West Palm Beach Golf Course has hosted a variety of tournaments since opening in 1947, some that have included famous players such as Arnold Palmer. This historic course stands out from all of the area's public courses. Unlike Florida's many flat courses, West Palm Beach has an undulating terrain that provides interesting elevation changes. The course features elevated tees and greens and rarely is there a flat lie. The rolling hills are covered with native vegetation, palm trees, and mature pines and oaks. There is also no water to be found on the golf course, another rare occurrence in this area. In 2009, the course underwent a major renovation that made it environmentally friendly. There is also a full grass driving range and large practice area that overlook West Palm Beach Golf Course.

Great Opportunity to play a great course!!
I played this course back in 2010 after the renovation, the play was something I would call boring and time consuming. But have played this course twice in the last two weeks and have committed to playing this course as a regular going forward. Great staff, great conditions. The play could be faster if the staff stays out on the course a little later.
Pretty good for public course
The course is generally maintained but could use some sprucing up. For a public course in this area it is not bad. I have played this course many times before and will continue to play it because the guys I play with like it.
A fun, challenging course.
Courteous staff. The sand everywhere is "different" and takes a little getting used to (visually). With the wind, you really have to know your distances. Great course to hone ones game. Well maintained. It took 4 1/2 hours to play.
Nice experience.
Lot of wasteland caused difficulties to a player of my skills but never the less I enjoyed playing there. We were only 3 in our group so we had to wait a little but fortunately on hollyday there is hurry nowhere.

Lots of sand
The fairways and greens were in very good condition for a city owned course. There were lots of natural sand areas along many fairways (in addition to numerous traps) which made for a more challenging round. No water to worry about.
West Palm Beach Golf Course
Course was in excellent shape. Greens were true. Fairways well kept. Only negative was pace of play with some foursomes. No ranger to keep them moving. Otherwise an excellent well priced GC. Will play it again.
Great South Florida Public Course
Be prepared to play with other people if you don't bring a foursome. Course was in great condition and is maintained well. There is alot and I mean alot of sand. If you are not accurate you will be in the sand and the sand around the greens are steep. There is sand guarding both sides of almost every green so an accurate approach shot is a must.
great course, wonderfull landscape
we played the course in four hours, was a bit crowded, some golfers played tried to to push and to overtake other flights..
but we enjoyed the beautifull and challenging holes, the well designed landscape with a lot of different trees, the good condition of the greens.

No forgiveness in this public course. Sand waste areas add several strokes.
The greens were really great for this time of year. The fairway grass appeared to be dormant. Very little cushion in the fairways. Water or refreshments were hard to comeby on the course. No beverage girl. No ice machine. Only one water cooler found on the course. The players on the course didn't rake after themselves. If you hit into a greenside bunker plan on being in someone's footprint. The sand in the bunkers had various consistancies.

A beautiful setting with holes on both the Atlantic and the inter coastal. Greens are well maintained as is the rest of the course.

Since the re-design, I've never been disappointed in the conditions of the tees, greens, & fairways. Sure, the sand waist areas can be a pain, but overall, I really like the course.

The course is well maintained, greens are nice and is very good value. The beach sand in the waist bunkers is a little bit annoying, but doesn't detract much overall.
Excellent experience
Staff very friendly. Early morning tee time allowed great pace of play. Local groups allowed me to play through as a single. Greens were smooth. Windy conditions made for some difficult shots. Totally enjoyable experience.

Greens and fairways were very playable. There are a lot of sand traps that could be avoided if you shoot straight. Fairways are of good width. There is no water on the course making it an aesthetically lacking course
THIS COURSE HAS TO MUCH SAND
EVERY TIME THE BALL WAS TO THE SIDES OF THE FAIRWAY IT WOULD RUN OFF THE SIDES OF THE FAIRWAY INTO THE SAND THAT RUN ALMOST ALL OF THE FAIRWAY .
