Silverado Golf & Country Club
About
Silverado Golf & Country Club is situated just north of Tampa in scenic Zephyrhills. It is a par-71 layout but for low handicappers, it can be extended to a par 72 by turning the lengthy 10th hole into a challenging par 4. The area's natural beauty is defined by the mature oaks that date back over 100 years and the abundant wildlife, including red tail hawks, geese, and foxes. The landscape provides an excellent round of golf, which is further enhanced by the year-round temperate climate. Bunkers treacherously lurk throughout and the occasional water hazard also comes into play. The golf course offers some challenging holes but overall, it is approachable for a range of skill levels. Silverado finishes with a par 4 that requires a difficult carry in order to make it past the pond in the middle of the fairway. Those who strategize carefully will be rewarded with a birdie.

Good course
Course was in good shape couple greens needed work but overall good condition best draining course around
Fivesomes allowed
WARNING!!! This course allows fivesomes, with no requirement that the members of said fivesome have any golfing abilities at all. We finally skipped a hole and passed the group and had an enjoyable time. We like the course and play it regularly. Good value for the money and course conditions are fair. Will play it again, but don't like the slow groups that slow the entire course down.
Siliverado (The Old Homestead)
Course was a bit wet in some spots but other wiase good. Greens a tad bit slow. The starter was not up front with us as we had an 7:00 AM Tee Time and were there on time. He told us that there were a couple of member groups ahead of us. Then there was another group after the members group when we asked him about that group who we knew were not a members group he totally ignored us. He turned his back on us and walked toward the group that was in front of us and told them that they were next. Soooo we did not start at 7:00AM...Thought it was very rude of the starter to totally ignore us know thiat we had the 87:00 tee time and know that we should have been going out before that group went out. To not reply to our question was not a way to run a golf course. The poor rating is for the conduct of the starter..........
Enjoyable Silverado
Had a fun day at Silverado where we were lucky enough to be paired with a real friendly local called Tommy who was great company and helped point out best ways to play some of the trickier holes. Course was extremely busy due to Labour Day so front 9 was slow though things improved during the back 9. Greens were punched recently so could have been better and Tommy did say they were really smooth before this was done. Nice welcome on arrival as well as in the bar
Greens rough
Recently aerated the greens. Courtesy would be to 1) let you know, and 2) maybe a discount. Otherwise a very dependable value
Coach O
They could update their equipment to punch greens with the smaller holes or at least give notice to players after punching. I’ve played punched greens with the smaller holes and the ball holds the line much better. Great course otherwise
Fun course to play; some challenging holes
We play this course about 2-3 times a month. Usually the greens are excellent, but for the last two times, a few of them are having problems, especially #1.
Under maintained.
The greens are starting to deteriorate. The pace of play was almost five hours on a Saturday morning.
Priced Right For the Money
Number one and number three green were in need of repair. Looks like it's the same bug that's affected a lot of golf courses. Other than that piece of play was good and good value for the money. Course otherwise was well maintained.
Dry Ball washers
I have asked for THREE MONTHS for water to be put in the ball washers. I receive repeated promises that this will be done but it is not. It may seem like a small thing but this attention to customer service should be automatic.
Good but
The worst green by far is the first green. It is so disappointing to start such a great looking hole with such a terrible green condition. I’ve play here many times but this time was the worst when it comes to mosquitoes. It was intolerable. There were in your ears on every shot every step. It is like they are not fumigating for them. I will not be returning until the mosquitoes situation gets under control.
Solid 80
Course was in good shape. Bunkers a bit shoddy amd muddy due to rain and some water spots in the fairway but otherwise okay. Pace of play was good.
They're trying
According to the staff the owners are foreign business men who didn't maintain the course and it clearly fell into disrepair; however, a former employee leased the property from the owners and he's working hard to bring it up to standards. They've got a long way to go, but they've got plenty of equipment and help working hard.
