Championship at Colony West Country Club

All the greens had aeration holes and made putting very difficult. Most of the Tee boxes were all dug up and had temporary area with all: Blue, white, yellow and ted bunched together. The entire 12th hole was completely closed. The discount we received was a Golfnow discount and not due to the course condition. We were all very disappointed.

It’s a monster. Huge course 7300+ yards and it challenges any golfer.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Water source on course was not working but staff brought water to us for free. There is no beverage cart. Tee boxes were in terrible shape, uneven and mostly sand. Greens were poor condition. There are better courses in the area for equal or less money.

The course has a hole under construction. Golfers have a long detour around #12 creating a jam. The greens were recently aerated.

I liked the course layout, lots of doglegs, so you had to hit different shots or always be down the middle. But really the only redeeming qualities were the greens and the “deal” price I paid. Greens held nicely and putted well. But the rest of the course is in need of help - fairways were just OK, tee boxes were hard to get a tee in the ground, but worst of all were the bunkers - full of rocks and more dirt than trap sand. I clicked would recommend to a friend based only on the low price I paid.

Good and Challenging Golf Course highly recommended

Generally the course has potential. The layout was good and challenging. But in dire need of TLC. You know like water?

As I understand it, it’s traded hands a couple times and hopefully the new owners can afford to turn it around. If your looking for a change of place, probably worth a day if you approach with an open mind set!

Most greens you need to look hard for those little splotches of relentless weeds, fairways are coming back to where they were before all attention was going to the new clubhouse/hotel, we were amazed that a couple of tee boxes were literally sandboxes, not one bit of turf, not nice visually or to stand on,,,BUT,,, does not really matter when teeing up.

Cart lady is sweet as pie, servers in clubhouse were attentive and moved swiftly, proshop employee was friendly and attentive, the only slackers were the bagboys on the way out, coming in the one left was more attentive. Almost forgot,, food was tasty and abundant.

Not sure if Saturday at around noon is special but our foursome did not have anyone on the front or behind and we were able to finish in 3 and 1/2 hours. I paid $51 and would not play again for that price, but would play for $30. Greens are okay but slow, fairways are in poor condition same as space around the bunkers and teeboxes.
