Silverado Golf & Country Club
About
Silverado Golf & Country Club is situated just north of Tampa in scenic Zephyrhills. It is a par-71 layout but for low handicappers, it can be extended to a par 72 by turning the lengthy 10th hole into a challenging par 4. The area's natural beauty is defined by the mature oaks that date back over 100 years and the abundant wildlife, including red tail hawks, geese, and foxes. The landscape provides an excellent round of golf, which is further enhanced by the year-round temperate climate. Bunkers treacherously lurk throughout and the occasional water hazard also comes into play. The golf course offers some challenging holes but overall, it is approachable for a range of skill levels. Silverado finishes with a par 4 that requires a difficult carry in order to make it past the pond in the middle of the fairway. Those who strategize carefully will be rewarded with a birdie.

Pace of play
Somebody missed the boat on moving the clocks ahead 6 groups trying to tee off in the dark ....they should have known better...and had a shotgun start ....no apologies...nothing almost a 6 hour round ...come on
not worth 27$
on site it was 40$. THAT'S a joke. in hindsight $27 was a joke. 10$ maybe. tees were uneven mounds of sparsely mown grass, fairways very uneven conditions many times had to move the ball from hardpan, greens ok but amazingly slow. maintenance on the course is non existent. in my opinion a cow pasture could be created easily within 2 months and evidence of a golf course would be completely erased.
absolutely no comparison to heritage isles or pebble creek in same area. please consider these before going here
Course in great shape
The greens have been imoroved since I as there last. They are in super shape and nicely challenging.
Pro shop/web site issues
Actually played in charity event on 3/2/19 and went back to play on 3/8. Website showed several tee times for the afternoon, including some with other golfers. Got there and first thing I noticed is zero carts for anyone at all. (got there about 12:25pm).
Went into pro shop to ask about playing and got the rudest kid ever imaginable. Treated my wife like dirt. "what do you want". I asked about playing and he stated no tee times that afternoon until after 3pm. I asked why website said i could make tee time for several times. He stated didn't know and didn't care. I couldn't make a tee time that day he stated rudely. I told him that advertising tee times on their own website (not including golfnow) was fraudulent and false advertising. They did not care.
From what I heard on playing the prior week. New ownership as of December 2018.
Fairways getting very very bare/rough was non-existant, lots of straggly areas. Greens were ok but fairly slow. And 7-7.5 on Stimp, I'd estimate. (i used to carry low single digit <5 until hurt oblique 18 months ago).
Lot of very short holes Anyone that can average over 230 off tee can reach most par-5s in two and several par-4s drive (from white tees). No rough to cause issues. Some water is major issues. Or out of bounds to houses. From senior tees - about 5,000 yards and Slope is less than 100. About 110 from white tees.
Course has really gone downhill over the last year or so. And too soon to tell about new ownership. Pro-shop seems very very cliquish. If you're a regular and buddy then they treat you well otherwise, you are marginally tolerated at best and some days not at all.
Over booked
Booked a tee time 5 days in advance 8:07
By the time we were supposed to tee off they were already 45 minutes behind . Starter said a group of 14 showed up with 21 players. All other players then had to wait so they could accommadate that group.
This was a poor choice on their part .
I like this course but my time is too valuable
To leave to other peoples poor planning
I won't be back for a while and that's a shame , I like the course
Another great time!
Had a blast playing this course. The greens are sneaky tilted, and a variations of sizes and shapes.
Will be back to play again for sure
Scramble on back 9 without notification
We had a early tee time, 6:52 a.m. We moved right along on the front 9 and then came to a halt due to a 4 person scramble on the back 9. We were never notified about this. I would have gave the course a better overall rating if not for this.
Course in great shape. Priced right.
Greens were the best I’ve been on in a while. Friendly staff. A mix of open holes and some target golf.
Overall a nice course
Loved the layout, fairly open fairways with little trouble. Greens were slow but it rained lightly prior to my round.
The course is not marked well between holes BUT we found our way around. Pace was good even though there were lots of golfer on the course.
Snack bar was well stocked and beer was cold
The course is average but it’s close for me..
First time playing it this year not bad but not great either .Would come back when it greens up more.
