About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.
West Palm Beach Golf Course has hosted a variety of tournaments since opening in 1947, some that have included famous players such as Arnold Palmer. This historic course stands out from all of the area's public courses. Unlike Florida's many flat courses, West Palm Beach has an undulating terrain that provides interesting elevation changes. The course features elevated tees and greens and rarely is there a flat lie. The rolling hills are covered with native vegetation, palm trees, and mature pines and oaks. There is also no water to be found on the golf course, another rare occurrence in this area. In 2009, the course underwent a major renovation that made it environmentally friendly. There is also a full grass driving range and large practice area that overlook West Palm Beach Golf Course.

Green great, fairway need to improve
This is great course, no waters, but lot of bunker and waste bunker. The green are great but fairway are not very nice . Seem they start to take care because they are putting a lot of week killers aroind the fairway . My feeling is the hignh season. Is coming and start to put money on the course. Staff is good .
Pappalm
Good course to play at intereresting to play
chalenging if you dont like sand dont go
Good course
Fun course to play and surprisingly with no water obstacles so you might go home with just using one ball which otherwise is rare for me.
Challenging Greens, don't get above the hole!
Not the most scenic of courses but a good value municipal course. Fairways not in great condition but greens very good if quick and difficult. The greens are this course's main defence, I three putted lots of greens (as did my partners). Try hatrd to avoid being above the hole, it's possible to miss from two feet downhill! Unusually for Florida there isn't too much water but bunkering is severe with most greens well protected. Good wedge and short iron play is essential if you are to score well. Off course facilities very limited with small pro shop and rudimentary catering facilities. However, everybody friendly and I was teamed up with a great bunch of guys who made me very welcome. I'll definitely play it again if I'm back in the Palm Beach area.
Overbooked tee times
Had a tee time for around 1:40, didn't get to start until 2. Waited for 10 minutes at each hole. By 4:30 we finally finished 9 holes and quit, since we were spending more time waiting than playing. People were playing from the black tees who had no right to be playing from there (several of their tee shots didnt make it to the white tees, and when hit solid travelled 240 at most). They really need to push for tee it up as well as space the tee times out. The course was not in very good condition. Very little difference between fairway and rough.
Good value
Good for average player staff friendly no water lots of sand
Not bad at all!
No water, but lots a sand traps. Full round took almost 5 hours - no ranger around to speed up. Worth to play - at least once...
Nice Golf Course
I could recommend this to any golfer. The course is rather challenging. However there were was no water. The golf course was good.
Stay Away
What a shame, such a great layout and such terrible condition. The tee boxes were like standing in a vacant lot with long patchy grass and dirt. At least the greens were consistent but very slow. The pace of play was pathetic, it took us 2 hours just to finish 6 holes; the pace did pick up a little but it took 4.5 hours to finish.
Nothing Spectacular
You get what you pay for. Price is reasonable. Greens in good shape.
Don't rent clubs here - I had no less than five different makes in my rentals.
Nice Muni!
One of the best munis I have played. Loved the layout as it was really different. No water but lots of waste areas. Pace of play could be better but that is my only complaint. Great staff. Decent food at the turn.
First Time Player
I have been wanting to go and play this course so I found a very good tee time and went over. I found the course to have a very nice layout but the Tee boxes were not up to any standard. They were all torn up and had very little grass to tee up. Overall, I liked the layout but this course was nothing special to me.
Disappointed
I must say that the greens are in great shape, but that's about it, the fairways were very barren of good grass and the tee boxes were in disarray, we had to play winter rules and roll the ball over to find some good grass to hit from, and with the clubhouse gone there was nowhere to get a beer or a sandwich after our round. THe staff was quite friendly though.
Wonderful Experience
Friendly staff, excellent weather and exceptional fairways and greens. This is one of my favorite South Florida courses.
Lots of bunkers
No water but lots of bunkers . Unless your aim is good you will gets lots of practice hitting out of the sand.
Fun course, great value
I love it when I come across municipals that are both affordable and fun to play, and West Palm Beach Municipal certainly fits the bill on both accounts. In fact, if you play it all the way back at 7,000 yards, it's quite a test, but totally not necessary to find challenge. After a renovation a few years ago, the course has a new look than it had in the last couple of decades. More wide open and unlike many courses in Florida, very little water.
Great day at west palm golf
Greens were great!!! Fairways, not so much!!!!! Had a fantastic time... I suggest that the members and guests fix their ball marks on the greens and rake the the traps after their bunker play!!!!!!!!! Paul and Debbie were perfect playing partners! Thanks for asking me to play!!!
course condition
the greens were good but the fairways were a mess. They had aereated the fairways to try to get some growth. The fairways were thin with a lot of bare spots. I would wait a for at least 4 weeks before I would play there again.
Guarded by Sand
This course was renovated several years ago creating waste areas on both sides of the fairways, narrowing the fairways and, to me, taking a lot of the fun out of the game. Those areas have now grown in somewhat. There's no water hazards or forced carries. The major hurdle are the sand traps, which seriously guard every green and fairway. They are hard to avoid. The fairways are a bit ragged, the greens are okay. Our foursome completed the round in just under 4 hours.
Great old country club gone public
Easy access from I-95.no water, but plenty of sand, both bunkered and waste areas.Course is well maintained for public course, with excellent greens and good Dick Wilson layout.Good group of par 3's.Course was being aerated on tees and fairways when we played ,but we just played preferred lies.Original grand Florida clubhouse has been demolished now and club is run out of double wide, but staff is friendly and make you feel welcome.
