Osprey/Heron at Okeeheelee Golf Course
About
With a name meaning 'quiet waters' in the Seminole language, Okeeheelee Golf Course is situated amidst lush, rolling hills that overlook the sparkling waters of Clear Lake. There are 27 championship holes that are divided into three nines and can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Osprey, Heron, and Eagle nines are named after the various wildlife that can be seen throughout. Each golf course offers a different set of challenges and scenery. Okeeheelee's Osprey/Heron Course features a variety of elevation changes. There are scenic views from the elevated greens but don't become too distracted since there are many elements to contend with including towering trees, strategically placed bunkers, and deep rough lining the fairways. There are also plenty of water hazards coming into play.

Agony on the course
Course was nice, people were nice, cheeseburger was good, weather was excellent. But: my brother and I were with a twosome, seemed to be man and wife, and I'm pretty sure she had never played golf before in her life. This at 9am on a Sunday. Swing and a miss x 3 or 4 every shot, before the ball went 10 yards; then fixed her hair and laughed. Insisted on putting with an iron. Ranger said something to us once, but I'm sure if it had been 4 men he would have ridden our butts about playing so slowly. Rangers should not be afraid to speak up, even if it is a woman. Made the round very difficult and the day quite miserable. We tried to lose them at the turn, but to our dismay, they waited for us.
Beautiful course
Course was in great condition...beautiful views...fast play...loved it!
We very much appreciate the five-star review. Hard to beat a South Florida day in December when you're from Connecticut.
Relaxing
If u know the right time to go here it's the best.
And the right time is... ANYTIME!
See you again soon.
Played Heron/Eagle.
Heron is very nice for a public course. Fairways and tees in very good shape, greens are closely cut and run true and quick. Eagle is much more of a challenge in that there are water hazards that cannot be seen from the tees, so if you don't know the course, leave the driver in the bag for any of the shorter par fours and don't hit more than a 200 yd tee shot to the middle of the fairway. The greens are really tricky on this 9. Lots of slope, and some nasty pin placements on the down slope . the greens on this 9 also slope away from the hole at the back of the green and to the sides. Play approach shots and chips short of the pin, and you must be spot on with long putts and don't run them past the pin unless you want a long second putt. The online price was higher than it should have been. They usually come up as 19.63 on Golf Now, but mine was twice that.
This is a very detailed review that is full of tips that will save you a shot or two during your round with us. Thanks for the four-star review, James.
Always a great day on the. course
Great day .... we were paired up with a couple from Chicago. Pace of play was very good and course conditions were great. Looking forward to playing again.
We're thrilled we could help contribute to your great day and we look forward to seeing you again.
Okee Dokee
Awesome course! nothing but great stuff about this place
"Okee Dokee" ... we see what you did there. Thank you for making the trip up from Miami Gardens!
Will Investigate Again and......
Loved the layout, the scenery. Greens were excellent. Course had some standing water due to some rain.
My only complaint was that the golf shop asked if I had a rewards card, which this being my first time I did not. They didn't explain it or ask if I wanted more information. After playing the course - really excellent facilities too - I want to learn more.
First and foremost, thanks for checking us out for the first time. Okeeheelee is one of five golf facilities owned and operated by Palm Beach County and our Frequent Player Card provides a savings at all five. You can learn more about the card here: http://discover.pbcgov.org/parks/golf/Pages/Frequent-Player-Card.aspx. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Cart path Only!
Course does not drain well; overnight rain and it was cart path only for entire 18 holes. Several of the holes had small ponds in the middle of the fairways due to poor drainage! I would not recommend playing after a good rain only when you are certain course is dry!
We apologize that Mother Nature impacted your round with us. Believe it or not, we usually do drain very well ... we have just received a TON of rain over the past two months. Come back during the winter months and you will be blown away by the course conditions. Thanks for coming out to play!
Thank you for coming out and for taking the time to fill out a review.
The course is beautiful and in great condition. Its a Great course to play and has a great staff.
We work very hard to keep the course in the very best shape possible and we are thrilled to hear that is how you found it. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
I have seen the course in better shape
I have played here on many occasions. I have not seen the course in this condition in the past. The greens were extremely slow and bumpy and the fairways had some bare spots.
First and foremost, thank you for coming out and for filling out a review. We apologize if the course conditions were less than stellar during your round, but we assure you that we've been working hard and the course is back in its normal - great - shape. We hope to see you again.
Great County Course
Was paired up with nice couple.....enjoyed the round. Play here frequently.
Isn't it great when you meet new people on the golf course? We're glad you enjoyed yourself!
Great Course even in summer
Okeeheelee is always in great shape and always challenging.
Our group will play it again and again.
