About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.
West Palm Beach Golf Course has hosted a variety of tournaments since opening in 1947, some that have included famous players such as Arnold Palmer. This historic course stands out from all of the area's public courses. Unlike Florida's many flat courses, West Palm Beach has an undulating terrain that provides interesting elevation changes. The course features elevated tees and greens and rarely is there a flat lie. The rolling hills are covered with native vegetation, palm trees, and mature pines and oaks. There is also no water to be found on the golf course, another rare occurrence in this area. In 2009, the course underwent a major renovation that made it environmentally friendly. There is also a full grass driving range and large practice area that overlook West Palm Beach Golf Course.

Best Value in WPB
This course is a great value for the bucks. Greens are in good/excellent shape and fairways are good. The challenging sand dunes and hazards are unique and pose a nice change of pace from water. Letting you hit more long shots.
Too many waste areas - they call them traps - but not
This course ahs a ton of waste areas - although they refer to them as large traps - not. The price was right but i would not return. Not fun being in the sand half the day. The course is not aestically pleasing which helps when the game is going well. I wouldn't return wven at the discounted price.
Greens were in good shape. Multiple tee boxes.
Great location
Well worth the money, some greens and fairways could use a little work.
Great Greensa, lots of sand
WPB CC is a very good course but you better hit it fairly straight as there is a lot of sand. When they redid the course, they removed the Australian pines and now the rough is mostly sugar sand. The greens were in great condition, the best I've ever seen them. Looking forward to playing there again in the near future.
The clubhouse is temporally closed as it scheduled for demolition.
My review
Great experience. I look forward to returning soon.
This course has great features
great course for the location and the price , my firend love it
the course is fun
my wife and I were paired with another couple very enjoyable day course is in fair shape some work needed in fairways and greens. No water hazards lots of sand traps if you position yourself you can score a memorable round
Like golfing in a sand box
The course is built on a sand deposit. The fairways are surrounded with sand. There are sand traps on all fairways and surrounding most greens. Course could have used some water hazards.
Wide open fairways, lots of sand
My understanding is that holes on this course pre-reno were lined with pines. Now where those trees once were it's just sand, sand and more sand. On the bright side, you never lose a ball, but it can get a little annoying plodding through the sand on every other hole. Ton of bunkers, as well. Fairways are pretty wide open so if you are reasonably accurate you should enjoy this course. That all being said, you can regularly play this course at a deep discount... So, how can you really complain
This use to be a great golf course.
This use to be a great golf course but has been let go by the city of West Palm. Fairways are very sandy and the rough is basically waste bunkers. The club house is closed and will be demolished this fall. The best I can say is the greens are excellent. And if you do decide to play here bring your best "sand game".
Good value
I enjoy playing West Palm. its a good value for the money. They have a putting green and chipping area close together to work on your short game before going out and a full range. Grass is always a little chewed up on the range. Great thing about West Palm for the high handicapper is NO WATER HAZARDS, so you are able to keep more balls in play. Bad thing is the water has been replaced by sandy waste areas, so if you end up in that sand it can be a little tricky to get out. Greens are good other than the occasional ball mark that wasn't repaired correctly and usually play firm and fairly fast. Fairways are firm and generally in good shape too except as you get out on the edges its starts to get chewed up and you think you are hitting off a solid lie but its really just sand beneath and will grab your club head unexpectedly. Worth playing.
Tight lies everywhere
Great value for 30 bucks midday weekday. Greens are in pretty good shape. Course was dry and I had no soft lies either time I played here, but that helps improve ball striking. No water at all on this course; I have not lost a single ball in 36 holes and I am a 22 handicap. I would consider these par 3s pretty tough even from white. The par 5s are forgiving, to balance things a bit. Good variety in hole layout. One of my favorite places to play.!
Do you like beach sand?
This course is loaded with quality green side bunkers and loads of waste areas. Greens are true and fast. Course is very flat and long for those big hitters but with 5 tee boxes there is something for everyone.
Niveau de satisfaction
C'est la première fois que nous avions l'occasion de jouer sur un terrain sans plan d'eau. C'est spécial.Nous étions 5 joueurs et nous l'avons trouvé assez intéressant pour y retourner dans nos vacances...
good course to play
A good long course. Playablety can be hard for average player.
Find another course
Very poor conditions, but greens were OK. Club house was closed apparently from termite infestation. Low price but still not worth it.
Great price
Good con. Nice price, miss the clubhouse were we could relax after playing golf.
Superb greens
Super greens, just a pity about the fairways , some were looking very tired.Far too much sand adjacent to the fairways so try to hit long and straight. This is one of the few courses where non of our group lost a ball.
Staff need to polish up their act.No body to greet us at the bag drop so we had to unload ourselves.Starter was friendly enough but easily confused.
When we finished exit to bag drop was blocked so ,once again,we had to unload ourselves and carry our clubs to the car park!!!
However for 35 bucks it's terrific value.
NOTE, clubhouse is undergoing a major refurb,so no catering.
