Devlin and VonHagge designed this course, which challenges even experienced golfers. It has been rated by Golf Digest to be among the 50 top courses in the United States. The signature hole on the Championship Course is #12, a 452-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot through a cypress forest to an island green.

This 7,161 yards, par 71 course has narrow fairways, a deep rough as well as plenty of water and bunkers. Enjoy the fast greens and the excitement of knowing you're on one of the best.

A little disappointed

The tee boxes are very bad. A few of the greens were rough. The pace of play was slow (almost five hours). It was just not worth the $75 a player. I used to play there frequently about fifteen years ago and thought it was great. Fortunately my son still had a good time. He is newer to the game.

Nice Track

The conditions of Colony West for our round were very good. Although there are still a few "thin" spots on the fairways from summer flooding, overall they are in good - very good condition. The tee boxes show the wear of being a public golf course but were completely acceptable.

The greens roll true and quick, with the exception of a multitude of ball marks. For some reason the golfing public is south FL simply refuses to repair their ball marks or rake traps. Greatly frustrating!

The course has recently upgraded their fleet of golf carts to nice, new electric carts. It seems that they should have acquired a few more, however. When we arrived, approximately 30 minutes early, there were none to be had. Amazingly, the starter was able to get us out basically on time.

The staff, by and large, are very good and friendly. The one exception; Bernadette. Apparently, she either 1) lost her dog, 2) missed her morning coffee, or 3) just isn't very nice. Too bad...
