Bay View Golf Club

They finally came to their senses and are actually offering great weekday value prices for green fees. $30 in the South Bay....yes, I’m not kidding you. However, that’s balanced out by $14 for a medium bucket of balls. Seriously? That said, the conditions were awesome. Excellent fairways, rough, and fringe. Greens are great too. Some of the greens have a slope, but I didn’t mind. Teed off early and finished in just over 3 hours with a pair ahead of me. Best course for those that like a walking challenge, which is why I went here. Lots of hills, but really fun. Definitely will be back!

This is for a novice or better golfer. New golfers will have a long day. But if you’re there to enjoy friends and take some swings, anyone should go. Staff was great!

Great course welll maintained greens at nice, tee box at nice will play here again

From what I have read the course is in much better shape than before. While that might be the case the course still has a long way to go.

The Good-State of the art carts with GPS and ability to order food. The greens were fast and ran pretty true. The bunkers were excellent with all new sand. Pace of play was good.

The Bad-Those same state of the art carts were restricted in most areas past the the middle of the fairway. they didn't just slow down they stopped and the only way to get back to where you needed was to go in reverse. Also as your cart is shown on the GPS map they can easily show other carts on the same hole. This would help as there are several blind tee shots and some you had to wait until you saw the carts at the green before you could safely tee off. I can imagine this impedes pace of play a little bit.

The greens-while fast they looked horrible, almost like thousands of pitch marks but upon closer inspection might be left over from aerating the greens but they did theirs before my home course and my home course is already back to normal.

All in all it was a fun course to play, but at $80 plus cart fee I probably won't be back.

Seriouly. I prepaid for all 4 of us and drove 45 min from Santa Cruz.

When we arrived, they said that back nine was closed for maintenance. UPON ARRIVAL!!

They offered if we wanna to play at their simulator screen golf, which we have at home too!!

We didn't drive all the way to play 9 holes or screen golf.

Played on a Saturday morning. Took 3 hours to play 9 holes, then there were 4 groups backed up on 10 so we quit. Didn't see a marshal on the course but could have used one. Course is cart path only enforced by GPS which further slows down play. We booked a 8:42 tee time amd the clubhouse moved us to 8:33 without letting us know. Fairways amd greens were in good shape. Driving range is real grass which is nice but the balls are kind of odd floating balls due to the lake on the left of the range. I will not play here again, was too slow and not worth the $80 green fee.

I played this course about 3 years ago and it was not in great shape. However the new management seems to have upgraded the course and the facilities. Enjoyed the round, the course is in good shape now. The greens were slow as they had been punched...

This is course is nice but it is so completely frustrating that its cart path only, the entire course. Makes for a long day. Our game took 6+ hours, with groups backed up in front of us and the Marshall telling us to speed it up. Made no sense at all.

Good shape and fairways were in good shape. Greens just punched in past week so a bit slow and bumpy. Short course and didn’t need much after drives for approach shots. Staff was friendly and drinks/food were good. Can tell new owners are putting work in to make a great spot. Will play again

I played this course several months ago and didn't enjoy the round at all. The management seemed to want to take feedback seriously, even though they were condescending in my last review so I regrettably gave it another shot.

This experience managed to be worse.

At my arrival virtually everything went wrong until my tee time. When I showed up there was no parking. I had to wait 10 minutes to find a spot. When checking in I was informed that there would be no carts for a long time with no prior notice. This delayed my mid day tee time 35 mins. This course is not easily walkable and if people walk, it cripples pace. Since now I had time to kill I figured I would get range balls. They charge an absurd price ($8 for 40 balls or something) and it is irons only. But the range machine ran out of balls! So things were already a disaster before I even hit the course.

I finally got out and the course is in good shape but nothing exceptional. Once again it was still cart path only due to "renovations". I didn't see a notable difference from months before, outside of green fringes being a little nicer and they had punched the greens without any notice which made balls roll slow and bumpy. They leave the rough at tour length in many spots and have horrible weeds just outside the rough that are automatic lost balls. In some cases it was worse than harding before they hosted the PGA championship. You would think with cart path only they could mow the grass to a reasonable level. Also due to the cart path rule combined with the layout it also makes pace slow because you often have to walk up sloped fairways to get your ball. Overall the course is mostly a niceish muni course with some minor elements of a nicer course. Nothing that remotely warrants their rack rate for rounds.

They call themselves a "premiere silicon valley destination." The only things premier about this course are the carts and the view of the bay. Nothing about the golf experience is premier. I only plan on returning if it was free. This place is clearly more concerned with removing people from their money than providing a good golf experience.
