About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.
West Palm Beach Golf Course has hosted a variety of tournaments since opening in 1947, some that have included famous players such as Arnold Palmer. This historic course stands out from all of the area's public courses. Unlike Florida's many flat courses, West Palm Beach has an undulating terrain that provides interesting elevation changes. The course features elevated tees and greens and rarely is there a flat lie. The rolling hills are covered with native vegetation, palm trees, and mature pines and oaks. There is also no water to be found on the golf course, another rare occurrence in this area. In 2009, the course underwent a major renovation that made it environmentally friendly. There is also a full grass driving range and large practice area that overlook West Palm Beach Golf Course.

Three groups, almost a fourth on every hole after #4. No ranger present. Called pro shop. Said they send out ranger. Never happened. Complained again-shop help said: what do you expect-its a municipal course.
We like this course, but often so slowly
The Starter let two men to play before us and they are so so slowly. I ask now where was the marshall.
beautiful course
this course has great futures and for this rate ,i going play again
Plenty of trouble to get into!
Sure, there isn't a drop of water to hit into but there is plenty of sand...no shortage of sand.
The waste bunkers take a lot of getting used to. I found them much more difficult to get out of than the green side bunkers. Almost all the greens are protected by bunkers...approach shot to the green is essential.
Very friendly staff and well groomed course make for an enjoyable game.
Nice course; great value for the discounted rate.
Decent course for novice players (like me). No water, so very few lost balls. The bunkers can be a challenge and there is a lot of natural scrub area with white sand, so even with no water, you can lose a ball. Overall, it was a very nice course for the pre-paid discount GolfNow rate.
If you like sand this is the course for you.
A few years back this course was completely and I mean COMPLETELY redone. It went from being a very woodsy course with fairways lined with trees to very wide open and loaded with sand. I prefer the old layout. That said the greens were in excellent condition but the fairways were a little choppy. The other truly remarkable feature for a course in Florida - no water - zip, zilch, zero.
Très beau green
Très beau terrain et bien entretenue avec des verts très rapide
No water holes, lots of sand and waste bunkers and good greens.
The greens were outstanding. They were quick, smooth, with lots of undulations. In fact, I played 5 different courses in FL this month and found these greens to be much better than any of the other courses.
My only real criticism of the course is that it took us nearly 5 hours to finish our round.
Greens in great shape.
Greens are soft but in great shape! Fairways are pretty rough and could use some attention. Its a forgiving course if you are a good sand player, but by no means easy if you play the black tees. We had a steady 15 mph wind which was in our face 75% of the time. For the money its the best deal around.
Its a public course
Have always enjoyed the lay out of West Palm. However it always seems either the greens are in great shape, and the fairways need attention or vice versa. Greens rolled well this weekend and the staff was nice but the fairways were choppy and bunkers inconsistant. A little more effort would make a huge difference, but still worth a look.
Not pretty
To go out and practice your game, this is a great value. If you're looking for a spectacular day in the sun enjoying the beautiful surroundings and breathtaking views, don't come here. The course is not pretty. The view of the surrounding neighborhood is nothing but the back of a shopping strip mall, a water tower and little else.
But what the heck, for $18 it's a great value.
Great $ value
The course is wide open with waste areas on both sides of very wide fairways. You don't have to be a very straight hitter to hit fairway due to the width.
Sand protects most greens and the traps are full of fine sand--stay out of them.
Great Golfnow value for the money.
Enjoyed the course
Course has no water hazards but plenty of sand. Greens recently aerated but in good shape. Fairways also in good shape.
I liked the course, but didn't like the obnoxious ranger!
I don't need some power hungry ranger telling our foursome 3 times to keep up with the group in front of us, then follows us for 3-4 holes, then we find a yellow ball on our approaching green with the message- "keep up with group ahead"- guess what, when we caught up to the group-it was a THREESOME!! And when we finished our 18 with scores of 82, 85, 95 & 100, we finished in 3 hrs & 45minutes!!!! Ridiculous for this clown to rush us as he did- ruined a couple of holes by opening his mouth- just saying!!!!
friendly
nice and friendly with the few raccoons however I have played a 9 hole course at polo West located in Wellington Florida that's really nicebut I can say this course is some place that I would recommend meeting friends in playing 18
I like the elevated greens.
Really a fun course. Fairways were aerated the day of play but we really enjoyed playing this course. Look forward to the next time.
Enjoyable course to play
Very nice and well maintained course. Staff personnel friendly. Good practice facilities
Good challenge but fun
Course had a lot of rain prior to our play but still drained very well. Greens had been aerated 5 days earlier but still putted quite well. Ought to be excellent by now! Fun to play and nice folks! Site of a formed PGA tour stop. Ask about their claim to fame!
