fun place to play
In spite of now having cars parking on the fairways....there was not a bad fairway lie on any of the 18 holes.
Slow play
No Marshalls to get things moving...too many slow players and no pace of play enforcement makes for a very long day.
Don't Care
Since the course is a parking lot for the New Levi's Statium seems as though the county has forgotten about the course. No maps some signs missing and poor fairway conditions.
After the rain.
Considering all the rain we received lately, the course was in fairly good shape. There was standing water in the low spots and muddy areas near the cart paths in locations. It was cart path only no exceptions. The fairways were bare in spots and it looked like they are trying to address these areas. The greens were in good shape.
dry and bare fairways in spots
For the rate I paid on Good Friday, I really can't complain but most holes were backed up and we were not able to finish before dark, only played 17 holes.
Always enjoyable
Drought conditions aside, the course is very well maintained. The staff and restaurant staff great.
Some Things Never Change
Still a pace of play nightmare at Santa Clara. There a couple groups of regulars that shall remain nameless that are here pretty much the same time weekend mornings and these groups make the pace of play problem what it is, they could not care less (nor could the course marshal) about their effect on those behind them. They should have been banned from here long ago but again, the course management does not care and never has. Greens were in decent shape. Bunkers OK. Fairways have been ruined by lack of care and the recent installation of the poorly planned out in-course roadways put in to facilitate making this a parking lot for 49ers games. And then charging nearly $70 to play here? And needing a $5 key deposit like people are going to walk away with the 25 cent cart key? And growing weary of the foundation begging on the par 3's, I came here to play golf, not do charity work. Avoid this place if you can until they get it together. If they get it together.
Getting Better
Fairways were more covered though there are uneven spots near greens and stil large patches of brown/bare ground. Greens were fine.
Good value
Nice to see that the course is in the progress of trying to bring back areas on the course damaged because of the drought. Needs to fill in bunkers with more sand.
Typical American Golf course
Like most other American golf owned/ runned facilities, the condition is a 3 at most. Bare spots in the fairway. Tee boxes are like in random places that have grass left. The greens roll pretty slow. But sstaff was very friendly and the pace was good. Not bad value for the money.
I would come back because this place definitely needs local knowledge with all the blind tee shots. I should do better next time.
Slow play - slow greens
The title review says it all. I took my 10 year old daughter and her friends to play. they are not biginners ... They had to wait in every shot. We quit after 16 holes could not take it anymore!! The greens are slow and inconsistent . I did not see a Marshall all day !! No one to help the pace of play. If we played in a reasonable amount of time I would have givin a higher rating. I had played this course in the past and the greens were much quicker and consisatant
Good value if you have the time
Some fairways were bare in spots and you were hitting off of dirt. None of the dirt was marked as ground under repair. The layout for playing is very hard to follow and even the holes themselves are marked poorly for finding yardage. Greens felt like they hadn't been mowed in the last two weeks and were very slow and inconsistent. Price for the money was a very good value though as it came with cart for 18.
Not in 2-3weeks
I didn't get notified this course was aerated not too long ago. Green was in poor condition due to that.
Some fairways are in bad shape due to S.F 49ers using those for parking. But we had great day!
Grass is not good
Grass is not good.
Some Green is not good condition. Sand.
nice easy course
first time on this course. right across from new levi stadium fairway wet and a little sparse greens on the slow side, bomb away wide fair ways and you can cut doglegs on 2 with three par fives.
Very fast pace of play
I have played here many times before. But this past Monday 9/15 mid morning, the course was not busy. There were golfers on every hole but very few foursome. I finished 18 holes in 3 hours and 15 minutes. Will come back here again for sure.
Best play for the money
In the center of the silicon valley, hard to beilive that there is a 18 hole golf course. It is not the best green nor the fairway condition but i strongly recomend this course to anyone because fairly easy couse for any level of players and proxmity to the city. The one thing that I like the most is that the staff members are super nice. They all very friendly and smile alll the time,
The price is reasonable now after they started the little more disscount. I love the course.
First time at Santa Clara Golf Course
My overall first time experience at this golf course was good. Great course for people just starting out to play like me. The staff were friendly and helpful. The marshall at the 1st hole even went to the pro shop and got us a map of the course, which was very nice and helpful. The people who played around my tee time were also friendly. I will be coming back to play here again. =)
Stadium View
Traffic in and out and finding parking is bad due to event. Lateral water and wet on number of fairways.
not friendly to first timers
So many blind tee shots, no clue as to where the hole is! Right from the first hole, you have no idea where to aim. There is no map on the scorecard, and no depiction of the hole layout on the tee marker. Combined with a half hour traffic delay due to Levi's stadium, it made for a frustrating day. People familiar with the course layout and traffic probably love it. For someone who was constantly hitting over a hill until you knew it was dogleg left or right, it was not a fun day.
