About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.
West Palm Beach Golf Course has hosted a variety of tournaments since opening in 1947, some that have included famous players such as Arnold Palmer. This historic course stands out from all of the area's public courses. Unlike Florida's many flat courses, West Palm Beach has an undulating terrain that provides interesting elevation changes. The course features elevated tees and greens and rarely is there a flat lie. The rolling hills are covered with native vegetation, palm trees, and mature pines and oaks. There is also no water to be found on the golf course, another rare occurrence in this area. In 2009, the course underwent a major renovation that made it environmentally friendly. There is also a full grass driving range and large practice area that overlook West Palm Beach Golf Course.

great design
classic design with lots of elevation changes for a florida course. fairways are a little rough
Greens punched
Forget a boud it for another week or so. The greens were punched so your putter should stay in your bag. Unless you hit within 3 feet, there's not a chance of making a putt. The ball bounced more than a jack rabbit. It has been over a year since they tore down the clubhouse, so there is no 19th hole. It is a shame for a municipal course in WEST PALM BEACH not to have a clubhouse, or even signs of building one. It could easily turn into a trailer park .
This is where old golf courses go to die.
Bottom of the barrel facility, but very nice people and it is cheap. No amenities, carts are from the 1970's, course is as beat up as the carts. Hint: The pro shop is in a trailer.
Okay Muni Course
The course has no water, having been drained and filled with sand some years ago. So there is little penal result of a so-so shot. The fairways are burnt in some areas and the sand is very soft, but the greens roll true and quick. An okay muni at a fair price.
Poor course conditions tarnish this former gem!
This once was an amazing course, but now is run down. The pros: easy to get a tee time, friendly staff, inexpensive green fees. The cons: absolutely terrible course conditions, more sand than grass, awful food and warm beer. I honestly felt like I was playing he Sahara desert. I won't be returning and would never recommend this course to anyone unless it's under new management. I should have turned away when I drove up and the pro shop was a trailer!
Sandy Greens
Every green had been airated and covered in sand with no indication when booking a tee time.
Nice course for price
Nice course for price. Fairways could use a touch up but still played ok. No water at all but plenty of sand greens were in fair condition altough even with rain in the prior days greens were super fast. Great layout can easily score low if you pick your spots with course management. Would recommend to any beginner wide fairways can make a little mistake and be in good condition.
AKSheep
Great municipal course. Friendly staff, greens were terrific, overall course conditions were good. Had a lot of rain in the area for the week and amazingly good drainage. Tight fairways, no water hazards, lots of waste bunker. Enjoyed our round and would play there again. If you have expectations of a resort style facility you will want to look someplace else. On the other hand, if you understand the dynamics of municipally run courses you'll be very impressed, as we were.
This course has too much sand.
This cource has too much of sand. Some caddiemasters are too "intrusive" in their job.
No water, but watch out for soft sand in waste areas
No forced carries and no water hazards reduce anxiety at this well-maintained muni course. Sand is abundant and soft sand can provide some excitement if your cart gets trapped in it.
beau terrain typiquement sud
West Palm Beach GC
I hadn't played here in a number of years and decided to play while on vacation in the area. With the exception of the greens which weren't bad, the condition of the course was not very good. The fairways were somewhat thin and if you are off the fairway, you find yourself in sandy waste areas that are overgrown with weeds and some wildflowers. These areas are very soft sand based and not easy to get out of. It is clear that not much money is being invested into the golf course. The layout is good but overall conditions would keep me from going back. I'm happy we only paid $35 to play and I wouldn't recommend this course given other options in the area.
Not too challenging,a tad slow pace
No water hazards on this course, but lots of waste bunkers. The fairways are more like hard pan. Traps and Greens were very good.
Good track.
Good set up of holes. Pace of play is good. Greens are in great shape. They will test you. Stay in the fariway.
This course has the potential of being a good one.
Come prepared to be challenged by this course. The greens are proctected by multiple bunkers. The fairways are quite good but many of them are bordered by sandy waste areas. The pace of play could be quite slow.
West Palm
Extremely horrendous. Staff in this golf course are the worst. They are rude and grouse.
Good game
Good game, good temperature, time of play good, ready foe an other game.
Great layout and greens.
Course has a very nice layout dispite there be no water. Greens were in great shape. Only negative would be the tee blocks weren't in great shape. But for a municipal course that's somewhat expected.
Windy Course
Strong winds were annoying and affected our game. Greens are in good shape. Fairways are in average to below average condition for South Florida, but if your ball is not in the fairway, lies are very tight. There are no water hazards, but there are many sandy waste areas. Round was 4 1/2 hours on a weekday. Staff is very friendly. A raccoon ate my water cup in the cart while we were on the 12th green!
The course is built on the dune line, which runs the entire east coast of florida, the old shoreline from when the ocean was deeper after the last ice age, it wasnt drained and filled with sand.
