Great course
I play this course fairly regularly now do to how they maintain it. Always in good shape.
Overpriced
Really like the layout but course is overpriced. No twilight rate either, greens are super slow and bumpy. (Partly bc people don’t fix their ball marks…STOP BEING LAZY PEOPLE AND FIX YOUR BALL MARK!!)
Club house also over charged us by $100 and had to dispute.
Fantastic course
Carolina Lakes is in the heart of a planned community, although it winds through a housing development, the houses aren’t intrusive and it’s a very expansive course. Many holes you have a lot of room and options off the tee. There are some intimidating forced carries if you let them bother you but if you play the right tees you’ll be fine. Bunker placement is strategic, so bring your range finder to determine the carries, although many holes you have the room to avoid instead of trying to fly them.
Clubhouse is nice, the restaurant is nice. Be warned, cart path only can be tiring because there are a lot of hills. Driving range is nice. It’s a semi private course with a membership that they keep it real nice for. The conditions were very good. Definitely worth the trip and the price is good for what you get.
Nice layout
You would need to play this course several times to really know the best place to put your tee shot or best place to be on the green. Great condition though the greens are on the slow side. Absolutely huge traps and greens but a great layout and loved the course.
Tremendously Overpriced
I decided to return to this course after a 2 year hiatus as the last time I played the greens were completely burnt and borderline unplayable.
Positives: 1) Pace of play 2) Fun and challenging layout 3) Burnt greens have been repaired
Negatives: Upon approaching the 9th hole, there were 2 trucks and 3 greenskeepers in the bunker guarding the green. At one point I thought the green was under repair but I decided to play and literally hit an approach shot over them. Upon reaching the green, it turns out they were just on their break and hanging out, They didn’t even move when one of the players in my group had to hit a bunker shot a foot away from them. I have never seen anything like this in my life. On top of this, the course itself was fine at best, not very well kept and the greens were extremely slow, especially given it hasn’t rained. The fact that this course is +$100 on a weekend is clinically insane, I have no idea who would pay that type of price, there’s plenty of other and better options in the area. This course should be $70 at most (which is what I paid for a weekday round)
Very Nice Course, Staff Excellent
We played on a hot Friday in June. It is a wonderful course. Front 9 not quite as hilly as the back. Course was fair and greens were good. Not too fast, but fast enough. We had fun, but will not golf there on such a hot day. Even with a cart it was brutal. We recommend this course.
Carolina Lakes Golf Club Review
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Carolina Lakes Golf Club, and I must say it was in superb condition. The staff at the reception area were hospitable, friendly, helpful, and very professional. The course itself was immaculate, with beautifully maintained greens that offered great ball speed. The overall ambience was amazing — very green and almost heavenly. I highly recommend Carolina Lakes Golf Club as a top destination for anyone looking to enjoy a fantastic round of golf.
Carolina Lakes
Course was tougher than I remembered. A lot of hills, so much so that very often didn't have a level stance even when in the fairway. Also bring your sand toys because there is a lot of beach on just about every hole. Kind of surprised by the level of difficulty given that it's the center piece of a 55+ community.
Not A Good Choice
This course is very poorly managed and drastically overpriced. Slowest play around and just not worth the money. Choose one of the other far better choices in the Charlotte area and truth be known that would include all of the other choices. NO idea why so many people are wasting money at this course but they won't get any more of mine.
Double tee times!
On a Sunday they were sending groups off the front and back...creates a log jam at turn and a pleasant round becomes 5 1/2 - 6 hours. And they charge 99 bucks for this!
Tee times every 5 minutes
They made tee times every 5 minutes to increase profits. No course I ever played has ever had 5 minute tee times on weekends.
Wayyy overpriced
This course is way overpriced. So many other courses in the Charlotte area that charge $85 at most for weekend golf that are better. $109 is crazy for an average course.
Decent Course. Way Too Expensive
I've played this course for a few years now, and I've always liked it. However, the prices are getting a bit out of hand. I used to be able to justify paying $80 here a year or two ago (although that still felt a bit expensive for the quality of the course) and now they're charging a whopping $110! It's a decent course, but it's no where near worth paying $110. I can't justify paying that much for what is an average course in my opinion. I won't be playing here unless they decide to lower the prices or if the quality of the course increases so much that it's worth the price.
Way Overpriced
This course is priced far to high for the value received. The pace of play is slow and frustrating and there are simply many more options in this market that are far better.
