Great course

Very good course when weather is good can get very sloppy with a little rain but when dried out it is more than worth the price.

Course is very open so not many balls lost

Really enjoyed the game

First time at this course. Really enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

Definitely a bit of a hidden gem as I had never heard anyone speaking about this course before (even with its old name Dublin Mountain).

Wide and forgiving, which is exactly what I need!

Well worth a visit

recently had the pleasure of playing this course for the first time, and it was an experience worth sharing. Set against a stunning mountain backdrop, the scenery alone makes for an enjoyable round. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making me feel right at home as a first-time visitor.

Given the time of year, I anticipated some waterlogging, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was minimal. The fairways remained playable, allowing the ball to roll well, which made for a more enjoyable game. The wide-open fairways also meant that even off-target shots were often recoverable.

The course design is both fun and challenging, with some particularly beautiful water-featured holes that add both aesthetic appeal and strategic play. The greens were in great condition for the season—smooth and well-maintained, offering a good mix of difficulty while generally playing on the faster side.

For the price, this course delivers excellent value. Between the breathtaking views, friendly atmosphere, and solid course conditions, it’s a place I’d happily return to. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s well worth a round!

Good parkland public course near Dublin

Good course and price with weekend times near Dublin.

Simple parkland course with good condition fairways and greens. On the side of a mointain so very open in parts especially at the high tees. It can be a bit muddy at different parts due to drainage but very playable in all conditions.

Would recommend and play again

Nice course especially for the cheap price. Good conditions considering we are in December. It is a very forgiving course with 4/5 challenging holes. I would play it again, not super difficult but very fun for any level.

Nice track

Nice track , really forgiving course wide open with a few tricky holes. Greens were in really good condition and for the time of year little to no leaves.

Course not great, facilities dreadful

Arrived @8.20 am for a tee time of 8.48 am. Gate closed and 5 cars were waiting on roadside by the time we got gate opened. Staff member arrived around 8.50 am. Toilets filthy. Greens in poor condition and only two of 18 fairways looked as if the grass had been tended. Views were nice. Cheap round of golf but not sure it was even worth that. Wouldn’t recommend Buttermountain.

Buttermountain Golf Course

First time playing Buttermountain Golf Course. Staff were very friendly. One man in particular, William I think his name was, an absolute gentleman. Made me feel welcome.

Golf course was overall fairly average, some tricky holes 8th and 11th. An amazing 132 yard tricky signature 14th hole par 3. Surrounded by water. Hit a 9 iron in to the back of the green. Long putt for birdie, missed got my par. Some very average holes (1st 2nd 3rd 5th 9th 10th 12th 16th 17th 18th). To be fair the course was in great condition. Fairways and greens. Rough was tough... put it that way. A round in Buttermountain should cost €20 at most. I paid €25.

Toilets are shocking, need major improvements. Overall 7/10. Coincidentally I shot my best ever score... an 87. Considering I've never played the course before today. Very forgiving open fairways. Wind was a major factor. I hit cracking tee shots with my driver. Aimed far out left for the ball to come back in to the fairways.

I won't rush back any time soon. But to be honest and fair ill definitely be back again if only to play that 14th hole

Course gets better on the back nine. Greens needed a fresh cut, toilets etc leave a lot to be desired. Not sure where the leisure club part comes from, possibly in the future? Overall, you don’t get anymore than you pay for.

Poor

It was like playing on custard and they layout was just chaos. No practice green either. Greens weren’t awful but that’s all that you could say about it

Work in progress !!!

Could be a good track . They are working on the course and doing a lot of work. But the holes are long and the fairways are so unfair. On some holes the fairway is only 10 yards wide and the rough is so deep you get punished even if you hit a good shot .

They need to cut the rough back a bit or even put some aprons along the fairways.

Nice open course with interesting layout and holes

Great looking course with high quality fairways and greens, some issues with drainage but due to the heavy rain that’s to be expected. Interesting layout for some holes, which I have never seen before and enjoyed, however it was slightly confusing as a first time player to figure out which tee boxes were which for some holes.
