From the practice green you can see parts of over half the holes on the front nine. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 07/15/2017
Great layout, fun to play
A great day at Bristow, unfortunately a slower than normal round since there was a frost delay, so the tee times were stacked pretty close. I would have given this review a higher rating, if not for the lack of any sand whatsoever in the bunkers. The clay was so hard, I just had to pull my ball out, not worth injuring your wrist.
Pace of play was worst part
The course put too many players in tight gaps. Took 3 holes in 1 hour pace...more wait than play itself...took 15 holes in almost 5 hours. Had to quit playing in the middle of 15th hole as it became too dark to play. The layout and couse condition are awsome.
Fix your Golf Carts
This is the first time all season that I have had a problem with a course golf cart.. not once but twice in the same round. The brakes froze up the first time so I had to walk back to the club house to get another cart on hole three. On hole 17 the cart accelerator didn’t operate properly so they had to bring out another cart. If they kept their carts working properly all this hassle could have been avoided….they should have refunded my round for all the inconvenience…
Great value
Bristow continues to challenge and delight golfers. The course was in great shape with greens rolling pure. The only thing I could pick at was the condition of the bunkers. They have mud instead of sand.
One of the best course in Virginia
Bristow Golf Course is always in top shape, and the greens are the fastest.
Mixed bag
Twosome, arrived 10 minutes before tee time and the starter seemed annoyed that we were "late." Was paired up with a single. Within 2 holes, we ran into a foursome who was playing EXTREMELY slow (2:30 front nine) and spent a lot of time looking for lost balls. I don't usually care about pace of play but this was bad, and there was no ranger to move them along. We hopped over them for the back nine and played it in exactly 2 hours. Oh the cart also died on the 5th hole and I had to call the clubhouse for assistance. The course is solid, not very forgiving, but my spouse (a novice golfer) seemed to enjoy it. Would recommend not spacing tee times 10 minutes apart UNLESS they plan to actually enforce pace.
Horrible pace of play, no refunds or rainchecks
I made it through four holes in an hour and a half. On the 5th hole, there was a four group back-up, with no marshal in site. I drove back to the clubhouse and asked for a raincheck or refund; I was told both were not within policy. They said the best they could do was let me tee off again from the first hole. This was my second time playing the course, the first round took five hours and thirty minutes due to similar backups.
Cart failed
Pace of play slow, busy Friday…cart issues at beginning and then failed again on hole 16….walked rest of course in to finish…nice course, good condition, tricky/tough layout
Nice rainy day round
Had the day off, other courses closed due to rain/wet/storms...found a window in the middle of the day with light mist/drizzle and played as a single...solid course, tight/tricky front side opened up on back 9...cart path only because of wetness but worked my way around course fairly well, last played here probably 15-18 years ago. will revisit soon! Recommend!
