Osprey/Heron at Okeeheelee Golf Course
About
With a name meaning 'quiet waters' in the Seminole language, Okeeheelee Golf Course is situated amidst lush, rolling hills that overlook the sparkling waters of Clear Lake. There are 27 championship holes that are divided into three nines and can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Osprey, Heron, and Eagle nines are named after the various wildlife that can be seen throughout. Each golf course offers a different set of challenges and scenery. Okeeheelee's Osprey/Heron Course features a variety of elevation changes. There are scenic views from the elevated greens but don't become too distracted since there are many elements to contend with including towering trees, strategically placed bunkers, and deep rough lining the fairways. There are also plenty of water hazards coming into play.

Excellent !
Wath a terrific golf course ! Will play again soon, great scenic views.
Okeeheelee Golf
I've played here a few times. Always enjoy the challenge. Greens and fairways were in great shape. There were a few of the Tee's (especially par 3) that had no grass on them. Other than this I thought the course was awesome. Will play again and would recommend this course to all.
Lots of wild life
The ladies tee off were rough and depleted of grass
Lots of water lots of fun
The course has everything any golfer could for. With the exception of some fairly course sand in the bunkers the layout was a pleasure to play.
Will not be going back soon!
We have played this course a couple of times over the past few weeks. The courses themselves are quite nice and fairly challenging. It is unfortunate that the equipment is in such poor shape. The carts are a joke. The first cart we got the other day did not have a parking brake and barely had any brakes at all. We took it back and traded for another cart. This cart had bad brakes but at least the parking brake worked. The cart we had on Friday had a very loose steering wheel.
It took forever to play the front nine, as the foursome in front of us was extremely slow. The marshall was going around checking on everyone but said nothing to this foursome. It wasn't until we got back to the starter to begin the second nine that we learned that they should have been told to hurry up. We started the back nine and were almost done the 10th hole when our cart quit all together. We were golfing with another gentleman and his cart quit on the same hole. (what are the odds....?) He tried to get back to the starter, but had to leave his cart on the course and walked back. They gave him a different cart. He told them we also needed a cart but they didn't bring one out. The people who were behind us came up and one of the guys from this foursome called the pro shop for us and finally the marshall came out and gave us his cart. It was a very frustrating day and we did not enjoy it at all.
staple
Play okee quite a lot. Great value and usually in very good shape.lots of challenging doglegs and some elevated greens. Great yera round course
Nice course
Very attractive holes with a lot of surprises. However watch for birds and racoons.
It's OK
Not a bad course for the rate. Plenty of water hazards to get you in trouble. Course was in fair condition.
West Palm Golf Trip
We came down to West Palm Beach to play a little golf and get away from the cold. We played 5 different courses and here is how I would rank those courses.
#1 - Presidential Golf Club ($75) - Very nice, playable, great condition.
#2 - Atlantic National ($30) - Played in the afternoon twice for $30. Good course layout, playable, starting to show some wear but definitely worth the afternoon rate.
#3 - Madison Green Golf Club ($65) - You could move this ranking up or down. The course was in good condition but it is a very difficult course, especially in the wind. Even the best golfers are going to loose balls the first time they play this course.
#4 - Okeeheelee ($50) - I would play this course again but it would not be my first choice. We played Eagle to Osprey but we noticed that all the regulars wanted to play the Heron course.
#5 - The Village Golf Club ($25) - This course is about a mile from Madison Green. We played it in the afternoon. I was worth the $25 but not much more but after having you butt kicked it was a nice way to end the day.
Please let me know if you have any courses in the area that you really like.
Sate course that could use a manicure.
Nice state owned course. Very busy so impossible to play in 4:15. Small greens and hidden problems with some holes unfair. Not the kind of course I would play often. Fairways are OK, greens are slow and bunkers are awful.
This course was challenging but enjoyable.
Pace of play was 4 hrs 10 min on a busy day. Condition of the course was very good and the greens were excellent. Staff was friendly as well. We did not eat there but they do have a water and ice machine which is a nice touch. A caution- there is a lot of water on the course so bring extra balls.
Okeeheelee Stands Up!
This course (or courses) has been a favorite for years. Decent pace, clean facility, challenging course with water and sand. What else could you ask for? Wildlife and park life combine for a great spectacle between shots!
Strong test of Florida golf
For a municipal -- or any public course for that matter, Okeeheelee is certainly a solid choice. The Parks and Rec course offers 27 holes of championship golf laid out along Florida wetlands. This Audubon certified course has all the elements -- plenty of bunkers, rolling greens and several water hazards. Tree-lined fairways mean you have to be precise off the tee, but it's certainly not overbearing.
bien entretenu
Les verts et les allées étaient en parfaites conditions.
Fun-Fun-Fun!!!
Fun Course with lots of variables. Great price point and friendly staff. Beware of the raccoons, they have a way of entering your cart and leaving with food, wallet, purse, etc... I Would recommend this course to anyone.
Nice design, poor conditions
The main defense to this course are the greens. Under normal conditions the greens would be a far test. They are however, very slow and in poor condition. Ball makes abound on the par three's and the par four and fives are lumpy and humpy. The fairways aren't much better, they need cutting as do the teeing areas.
Great accessible course with its own challenges
Played with a friend and first time at this course for both of us. Quite happy with the course and enjoyed the mix of 3 nine hole courses. Staff very good and starters usually on the ball. Carts are "tired" and seem to break down easily. Rangers do their best to keep the pace going but there are always a few that slow the game down.
Fairways quite dry and greens pretty fast but one may expect that in Florida' public courses. Would return.
Starter is a joke.
Prepaid a GolfNow time slot. Checked in early. 3 others no show yet. Went to clubhouse to sign in and was met by an extremely friendly pro shop staff member. After going back to the starter I was told I was being bumped due to the fact that the threesome brought a unpaid/no tee time forth. The starter then told me he would try to fit me in and I would have to wait?!!!!!!! Totally unprofessional first time play. I prepaid and was bumped by a golfer that was a walk on. The pro shop staff handled this but my taxes pay for this starter- a PBC employee and this is acceptable? I had prior appointments that couldn't be changed. This brings a bad light to a public county facility that has had prior comments concerning bad employees and favoritism. The course was in good shape and played nicely. Hats off to the pro shop- THUMBS DOWNTO THE STARTER.
"Always a Guaranteed Great day"
This course is always a great time from the challenging golf, to the great vistas,Foliage, and wildlife!
You should play Osprey Point in Boca Raton for both the course conditions and challenges the next time you're in the areas.
