Started slow and ended slow... But the greens were so nice!
GENERAL:
A fun little course with awesome greens, but I don't know if I'll come back due to the extremely slow play and unfriendly staff. Fairways were very firm but bare in spots, greens were excellent. See below for more in depth explanation.
PACE OF PLAY: slow...took about 4:45 to finish 18. We were supposed to tee off at a bit after 6 but they were stacked up and we teed off about 15 minutes late. I think it's because they have tee times way too early before it's bright enough to see the ball so it stacks up early. Starter was stacking people on the tee box when other groups were teeing off but I think they were just trying to expedite the delay that had already begun.
FAIRWAYS: They were a bit sparse in places but generally were green. There were definitely areas that needed to be ground under repair that were not marked as such. The nice thing about them is that they were quite hard so you could play consistently for a lot of rollout.
GREENS: best thing here were the greens by far. They rolled straight and true and were probably some of the best I had seen on a public course for the price. They were challenging and fast today even when the dew was still on them. Excellent work on the greens.
BUNKERS:
Unfortunately I ended up in a couple today on the par 5s but they were really nice. Sand was fluffy and uniform. Greens crew did a nice job on these.
TEEBOXES: chewed up and uneven. Definitely need to have them mowed and regarded if possible.
LAYOUT: semi interesting course with most holes playing along side another hole with scattered trees to distinguish the layout. Spent a lot of time waiting for people to hit off of our fairways when they were playing adjacent. Might want to swap my golf hat for a hard hat... Almost got hit a few times.
"American Golf Will Put You In A Fivesome"
That was the quote from the starter on our Sunday round. I have played San Dimas over 20 times. Never a fivesome. I was having a great round but had to leave after 14 holes. We were at 5 hours and 45 minutes.... after we started 25 minutes late. It was so slow that the group ahead of us drank a whole liter of Vodka before 9 holes as we found their empty bottle on the ninth tee. The Starter and cashier are so grumpy (seen them there for the past couple of years) you wonder why the even work there. Sorry San Dimas the truth hurts. I used to like the course but it is now out of the rotation.
Too long of a day!!!
Pace of play was extremely slow. A 7 hour round is ridiculous. We didn't even want to finish. Had 2 guys drop last minute and was paired with an older couple with a handicap flag so we knew we were in for a long day. The couple was awsome and good people.. The 2 groups ahead of us, 1 was a 4 some, the other was a 5 some. they played together most of the day and made waiting for 9 guys to tee and then move down the course very tiresome. won't be going back.
Don't play here on the weekend
If you like 6 plus hours to play a round of golf with three groups waiting to tee off on every hole then this is the place for you. We all know that weekend golf can be a little slow but this place is ridiculous. Like most courses managed by American Golf they put way too many on the course without allowing any spacing between the groups teeing off. Almost every group we saw was a fivesome. We played an extremely slow round here a couple of months ago and we decided to give it another shot because I actually like the course. Unless you're lucky enough to be able to play during the week I would avoid this course. I know I won't be back.
Beautiful Greens and Scenic Views
Played here early on a Sunday morning in a shotgun start tournament. Weather was perfect and the greens were fast and in excellent shape. Pace of play was also ideal; without the shotgun start it would have been a lot slower. The course is on the shorter side, but plenty of trees, sand bunkers and some water hazards to make your round most enjoyable.
Great, great, great!!!!
One of the best courses we have played in a long time. The greens are excellent. We will be playing there often.
Fivesomes Surround
Saturday was my first round at SAN DIMAS, upon a co-worker's recommendation and I will not return. We were sent off as a two some rather than paired up with another group, and the course was totally over-crowded with fivesomes. It took nearly six hours to play and there was no ranger in sight to enforce pace of play. There are goofy, tricked-out holes that are challenging for a first time player, and many holes that feature trees in awkward spots in the middle of fairways, blocking approaches and penalizing good shots.
Great conditions
The course conditions were great, the pace for a Saturday afternoon was as expected.
Good fairways and great greens
This is course is fun! Fairways were maintained and greens were great. Pace of play was a little slow but usually faster. Would definitely recommend this course.
This course has terrible pace of play
We ended up playing a 6 hr round of golf. I don't think Los Verdes is that long. Either there are way too many 5somes or they cram too many tee times in during the day. I like the course layout but because of the pace of play I probably won't play for a while and try other courses.
Don't mind the front desk
Dude working at the front desk always seems so angry but I guess he does have to deal with idiots every time I'm there. Don't know why they let five sums play. Went on a Monday at 4 and a group of five cut us on 9. They cost us finishing by 5 holes. Then Wednesday a group of five started at our tee time and we had to jump them on 3. Overall the course is challenging and fun. Wish the guy who set up the tee boxes was better but still a fun course. Fast greens
average city course
average condition on the # 4 #5 #6 #7 kind of noisy with the construction worker are working near golf course.back 9 peace quiet.
No golf carts!
We arrived 30 mins earlier than tee time.
But we were not able to play on time because they don't have carts. We waited almost an hour and played. They have never said to sorry about inconvenience.
