Devlin and VonHagge designed this course, which challenges even experienced golfers. It has been rated by Golf Digest to be among the 50 top courses in the United States. The signature hole on the Championship Course is #12, a 452-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot through a cypress forest to an island green.
This 7,258 yards, par 71 course has narrow fairways, a deep rough as well as plenty of water and bunkers. Enjoy the fast greens and the excitement of knowing you're on one of the best.

Good course layout and pace.
Got grouped with a really nice couple.
The course layout was great.
Course condition was okay.
Pace was good.
Had a good time.
Nice Course
Colony West had a nice layout and the conditions were ok given that we are still in winter. Unfortunately, the play was slow.
Greens in good shape
Greens in good shape overall course needs work. dried out grass, missing grass in many areas.
Dry Course
We enjoyed our round of golf but found the course to be very dry. Fairways and rough areas had patches of no grass making it hard to decide the type of club mostly due to the turf. Course had some challenging holes with dog legs and strategically placed water. Parking is not great but that will be a future challenge when the hotel opens up.
Poor condition
No grass in many areas on the fairways and around the greens
Greens are in excellent shape
Fairways dry and ground hard at times due to a lack of watering. Everyone friendly and courteous.
Bigger Glades
They let this course go, it used to be a decent course, fairways with long grass, greens with a lot of flaws. For the price is not worth it
Course and staff need a makeover
This course is in lousy condition from tee to green and outside the lines as well, curbs, cart paths etc. The layout itself is nice. The outside staff not helpful at all. Here’s a key, cart 49, and I’m lugging the clubs to put them on the cart and unloaded after the round and carried them to the car, no club cleaning. That’s not such a bad thing but when you check in they have a big tip box right in front of you saying tips are appreciated. This was our third round for the week and we tipped the starter in both places and the bagroom guys for cleaning down and sending clubs to bag drop. Tips need to be earned not coerced. New clubhouse is nice.
Would recommend
I really like the layout and challenge of Colony West Champion Course. There are a number of dried out and burnt areas of the fairways but overall it’s in pretty good shape.
Nice layout
I think the weather being very hot and humid is not helping the course. Put an extra person behind the bar would help. The wait is long when you order something when you are in a hurry. She has to enter everything in the computer. That is taking lots of time. But food was good
Course condition
Tee box, fairways and greens in sub-par conditions.
Decent course for the money
Far better courses in the area, but at under $70 for 18, not too bad. I found the greens hard and super fast. Fairways can be sparse with grass.
