Osprey/Heron at Okeeheelee Golf Course
About
With a name meaning 'quiet waters' in the Seminole language, Okeeheelee Golf Course is situated amidst lush, rolling hills that overlook the sparkling waters of Clear Lake. There are 27 championship holes that are divided into three nines and can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Osprey, Heron, and Eagle nines are named after the various wildlife that can be seen throughout. Each golf course offers a different set of challenges and scenery. Okeeheelee's Osprey/Heron Course features a variety of elevation changes. There are scenic views from the elevated greens but don't become too distracted since there are many elements to contend with including towering trees, strategically placed bunkers, and deep rough lining the fairways. There are also plenty of water hazards coming into play.

Okeeheelee has three nine hole courses. All are beautiful and well kept. They also are challenging for players of all handicaps. The staff inside and out,are helpful and polite. I highly recommend this course for players of all abilities, you will enjoy the day.
We appreciate you coming out to play and for taking the time to review our course!
Not Okee Dokeee
Not sure what happened here, but I've played here several times & for some unknown reason the greens were in terrible shape
If you're gonna punch the greens you should at least let people know.
Horrible greens guess that's why it was only $12, still wouldn't have paid that if I had known
We're sorry to hear that the greens weren't what you were expecting. We try our very best to alert every golfer of the conditions during times of maintenance and we apologize if that was not communicated to you. Give us another chance in a week or two and you will be blown away by the conditions. Thanks for the review.
Good course, average staff/service
Weather was great and course conditions good. Staff was not friendly. Checking in, behind the counter, 2 gentlemen seemed annoyed they had to get up and take our $. The "Starter" was the same, 3 gentlemen in booth/tent acted like doing us a favor. NO OTHER carts around, but insisted our 2 carts had to be moved 4 feet to other side of sidewalk in a single file. We moved them and were immediately told we could go to tee. What was point making us move with no one else around and us going directly to tee? Same when finished round. Tipped gentleman $8.00 to wipe clubs. He took the $, then immediately moved the clubs from cart to rack without wiping them or even putting head covers on and he was not busy. Good course but the people were not pleasant except lady at snack bar.
Thank you for the five-star review!
A great day
Okeeheelee is a fantastic course. The conditions were superb and the staff friendly and most helpful, making for a great day of golf.
And this is a fantastic review. We appreciate you coming out to play and are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed yourself. See you again soon.
Rude & Unaccommodating
I specifically booked a single-golfer tee time. I was five mins late to the course, and discovered the starter was trying to send me to the 2nd or 3rd hole to meet "my" foursome. When I explained I booked a single, he rudely rebutted that I could go out in a few mins with some other guy he was chit chatting with, or go play with my strangers. I know a lot of people in the industry, and they all would've bent over backwards to make sure the customer got what they paid for. I didn't make it to the first tee, as the rudeness of the starter overruled my longing to play. I will never go back to this course, which is a shame because it's a Palm Beach County Parks & Rec facility, kept in nice condition. The staff, and their obsurd policies however, completely negate that.
We are sorry to hear you had such a poor experience with us. Having said that, we welcome singles and twosomes, but we do pair them in an effort to keep the course flowing for other groups and to keep singles from having to wait. We would love for you to come back and play the course, because as you said, it is in fantastic shape. Thank you for the review.
Awesome value
Playing after 3:00 during the week was $19 including cart for as many holes as you wanted. Course was in great shape for being a muni. The city definitely puts money into it. The cart staff was the only drawback. Not very friendly at all. We were paired with a local and two snow birds from Canada. We had a great time.
We are indeed owned by Palm Beach County and are thrilled to hear that you had such a good experience with us. We do our very best to have the course in the best shape possible and we always have great specials for golfers to take advantage of all year round.
Another good PBC public course
One of a group of courses managed by Palm Beach County Parks. Good variety of holes, distances layouts. Course is in good condition with fairways and greens nicely maintained. Nice practice facility. ONLY DRAWBACK WAS THAT whoever was placing the pins must have been angry because quite a few were on or just below decent downhill slopes, if you were above the hole, there was no way of keeping the put from running out 4-5 feet past unless you hit the hole. Since it was my first time here, I was not aware that this was the case. The facility has 3 9's and we played Heron-Eagle.
It sounds like you'll have to come back to check out Osprey, our third nine-hole course! Thanks for playing and for leaving a review. See you soon.
Lefty friendly layout
The layout is very left hand friendly greens nice and smooth few weeds
Nice place to play
Calling all Southpaws! Our course is enjoyable from both sides of the ball.
Great course
Challenging course but has ample fairways for that occasional miscue. The greens were in great shape and rolled true. One of the best municipal courses I have ever played. I will definitely be back !!!
So good to hear that you plan to return for another round! We'd also suggest checking out the other courses owned and operated by Palm Beach County: Osprey Point, Park Ridge and Southwinds. Keep 'em in the short stuff!
Need to upgrade staff a bit
Inside the pro shop the cashier was friendly. I used GolfNow for three players. The cashier gave me two slips instead of three. I walked down to the cart staff and handed him the slips which I thought were for two carts. He stated that the slips were per person. He was a gentleman of extended years, over 65 years old. Instead of calling the office, using the Wallis talkie, or using the computer next to him, he made me walk all the way back to the pro shop up to the second floor for a piece of paper. That fiasco caused us to start 20 minutes late. An inconvenient annoyance. Perhaps a younger staff member would've been more efficient.
Early Monday Round
This municipal course is in great condition for the amount of play it sees and the public status. The greens run at about a 9 on the stimpmeter, and run fairly true. The fairway wound throughout this nature preserve park and present a tough challenge as your score is made up in how intelligently you place your tee shot. For advanced players this course isn't about playing driver on each hole, but rather distance control and shot shaping. The only complaint is the pace of play during high season, as some players walk and others ride holding up the pace of play. I've played plenty other public courses in the area, and this one might not have a championship layout but is great to expose weakness in your course management.
Nice
For the money you can not get better in the area. Good conditions all around, the setting is gorgeous. You may loose a few balls in hidden ponds but, will remember second time around. Fun to play!
Slow play
Group in front of us clueless to golf etiquette. No Ranger till 15 hole. Ranger more clueless than slow players.
Good value, well run but crowded
Monday midday round (apparently one of most crowded days on the course). Enjoyed the round but close to five hours. Had to expect this given good quality public course with decent weather and good value. Course is in decent shape and decently scenic.
Driving range, snack bar/restaurant/pro shop all fine.
windy day at the course
only issue was the golf site double booked my time. The course took care of it quite nicely.
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words, Christopher.
