Osprey/Heron at Okeeheelee Golf Course
About
With a name meaning 'quiet waters' in the Seminole language, Okeeheelee Golf Course is situated amidst lush, rolling hills that overlook the sparkling waters of Clear Lake. There are 27 championship holes that are divided into three nines and can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Osprey, Heron, and Eagle nines are named after the various wildlife that can be seen throughout. Each golf course offers a different set of challenges and scenery. Okeeheelee's Osprey/Heron Course features a variety of elevation changes. There are scenic views from the elevated greens but don't become too distracted since there are many elements to contend with including towering trees, strategically placed bunkers, and deep rough lining the fairways. There are also plenty of water hazards coming into play.

Fun course
Love playing this course. Would have preferred playing Osprey to Heron. Eagle is not my favorite. Heron has prettier holes. Greens were in not really good shape but still had a good time.
Good memories
Back in September of 2000 my father worked there. In fact he was working there when he got ill and passed away. At the funeral your staff was friendly and recommended the course. I finally had that chance today. The course was well maintained. Practice facilities were excellent. Water on every hole. Some of it blind.. traps were in great shape along with the greens. They had two large groups of golfers going out as I went out creating slow play. Great place to play if you want to play 9 holes. Overall I would recommend the course for play. Great views, great day, and great fun.
Thank you for sharing your story. We are so glad that you got the chance to come see where your dad worked. Our employees and volunteers are family -- and the family of their family are also family. ;) We hope you get the chance to return soon.
NICE ROUND
I have played there several times and have played all the courses. It is in good shape and fun to play. It is also quite beautiful on the course. No houses, roads or distractions when your on the course. First 9 was a little slow but it picked up on the second. I shall return!
Thank you so much for the continued support of Okeeheelee Golf Course and we can't wait to see you again! It really is a special piece of property that should be experienced by all golfers. Keep 'em in the short stuff!
Mixed
mixed feelings.... the course is in a beautiful setting, fairways are really nice, greens are disappointing. i would definitely play there again, even worth the drive from fort lauderdale. my biggest complaint, and unfortunately this is just typical of many south florida courses, the cart guys are unwelcoming and grouchy, just feel like i'm bothering them by showing up. one of them even gave me some kind of sarcastic response to a question, and i assure you i am a polite and even cheerful person (happy to be playing golf!). sad. it just means i'm going to keep the tip in my pocket..... if i worked a customer service job that depended largely on tips, i would go out of the way to put on at lease a fake smile.
We can't tell you how much we appreciate you making the trip up from Fort Lauderdale and we're saddened to hear that you didn't fully enjoy your experience with us. In fact, we'd like to learn a bit more about your experience so that we can work with our volunteers to make sure something like this never happens again. Please shoot us an email at pbcgolf@pbcgov.org. We look forward to speaking with you.
Good value
It’s a lite busy but good value after 3:00 got 14 holes in
Thank you for taking advantage of our twilight special. The time change is right around the corner which means those late night 18-hole rounds are close! We'll see you soon.
Good Course for the price
The course was quite busy the day we played because of an outing. We played the front nine (Osprey) in just about 2 hours. They put us on the Eagle for the back nine because of an outing and the pace of play was much slower. It took almost 2.5 hours on the back. Water comes into play on almost every hole, so if you haven't played here before it would be helpful to play with someone who has for pointers. The greens were in good shape and very fast.
First and foremost, thanks for checking out Okeeheelee as we see you are from Pennsylvania. We apologize if the pace of play was a bit slower than you had hoped but are glad to hear that you found the course to be in great shape. Hopefully you didn't find too much of the water that you mentioned in your review and you will be back for another round in the near future.
Course
We played the Osprey and Heron . The two courses are in great shape enjoy my day with the people i played. Will for sure play again
Great course,fun to play
We have played Okeeheelee several times, last year and this year. Course is is great shape and interesting to play. Usually a great place to see wild life as well; not during the current cold snap though.
slow pace
When we played they only had two nines and they tried putting over 200 golfers on 9 holes. The round took 5 1/2 hours to complete, way to long. Used to playing 4 hr rounds! We had to wait at least 10 minutes each tee box!
Short course w gimmick
Don’t like layout at all. To many short holes and gimmicks and dumb pin placements
Poor pace of play
Pace of play was horrible. Probably it is that time of the year peak of holidays - everyone and their sister and nephew is on the course. But marshals should be there to speed things up - but none. People cant five 5-putting and just hacking. I skipped 2-3 holes but it was another slow(er) group in front.
We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback about your experience with us. It is highly valuable to us as we work to provide each and every golfer with the best playing experience possible. We apologize that you were not 100% thrilled with your round and we have addressed your concerns with the staff working on the day of your round. We look forward to impressing you in the future.
We love that you love playing Okeeheelee! Heron Nos. 7 & 8 are by far two of the prettiest holes on the property, although we don't think there's a bad one in the bunch. Thanks for your continued support.
