Conestoga Golf Club

About
Located about an hour northeast of Las Vegas, Conestoga Golf Course tumbles across the desert canyons and arroyos of Mesquite. Gary Panks, the course's designer, wanted to create a course that looked as though it had been forged over time by nature. By utilizing the desert landscaping and natural washes, the result was a stunning layout that is as scenic as it is challenging. The rolling topography covers a range of elevation changes, providing not only tricky uneven lies but also views of the surrounding canyons. The course is enhanced even further with interesting rock outcroppings that are interspersed across the landscape and several different water features. In addition to the natural hazards, Panks incorporated over 50 strategically placed bunkers throughout Conestoga Golf Course. It is formidable, but the course has five sets of tees to accommodate a wide range of skill levels.

Great Course
Cart path only gave my wife and I a real workout. Staff was friendly with water and cold towels provided. Green rough I believe because of over seeding. Will play again.
Fun Course
First off, not sure why it was such a big deal, but called and asked if I could play around 4:00pm. They said I could and drove down from St. George. When I got there, at 3:45, the person behind the counter said their last group went out at 2:00pm and I couldn't go out. I told then that I had called and the person I spoke with said that I could go out around 4:00. Had to get the General Manager involved but they did let me go out. Then the starter said that they had groups out ahead of me and I might only get 9 in. Not sure why he said that as I got 18 in and did not run into another person the entire round. With that said, really like the course. It winds through the badlands around Mesquite, with many forced carries over desert. Water comes into play on a couple holes. The course was cart path only and was undergoing maintenance. So the greens and fairways were still a little long. But once they get everything cut, it should be in prime condition. All in all a fun play and worth the trip.
great lay out and fun course. several forced carries, water hazards, short par fours, long par fours and same with par threes and fives.
The play was a bit slow but I could play this course every day.
Warm round of Golf at Conestoga GC
Played golf at Conestoga GC on Sunday teeing off at 10am. Course was in overall great shape, but was showing some signs of a hot summer. Although temperature was in mid 90's to close to 100 by the end of the round, they give you plenty of water and cool towels that make it comfortable. The course is a combination of the desert and canyon golf, with lots of elevation on the front to make it fun and challenging. The greens were in good condition but played a little slow (Probably due to the heat) and the tees and fairways looked and played great. This is one of the best courses in Mesquite behind Wolf Creek. A country Club feel, and great practice area. I was pair with a father son, and had a great round. The great price I found on Golfnow made it a screaming deal,
great views
this is a fun layout with many forced carries and elevation changes. course is a little ragged, i was told they are getting ready to overseed. greens are bumpy and slow. check in was pleasant at the desk and with the starter. a GPS is a MUST for a first time visit. (not provided on carts , bring your own).
Helps to know the course!
This was my second time to play this course and I found it much more enjoyable now that I was more familiar with it. The yardages on this course are very important as is a map of the course. There are many canyons and land features that you need to know about. The course is in great shape other than that the greens are a little rough. Staff was great and it was another great golfing experience in Mesquite.
Challenging and fun track
Course is a great place to have an enjoyable round. Challenging holes and some easy holes.
Wenn
Course was a little dry. They recently punched the tee boxes so it looked like they hadn't watered in areas. With the course being a little dry the price was a little steep but they did include lunch for $2 more which made up for it a little. Still think it was a little steep but it is a great facility and has some great views. I enjoyed my trip to conestoga.
great desert course
Amazing course. It is exactly what a desert course should be. Lots of beautiful views and fun elevated shots. Wasn't an easy course but you didn't feel like it was overly difficult. The second time will be better because I can see course knowledge going a long way. Staff was great. They put 4 water bottles in the cooler and the range, chipping, and putting areas were great. Can't wait to go back!
Course in nice shape overall
Sanded greens was the only negative, rest of course in great shape.
conestoga
Always an interesting round, lots of good views, desert carries, and fine greens.
One of my favorite courses in the area.
Scenic Views
This is one of the most scenic courses I have ever played in a desert environment. Each hole would be a signature hole on most courses. The fairways and tee boxes were like hitting from plush carpet, but unfortunately the bunkers hadn't been raked in days and were as hard as concrete. The greens were a little disappointing as they were a little bumpy and much slower than other Troon managed courses I have played. The course layout has numerous blind shots which can be tough if this is you first round played here and you don't have a handheld GPS. Overall a fun round of golf, but if paying full price green fee I would have been a little disappointed.
Conestoga May 1,2014
Played on May 1 2014 (Beautiful day)
Course conditions from tee to green were excellent
Played with a member which is almost a must if you never played the course before
Pricey course but it's still a must play
The only negative is the no GPS system especially considering their rack rate)
Great Experience
First of all, this was my first time using golfnow.com, and I was quite impressed. We payed inline to golfnow before we arrived, and once we arrived, they were ready for us and sent us right out. I will be using golfnow.com more often for sure.
As far as the course goes, it was my first time playing Conestoga and it's now in my top 5 of all courses I've played across the western United States. It was in mint condition, friendly staff, great course layout, the wind made it quite a bit more challenging than it should have been. But overall it was a great experience, and I'm already planning a return trip within the next few weeks with more friends.
Extremely difficult course!!!
Great course, great conditions, great views but almost unplayable with winds at 25 miles per hour ....
Fun to play but frustrating greens, hard as rocks ,due to the dryness imposed by the extreme wind conditions.
Target golf, you will definitely need some accurate measuring device or play with other players that know the course well.
Very deep bunkers wich might be needed to keep the sand inside the traps.
I am sure my experience would have been much better on a normal day with 5 to 10 miles per hour wind.
Superb desert golf for better players
Course is very interesting and challenging. Conditioning is excellent. With 5 sets of tees, the challenge is less about distance off the tee and more about placement and accuracy of approach shots. Greens are hard and difficult to hold. I think the course is too difficult for the average player, which contributes to pace of play issues which I encounter every time I play here. Bring your A game.
Awesome
Great Course - would play again in a heart beat - staff is friendly - we ate in the club house and the food was good.
Freak storm cut our round short
Beautiful, scenic, target golf. Try to play with a local who can save you from making mistakes. We were paired up with a local twosome which helped immensely.
Weather was terrible. Winds gusting to 40mph, temps in the 50s. Not what we expected, but not the course's fault.
On the 9th fairway, the wind shifted, skies opened up, heavy rain and HAIL forced us to head for the clubhouse. Sadly, we couldn't finish our round. Looking forward to going back hopefully when the weather is better.
Beautiful
Dramatic course. Some shots appeared longer than they were. Greens were subtle, difficult to read. Needed to be smoother. Putting tough. But course spectacular in lay out. A must play. Traps fatal.
Scenic course
Great course that was in excellent shape. Pace of play was a little slow.
