David L. Baker Memorial Golf
About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

Go to mile square
Staff is no help. Place smells horrible. Even for 19 bucks it ain’t worth it. Called online 2 weeks ago on a Sunday and booked a tee time. Now all of a sudden they don’t book tee times though the phone on Saturday or Sunday. That’s one way to lose business
David L Baker Golf FV
Course is always fun & a quick 18 holes. Only issue I have is the horrible raw sewage smell from some of the holes on the West side of course. That needs to be corrected.
This course needs work done.
All is good except for the terrible smell. The water ponds are disgustingly smelly and need to be cleaned
Hi CWilson194, thanks for your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed your visit, but we’re sorry to hear about the smell. We’re actively working on improving the water ponds and appreciate your input as we strive to enhance the experience for everyone.
What's that smell?
Good value for the money, but there are some holes where it's difficult to breath....might be the pond scum, not sure, but just an indescribable stench
Gohbahwoo, we appreciate your feedback! We're glad you found value, but we're sorry to hear about the issues with air quality and odor. We’re actively working on this issue and hoping to have it resolved in the coming days. Thank you for bringing it to our attention!
Mediocre facilities
Value for the money is the only reason to golf here when all others are booked. Decent food/bev operation. Greens are fine and as most public SOCAL courses the conditions are suffering from drought. No standard distance markers (on ground) on tee box or fairway stakes. Driving range lacks rubber tees on mats unless BYO and nothing said by proshop. Decent layout with some ok way finding signage but can be confusing to find holes.
Hi there u468144020, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate your comments about the value for money and food/beverage options. We will take your suggestions about the course conditions and lack of distance markers into consideration for future improvements. We hope to see you back soon!
Thanks for your feedback, Rson03. We’re sorry we did not live up to expectations. If you’d like to share any details, please send us a message.
Fun little course
This is a fun little course. Not too challenging but a great workout for your short game. The pace was too slow due to a foursome that didn’t drive the ball very far. Overall it was a very nice golf course that I will return to visit again soon.
Poor Conditions throughout.
First let me start with range, they should be embarrassed by the hitting mats, they are in horrible condition and filthy not to mention the range is one big dirt pit no grass or turf to be found.
As far as the course, the greens are in bad condition and they didn’t appear recently aerated. The “sand” bunkers were so packed in it was more like clay bunkers! Could be a fun practice course if the grounds keepers took care of it.
Hi 1973rcs, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your honest review and will pass along your concerns to our maintenance team. We strive to provide a pleasant experience for all our guests and will work diligently to address the issues you mentioned.
First time playing this course
Was my first time playing this course and as a beginner, it's a great beginner course
Decent course
David L Baker is a great course! Lots of fun! Although, my GF and I did have an issue with some people who were high as a kite behind us and our cart died on the 15th hole.
Hi dodgerlife2020, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're glad to hear you had a great time at David L Baker despite the minor inconveniences you encountered. We appreciate your support and hope to see you back on the course soon.
Getting worse…
I’ve played here many times over the years, and today was my second consecutive experience that was not worth the price of admission. While not entirely the fault of the staffs, the pace of play here is atrocious. I’m no pro, but was always taught to “play bad fast” and apparently no one at DLB follows that rule. Each of the last two times I’ve played here, I have watched someone shank a tee shot over the fence near the street and instead of taking the L and leaving the ball, they wait by the fence until someone walks by so that they can flag them down to get their ball. All while a line of carts is forming. I’ve never seen a larger lack of self awareness than at this course. I’ve played here dozens of times over the last ten years and I don’t plan to be back anytime soon, unfortunately.
Hi u000006262130, we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We apologize for the pace of play issues you experienced during your recent visits. Your concerns will be shared with our team for improvement. We value your loyalty and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.
Good course!!
I played this course for the first time last Thursday. It’s a really great course! A lot of fun, challenging, beautifully crafted! The only downside is a little slow pace of play but also a little confusing course layout!
Good value. Friendly, courteous staff.
Slow pace of play, but good value. Friendly courteous staff.
Hi 2VdMbWSVnjNhHWYZehoq, thanks for your feedback! We’re glad you enjoy the course but apologize for the smells from our lakes. We’re actively working on this issue and hoping to have it resolved in the coming days. Your experience matters to us, and we’re committed to improving.
