We have played here lots and everything was in good shape but this time both the fairways and greens were quite bad. Will not go back until it has improved. We love this course.
Michigan Golfer
Greens were in rough shape, so it made it hard to putt on. Never made a put all day and somehow managed to shot 80. Stay in the fairway because so called rough was no weeds or grass all sand. Felt like you were in the sand traps. But a little better shape than the Lake Bernadette. Also, the snowbirds had left so played course in 3hr and 15 min Had 3 some. Twice before all most 6 hours to play.
Fun Course
We like to play here regularly, however, recent price increases have dampened our enthusiasm somewhat. Course is fun to play with some holes challenging, some family easy. Fairways need some help, but maybe summer rains will help. Will play again for sure.
It was worth the $25 I paid
I've enjoyed Southport over the years and the neighborhood that it's in is small but pleasant. I really like the bar and the food at the 19th Hole. The course was ok but not being able to drive on the fairways is this time was not what I wanted. The greens were in terrible condition so the best play was just tee to green. I did make an Eagle on the Par 4 16th so that was worth it alone.

Wow, enjoyed the greens especially! Friendly clubhouse service with phenomenal starters. Verrry tight back nine!
Tree lined fairways. I should've hit more irons off the tee in that back nine!😎🏌️♂️⛳️🫡
Don’t play Southport Springs
We thought we would play Southport again as last year it was marginal when we played it. Mistake!! It was worse this year than it was last year. Fairway grass is nonexistent on many of the fairways. Many of the tee boxes were also just dirt. All of the greens had issues from no grass to extremely slow. We thought we would eat before we golfed but it was also not as good as previous years. My Philly didn’t have any flavor like no seasoning was added to the meat and the wife’s soup was not good ans she only ate a little of it.
I hate to say all these bad things about Southport, but it needs some serious work and money invested to make this course playable again. They are in the process of buying new carts but I think they should repair the old carts and put more money into course conditions.
Never written a review before but this course is so horrible that people should be warned about it. Keep in mind here I shot a 93 in 18. Most of the population consists of the angry elderly who try to rush you and act like they have things to do later in the day just to hit their ball 10 yards a stroke. I can’t speak for everyone because I’m sure there are some nice people within the older population that golf here but needless to say this course definitely houses a few of the worst kind of elderly in terms of attitude. The starter at the course has a very strict and horrible attitude, especially because he acts like the course is packed with tee times yet there are 4 cars in the parking lot, one being mine.
This course takes the record for worst greens I have ever played on, there wasn’t a single green without damage. Horrible hole placement, I can’t really find a positive thing to say about this course. Not even worth spending $10 for a round here. If you want the equivalent of Dick’s Last Resort treatment but for a golf course, please try here you’ll love it!
Don't bother
Calling it a goat ranch seems appropriate. Worst condition that I have ever seen it in.
greens
The greens were horrible and long. Not one green had no damage and they put the pins in the most damage location.
