Olivas Links Golf Course

About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Fun day at course
Course was in good shape even with all the rain. Staff always friendly and helpful
Notice
A little heads up when booking that nine holes were closed due to flooding and that the greens had just been punched would go a long way
Would not have played or paid for the time
I understand The flooding is out of control but blocking off tee times for people making the turn would be helpful
Was told to wait an hour to have the chance to go back out
Just OK
It wasn't a bad course.
It was challenging enough, but not overly challenging.
Fairways weren't the best, greens were also just OK.
I felt that it was just not up to the price.
Enjoyed the day, BUT
I would have rated this course five stars, but had two out of our two golf carts die on the course. And were held up by the group in front of us because they had one golf cart that also die, and then there replacement cart died before it could finish the round.
GET SOME NEW CARTS THAT RUN.
Great morning round
Haven’t played Olivas for a while and it did not disappoint. Was one of the first groups out and even after the recent rain, the course was on point. Cart path only that morning but still fun from tee to green. Shots into the greens have to be precise or you have some crazy putts. Can’t wait to return.
Oh and pure genius using hot water for the golf towel bucket!
Fun with Daughter
Course always in Great shape. Staff friendly and helpful
Olivas: Always a nice place to Play. Fairways dormant this time of year
Olivas is a great course and very good value. I've played there a bajillion times. It is sometimes pretty darn slow on weekends, but not enough to keep me from coming back. It's a coastal, links style course etc..see description
.Just writing this to inform about current conditions: Right now (late Dec) the fairway grass is fully dormant (brown, looks dead, but it's not). They've mowed the "wild areas" which they do once or twice a year. So the course is playing easier than usual because balls are rolling further and errant shots are findable. The greens and surrounds are all in good shape and putting is medium fast and true. If anything greens are rolling faster than in Summer. If you're making a special trip I'd come here in Spring or Summer, just to play on the normally lush fairways, but if you're local come on down...even if it's brown.
One small thing. There is no drinking water out on the course. Bring your own. You can refill after 9 as it goes by the parking lot.
Top 3 best public courses!!
It starts from when you check in the staff is just always very pleasant with you. The pace of play is great. Highly recommended you play here one of the top three public courses in my opinion in Ventura county.
Old carts/bad batteries /Junk
All of the carts need batteries and seats,
only 1 of our carts made it for the 18 holes again
It seems every time I play Olivas at least one cart has battery failure. The course is getting a lot of $$ for the carts and they should be able to make for 18 holes and have seats that are not torn Sad !!!!
Carts rattle and shake pull one way or the other
I feel the course should compensate us for using the junk carts. period. We would play more often if the carts were better.
