The Golf Club at Rancho California

First time playing today and our group really enjoyed the course. Bunkers were in good shape and well placed. It was a nice blend of some forgiving and challenging holes. The Grill had a good club sandwich with great views on the back patio. We will definitely be back.

Course condition greatly improved since last played. Greens in great condition. Many new white sand bunkers a nice feature. Was very enjoyable to play.

The course was well maintained and manicured. The staff was friendly and professional .

I have played here a few times. The staff is awesome. The practice area is good with both chipping, putting, and range area. The coarse is decent for the cost. A few bunkers throughout had nice new sand, the others are hard dirt even on green side bunkers. The greens are fairly nice. The only true downside is the pace of play. So far out of 3 rounds during week days I have yet to finish in under 4.75-5 hrs. The last round @9 am on a Friday I had time to sit down and have lunch with 3-4 4somes backed up on number 10 after the turn.. Total round time 5:25 min . All in all the coarse is good for the money as long as you don’t want to play fast! Bring your patience. Lunch was decent while we sat around for 30 min on 10.

Course is in great shape. Greens roll really good. Course needs to finish adding sand to bunkers.

I'm delighted to leave a positive review for this gem of a course. It's been a favorite since the 80s and 90s but at some point new owners came in and quality deteriorated. Now they're taking good care of the course and it's back in its old form. The RTJ design is great; every hole offers a different look and a different challenge. Brilliant white sand is being added to the bunkers but right now it's damp and very heavy. They look great but are difficult to play from and harder still to rake. Perhaps they'll get better after they dry out. Pace of play was excellent. Thanks to a couple nice groups who let us play through we finished in 3:20 (11am midweek tee-off). Great practice area. Snack bar is minimal but totally adequate.

I’m delighted to give this course a positive review after a long while of inconsistency. I loved this course back in the 80s and 90s when it was managed by the SCGA. At some point new owners came in, cut the maintenance budget, and it showed. Now it appears the course is being well cared for, and that’s only fitting for the outstanding RTJ design. Pace of play was great at 11am on a Wednesday, just 3:20 because a couple kind groups allowed us to play through. Only complaint would be numerous, deep footprints in the new bunkers. Yeah, the new sand is heavy and difficult to rake, but c’mon people, help take care of this gem!

Was a perfect day out there today. Back to back weeks playing here. Couldn't ask for better course conditions. Keep up the good work!

Conditions were great and pace was good. The layout was fantastic with some great views and cool holes. I thought the course would be harder given the slope rating, but as long as you play smart off the tee boxes it's not too challenging. If I lived closer I would play here all the time.

This was my first time playing here and before playing here I heard a ton of hate of how bad the conditions are compared to how they used to be. While I am sure that was true, I found the course conditions to be extremely good. The fairways and greens are in good shape and short, the rough is distinct but not overly punishing. Most of the green side bunkers have been renovated and filled with fresh white sand while fairway bunkers are still a little compact but completely acceptable.

The pace of play was okay, slower than I prefer but honestly golf is just a little slower these days everywhere.

The practice facility is nice as well. There is a large range that is off grass during the later part of the week. The range balls weren’t in great shape but it’s easy to over look when there are multiple putting greens and short game areas.

I think this course is going to continue to improve but as it stands, I do not think there is a better value for money in a 10 mile radius. Give this place a chance!

I've played here a few times over the last 6 months or so and have enjoyed it everytime. The course is in great shape and is very playable. The greens were in near perfect shape free of discoloration or potmarks. They rolled about a 9 or 10 as we started at 7 am with mosture still on the greens. This made it much easier to be agressive without the fear of getting a longer second putt. The fairways and rough were very playable. My only disappointment was the pebbles and rocks in the bunkers but a minor inconvenience to throw them out of the bunkers. The pace of play was 3:45 without pushing from behind or excessive waiting on the group ahead. The starter was very helpful and got me out 30 minutes early even after the pro shop made a big stink about me booking through golfnow and getting a discount:( If you're going to discriminate between full paying customers and smarter ones whom use a golfnow hot deal, then don't offer hot deals. Overall a great birthday round and I will definitely return for another round!
