 4 years since I'd played THFC, so the two main things I remembered was that it's a gorgeous and challenging layout. My memory was correct and the course didn't let me down. Two of our foursome had never played the course and were mentally prepped. Several times thru the round I heard "you were right..." We all had a great time and played it pretty well. Club selection is key! We will be back.
Pace of Play
The pace of play was slow when I went, but I feel that was mainly due to the fact that it was the day after thanksgiving.
Great experience
Got a great rate on Golfnow and decided to make the 2 hr drive to play THF...and glad I did. The staff was super friendly and the course was spectacular. I had no idea that Asheboro had such significant elevation changes, but THF proves that it does. The course is as tough as advertised, but I take exception to the characterization that it's 'tricked up.' A better description is the course has character. If you're in the area, I highly recommend testing your abilities on this track.
Very difficult
You must be a great ball striker to perform well at this course! Lots of fun to play, but very difficult for the average golfer. Some of the holes on the front 9 are the most unforgiving I have seen!
Designer course using hills to the nth degree
The course is sculpted out of the local sandhills and gorgoeous use of the rocks. Tough track the needs a couple of rounds to get a sense of the best shots to play.
course design is a masterpiece from Stranz just before his death.
Always an excellent experience. Could have used a little maintenance with the leaf blowers on some of the greens. Never had any problems in the past with course conditions
