Osprey/Heron at Okeeheelee Golf Course
About
With a name meaning 'quiet waters' in the Seminole language, Okeeheelee Golf Course is situated amidst lush, rolling hills that overlook the sparkling waters of Clear Lake. There are 27 championship holes that are divided into three nines and can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Osprey, Heron, and Eagle nines are named after the various wildlife that can be seen throughout. Each golf course offers a different set of challenges and scenery. Okeeheelee's Osprey/Heron Course features a variety of elevation changes. There are scenic views from the elevated greens but don't become too distracted since there are many elements to contend with including towering trees, strategically placed bunkers, and deep rough lining the fairways. There are also plenty of water hazards coming into play.

Great Value & Some Beautiful Views
Picked the coldest day of the year to try this course for the first time. Wind chill in the low 40's...I was wearing four layers of clothing and it was still very chilly out there. That said, it was an enjoyable round. Lots of water, some hills which are rare in South Florida, and greens which were in very good condition although rock hard due to the cold weather (balls rolled and rolled if you hit them on the fly). Looking forward to coming back in warmer conditions and having some familiarity with the course...hitting what I thought was a great shot over a hill, to later find out there was water, will hopefully be avoided next time.
challenging layout
Courses we played were in reasonably good shape, except for several tee boxes. Layout is challenging, however, there are a significant number of water hazards that are not visible from the tee box. Hazard stakes would help, but there are none. Drawings of the holes on the tee box or scorecard would help, but there were none. We hit a number of good drives that ended up in unseen water hazards. When I mentioned this to the gentlemen in the proshop, his answer was if you can't see the landing area, assume it's water. So, local knowledge is a must for these courses. Despite my obvious frustration, I still plan to go back.
A must play
Once our rain delay (about 45 minutes) at the start was over, we thoroughly enjoyed (with golfers pain) the challenge of the 2 nines that we played.... will definitely be back to try to improve our play now that we know the course a little.....
Great Day of Golf
The staff was exelent, we was delay at our meeting before our tee time and they went the extra mile to get my group on the course that day.
Eagle-Osprey
Well this is not what we expected....
The have 3 courses at this public complex, eagle being the most challenging. If you have never played here before like us do not play this course unless you have a more than 12 balls on your bag.
Extremely narrow course with more doglegs than holes and of course water all around and greens son small that is ridiculously.
Greens were firm and full of divots marks.
Osprey was a different deal after the first 3 holes that were in really bad shape you move to the holes on the front of the complex which are very generous with the greens size and the open fairways and some doglegs, the conditions of the course improved on the last 6 holes.
I would suggest you go to OSPREY POINT instead.
Corse condition
It is a very nice Course i will play again And i hood The maintwnance will be alito le better
Great Day of Golf
Great course condition, but they have the best staff you could ever ask!!!!! When you are out there with friend enjoying the Florida whether
Consistently maintained
We play this course several times a month and always enjoy the challenge. No matter how busy the course is, the pace of play moves well.
Great Day
Challenging scenic course. It will definitely hone your game! I am playing again this week.
Great Course
This course is challenging. It is not very long even from the golds, but there are plenty of dog legs that make you think about every tee shot. The course is always busy and the completion time really depends on whom is in front of you. Well this time I was stuck behind some hackers that played like they were in no hurry. Other then that I was paired up with three other guys two of which were not very good, but they held their own keeping up. They were great guys! This course is great during off season when the snow birds leave and speed of play is good! Cheers!
the course is friendly
this course is *Mickey Mouse* to many doug legs and hard to read. This is not a course that very experienced golfers will appreciate.
Challenging course with nice surrounding.Fine experience
The course has nice and challenging layout. surrounding is nice and natural. The course is little bit too full, our two last rounds have taken about five hours, too much!
Nice course
This is a very nice county owned park course. The greens and fairways were in good shape. I'd play here again.
best place but a little bit expensive
It a bautiful place relay good chalange for anay golfer ,gold lay bout a little bit expensive
en tres bonne condition
Seul commentaire à faire,
Améliorer les indications pour passer d'un parcours à un autre.
Challenging
Great condition with nice greens and a lot of dog legs. You should not be using the big dog off too many tees! You'll see...
Nice course but some changes needed
We were a foursome and played on a busy Sunday morning and for some reason, the starter sent out twosomes in front of us and behind us. We kept up with the group in front of us, but there was always 1 or 2 groups of twosomes waiting on the tee behind us, and they never joined up. LOTS of water, much of it hidden from view. Also, no hazard stakes to help identify water hazards. There were several occasions where we hit what we thought were good shots but ended up in the water. Despite this, would still go back.
Good challenge fromage the gold or black
not enough water on the course. Can't wash tour ball on every holes
Great 27 holes golf course !!!
Played twice in one week. Challenging, great condition, great staff, played from the white 1st time and the blue the 2nd time. Blue is definetly best for those who have long drive. Because of the location, wild life and scenery are beautiful
