No Marshall?
Played this course a few times now, probably won't be going back. We liked the course - it's in decent shape and the greens are, quite honestly, in great shape. The issue is the pace of play and, unfortunately, this seems to be a consistent issue. As we were waiting to tee off on hole number seven (behind another group who was waiting for the group ahead of them to finish up on the green), we were able to count a total of EIGHT groups bunched up on holes six, seven and eight. And no, that's not an exaggeration. We finished up after hole nine and called it a day. It's too bad, too - it's a decent course (especially for the money) but on the weekends you need to allow for about six to six-and-a-half hours for a round.
Employees are thieves
Do not leave anything behind or it will be stolen by one of the employees. I had just purchased a Buschnel Pro XE and used it for the very first time at this course. I had it attached to the golf cart and forgot it when I left. When I returned the cart, I brought it to the cart return area and unfortunately for me, I forgot to grab my rangefinder. The next day, I realized what I had done and I immediately called the course. I got a recording that said they were having technical difficulties and couldn't accept any phone calls. I have a friend who lives nearby so he stopped by the course for me and told them about the rangefinder we had left on the cart. The guy said no one had turned it in and the quickly claimed that sometimes customers take things off golf carts, almost like he knew an employee had taken it but he was covering for him. I've left things behind at other golf courses and they were ALWAYS there when I called about them. So if you want to play at this course, just don't forget anything on the golf cart or it will be stolen from you as well.
Nice course!!
Like the course like the rate of play greens were nice and somewhat fast!! Definitely would recommend it to others. Lots of targets on the driving range all in all fun day.
Fun Course
I enjoy this course a lot. The front nine has a lot of undulations and a variety of holes. The back nine is flatter and not quite as memorable. My only real complaint about the course is I wish the greens were quicker. The pace of play has been good when I’ve played here and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Marginal course
Knot grass starting to infiltrate greens. Greens are usually ok at this course but they are now marginal. Fairways as usual are sparse.
Know, before you play
The course is in decent shape greens were actually fast. The Course can definitely do some more maintenance to make the fairways and ruff more distinguishable. Pace of play for us that day was just over 4 hours but felts slow and we waited on every hole on the back 9 , and there was no starter to help direct guest to the right tee time. Although we got a sleeve of balls with the purchase of our round, I would rather have a practice warm-up bucket than sleeve balls. Nice thing was they did give us a hotdog. They just need more staff to help run course and maintain it! Play here if you want cheep price but expect a slow round.
Pace of play
Need a marshal to get guys going. Did see a group of 5. Which is uncommon
Don’t waist your money
Greens were in terrible shape, the rough is not being maintained tall weeds that were never there before. $41 twilight rate weekdayno food or drinks. The bunkers are not sand. This used to be our most common course for me and my group to play. Now it’s off the rotation.
Fun course
Greens were freshly punched, other than that some areas needed some work but still a fun layout. Pace is always good here for the 6-7am tee times.
Under new management???
It's under new management ?
The carts are more comfortable but....
No free food w a ticket
Carts are slower
The grass was only cut on the fair way. My cartner lost about 4 balls and he normally hits just off the green.
Its a little pricier ?
.....Hey take that extra money and pay another gardener to cut the grass!
Even with older carts. I liked it better before the change.
Price up, Value down
This course was always a great value for the money but not know. The carts are new, but the fairways are sparse and the greens which at least were always their best attribute were average. In this case, you don’t even get what you pay for…even on golf now.
Will Definitely Be Back
This course was outstanding. Had everything I could have wanted. The one downside is the lack of an ambassador. The bang for your buck as far as I’m concerned was phenomenal and I’ll 100% be back.
Not worth the money
For $30 bucks , this course was not worth it. Course conditions were subpar. It felt like I took my clubs to a local park and tried to play a round. Greens, fairways, tee boxes were in bad conditions. Pace was bad too, mostly because of people walking the course. I would not recommend this course to anyone at the price it cost to play here. For $30 (after 3 pm) you can play other courses in the area that are better overall.
I’ll be back
Didn’t much care for the course in the past but it’s beautiful now. Caught it on a great day and no one in front of us or pushing us. Lucky I guess.
I had fun
I would say this is the better course between the two in SB. Shandin hills has a better layout, some elevation changes, and a nice par 3 over some water. A lot of par 5s to try and get some nice drives. Greens were nice fairways were decent enough. Would definitely come back again. They just need a cart girl.
Not as uncommon as you think, I have played behind a group of 6 at this course, they take off and once out away from club house join up as they know there is no marshel.
