About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

Great course
Course greens are very well kept. Got stuck behind a super slow group that started the back nine. Totally threw rest of round off as got stiff and tired from waiting so long. Most places give full 18 priority over back nine starts. Didnt see signage but maybe missed it. Good mixture of par 3 and 4 holes. Driving Range is nice and distance markers are easily seen. Had 5 am tee time so recommend light up balls as neon colored balls disappear as its still too dark and only need them for first 4 or so holes. Couple of water hazards so know where they are and you can lose a couple if you over shoot the green too. Overall great and fun course enjoy golfing here and will continue to do so
Fairly Easy, poor fairway and the slow green course
We did not know this course had only per 62. Some hole is weird 186 yard Par 3.It has a wavy car-path towards all the way to the green; on the line to the flag. It was very difficult to focus to the green for tee off.
Fairway is very sad. It is mixed with many kind of weeds and bumpy. Many bare spots were stopping a golf ball for run.
We will not return to this course.
Worthwhile
Lay out nice. Nice water features. Some parts of fairway dry and sometimes no grass. Greens bumpy and slow. However it is fun to play. Driving range needs new balls
Meh...
I was a little disappointed by the lack of Marshall because people were not acting with golf etiquette.
Bunkers
I was very disappointed with the bunkers. They were rock solid.
Little pricey for what you get
Pros: the layout is fun, the staff and cart girls are always great. POP is usually an issue, but today was excellent.
Cons: The tee boxes are a mess and very uneven, sand is wet and compacted, greens are bumpy.
This course has great features
We love this course for many reasons:
1) Friendly staff
2) closed to home. Convention, center of the city, closed to many restaurants so after we finished our round we can go to dinner.
3) Course layout challenge enough and long enough for our level.
Good as always!
Great course to run a quick round. I’ve never run into an issue with over booking, and the course is always kept up well. Definitely my go to course (local) for a good price and guaranteed clean course.
