Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Great morning round
Haven’t played Olivas for a while and it did not disappoint. Was one of the first groups out and even after the recent rain, the course was on point. Cart path only that morning but still fun from tee to green. Shots into the greens have to be precise or you have some crazy putts. Can’t wait to return.
Oh and pure genius using hot water for the golf towel bucket!
Fun with Daughter
Course always in Great shape. Staff friendly and helpful
Olivas: Always a nice place to Play. Fairways dormant this time of year
Olivas is a great course and very good value. I've played there a bajillion times. It is sometimes pretty darn slow on weekends, but not enough to keep me from coming back. It's a coastal, links style course etc..see description
.Just writing this to inform about current conditions: Right now (late Dec) the fairway grass is fully dormant (brown, looks dead, but it's not). They've mowed the "wild areas" which they do once or twice a year. So the course is playing easier than usual because balls are rolling further and errant shots are findable. The greens and surrounds are all in good shape and putting is medium fast and true. If anything greens are rolling faster than in Summer. If you're making a special trip I'd come here in Spring or Summer, just to play on the normally lush fairways, but if you're local come on down...even if it's brown.
One small thing. There is no drinking water out on the course. Bring your own. You can refill after 9 as it goes by the parking lot.
Top 3 best public courses!!
It starts from when you check in the staff is just always very pleasant with you. The pace of play is great. Highly recommended you play here one of the top three public courses in my opinion in Ventura county.
Old carts/bad batteries /Junk
All of the carts need batteries and seats,
only 1 of our carts made it for the 18 holes again
It seems every time I play Olivas at least one cart has battery failure. The course is getting a lot of $$ for the carts and they should be able to make for 18 holes and have seats that are not torn Sad !!!!
Carts rattle and shake pull one way or the other
I feel the course should compensate us for using the junk carts. period. We would play more often if the carts were better.

Great Value
It’s hard to beat this course, in terms of value. They go the extra mile to shave the tee boxes the same length as the fairways and green surrounds, so it looks and plays links-y. The bunkers have sand, and the edges are always clean from the sod cutter. I love that stuff. The greens are in great shape, except for the moderate ballmarks that idiot patrons refuse to repair. I think they are building a new clubhouse because rightnow, it’s a mobile home, and the bathroom is something you would see at Coachella, haha. But look beyond that because I am guessing they are temporary. This course, in this shape, with those ocean breezes for these $37 Twilight prices is better than anything I have found within an hour of LA. Credit to the superintendent and their crew.
Love Olivos
Course in excellent condition from T box, to fairways, to greens. Great layout of holes, variety and challenges.
Old carts/ junk carts
The carts age getting older and older each month.
The batteries life is getting shorter and shorter each month. :Almost all of the seats are torn and missing
stuffing. This really takes away from the quality of the golf course.. We a premium for each person to ride and sitting a those carts are not good, not good for the course and certainly not good for the golfers. I noted 4 golf carts being towed in during my 4 hour round.
That sucks! Either get some new carts or charge us less money for the junk carts
great conditions
i’ll be back great layout great conditions. got me out early and no one behind us pushing us
Walk It
Great course if you like links style golf.
Had a blast w/ my group, very helpful and knowledgeable about where to put the ball in play, feel like i shoulda tipped them for pseudo caddying me on my 1st time out here but they’re retired old dudes and they probably don’t need the $$$ anyway but just wanted to play vicariously through me and watch me pound the ball miles and stick it close to flags lol
One downside however is the day i played i saw quite a few golf carts being towed back to the cart barn, it was raining so maybe they couldn’t charge all of them to full battery? Either way very walkable course and the ocean breeze will keep you cool anyway
Just play it!
Best city course I can remember playing - anytime, anywhere. Challenging but fair, with many trickiy pins as well as easy ones. Every green has its quirks, and is an easy walk. Great greens (much better than the Oxnard city courses), and a cools linksy layout. Just a treat to play!.
