David L. Baker Memorial Golf
About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

Great course
Plays fast on a weekday (3 1/2 hours), not so much on a weekend. Tee boxes could use some TLC, but overall condition of the course is great. Will definitely play again soon.
Not the greatest
The course fairways were fair and the greens had lots of divots. Pace of play was slow. We had tee times at 6:15, but there were several players claiming they had standing tee times at 5:45 and 6am. No starting tee manager to manage players teeing off to keep the pace moving.
Worst golf course in OC
Worst conditions I've seen here in a long time. Extremely slow pace of play. Our tee time was 7:22 and we teed of around 7:45. How can you be that backed up that early?
Every single tee box was horrendous. Greens were very thick in some areas and poorly maintained.
Wait until you get to the 14th hole where the lake looks and smells like a toilet. Yes. TP in the lake too!
Waaaaaaayy over priced for this venue. Oh and our round was 5 hrs for a par 62. Yikes.
Fairways and Traps need help
Fairways have a lot of bare places and grass is being invaded with non-grass ground cover.
Senior player
Needs work, showing its age. Water hazard's need work, one smelled like sewage. Dead trees, course need rain, still a fun course
Overall fun time
Lots of bare spots on the fairways and some greens are a bit messy. Unfortunately this course seems to get lots of golfers who do not fix green their marks. I was fixing at least 5 per green. Obviously not the course's fault. A bit pricey for this course.
Today
The walkers slow the game so much. Should have separate tee times for walkers and cart people
Nice little course
I’ve been meaning to try this course out for years and finally made it happen. We had a 12:52 tee time and it was backed up a little when we got to the first tee. There was a twosome getting ready to tee off at 1:00. We were also a twosome so I asked what time their tee time was and they said 12:45, so the were about 15 minutes behind. They were nice enough to let us join them which saved us at least 25 minutes. The tee boxes left a lot to be desired, but we made the best of it. The green had several I repaired divots, but they were in decent shape other than that. There were several holes that brought water into play which made it fun and more challenging. All in all it was a great experience and we will definitely come back.
As for the pace of play, it’s a par 62 and we finished in about 4 hours, so it’s average at best. I did talk to a golfer after we were walking to our car that said his party quit after 13 holes because of the people in front of them. I told them it can happen at any golf course and it’s basically the luck of the draw.
Get a Marshall, please
We had a tee time before 8:30 on a Saturday. We got there on time, but they were already backed up, 4 groups deep. For a course of this size on a weekend we we expected to play about a 3-4 hour round. Well, it ended up being 5+ hours. Super frustrating. Help of a marshall would have been good. Probably won't be back.
