Devlin and VonHagge designed this course, which challenges even experienced golfers. It has been rated by Golf Digest to be among the 50 top courses in the United States. The signature hole on the Championship Course is #12, a 452-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot through a cypress forest to an island green.
This 7,161 yards, par 71 course has narrow fairways, a deep rough as well as plenty of water and bunkers. Enjoy the fast greens and the excitement of knowing you're on one of the best.

Needs work
If you’re going to charge your patrons $74 a round then the course should reflect the amount paid. I’m not asking for it to look like Trump National. However, it would be nice if there was at least a driving range? Maybe not so many gigantic holes on the cart path? A lawnmower once every two weeks or every month so the fairways doesn’t look so out of shape? A cart girl?Just the basics so it can make sense why you’re charging so much. If you’re going to golf here, use GolfNow or wait for twilight because this course has taken a BIG dive from a year back and not worth the amount asked. Taking advantage of the people coming down from NY and price gouging.
Fairway not Good
Many holes on the course both on the fairway and around the Green, a lot of sand and you hardly had a firm ground hit your shot.
Hole in 1!
I am a Tamarac resident - although there are plenty of good courses to play in the area, Colony West is a decent place for a decent price. The Champion course is a full course and conditions are manageable, glades course is extremely short but fun to play if you want to get 18 holes in around 2 hours. I may be biased about this court because I recently shot a hole in one on the 17th hole of the champion course - but the staff is extremely friendly, the pace of play is good if you get an early tee time, and overall I will be playing here again as it is close to my home and overall a good experience.
Colony West Champ
Course is not in good condition. Always looking for grass in the fairways. Greens were inconsistent and the “new” tee boxes were pretty well chewed up
Sand traps were in great condition
Good layout.
The staff was great.The greens were in great condition,the fairways were not good.Probably would not play again.
Colony West Championship Course - March 2023
I am a Tamarac resident and played this course on and off for many years. I found the course to be in terrible shape. The course was extremely dry. Lots of weeds and dirt on the fairways and literally no grass to hit off of. The greens were fair at best with many spots, weeds and not nearly worth the $70 per round to play there. There are much better places to play for the same or less money. I won't be going back anytime soon.
