Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Great course, highly recommend
Great course, great condition. We had to deal with some sogginess due to the amount of rain over the last week but course was in good shape even those the grass is dormant right now. I've played just about everywhere in the greater LA area and Olivas is probably Top 3 on the quality/design/value ranking.
Only complaint is that I don't live closer. Would play regularly
Nice links course
Very nice course but the pace of play is extremely slow. The phrase "While we're young" comes to mind often here is what I gathered. Besides that if you are not in a hurry, which you shouldn't be anyway, very enjoyable layout and challenging greens.
Fun course
Always in great condition. Wide fairways, large greens. Prime scoring conditions! Makes for an enjoyable round.
Well worth playing
This c ourse is great for the average golfer. Fine layout in great condition. Plan on a 4.5 to 5 hour round. If your looking for a round with no waiting this is NOT your course. Otherwise worth a try.
Great Links Course
This course is 100% golf oriented. The pro shop is basically a trailer with a snack bar.
Pace was great for the front nine on the weekend. Slowed down a bit once we made the turn.
Course is fun; wide open hard to lose a ball but can be a little tricky with some of the bunker placements. Greens rolled true.
A fine walk.
We played Olivas Links on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 6:44 in the morning as a twosome. We were paired with two singles and our games were well suited as we each shot in the low to mid 80's. Our round was completed at 10:30. A very enjoyable day of golf. The course is lush green. The greens exceptional.
Olivas Links
Played the Blacks (6818/73.0/130) with GK Review Guru's kviser, JohnnyGK & RGM2525 in overcast, calm conditions in the 70's. We enjoyed a relaxed pace of slightly less than 4.5H playing early morning and finishing just before noon.
Excellent course to walk, very flat. Huge putting green that is usually very comparable to the course. Excellent grass driving range complete with a good chipping and sand practice area that they have expanded to include a separate chipping area off to the side of the chipping green.
The tees were lush, nicely maintained. Very few unfixed divots anywhere.
The fairways were lush and firm. Very nice with the few poor areas that were clearly marked as GUR.
The rough around the fairway is mostly lush. Farther off the fairway is mostly hardpan with patches of lost ball rough.
The traps were well maintained and have good quality sand, nice to play from.
The greens were firm, smooth and medium speed. They look good and putted true.
The customer service is always good here. No frills pro shop is in a trailer, minimal food available onsite. NO GPS on carts, usually no drink cart. Excellent value, especially for an above average layout in well above average condition. Definitely recommended.
Olivas Links
Course is in excellent condition, and would love to play this course ever day of my life if I could. What hindered the experience was the pace of play. There was a foursome two groups in front of ours that moved at a snail's pace. They were not elderly, they were just taking their time and not being considerate of the groups behind them. In front of them there were a few holes open. At several holes there were two groups (including ours) waiting for them to tee off and take their second shots. There was no Marshall that came around to keep things moving, so for that reason the experience could have been much better.
Olivas Links
Played the Blacks (6818/73.0/130) as a 3some with Tom & Jerry in overcast, calm conditions in the 70's. We enjoyed a quick 3H, 15M pace as one of the 1st groups out. Got out for $18 w cart on a Teeoff.com special.
The tees are lush, nicely maintained. Very few unfixed divots anywhere.
The fairways are fairly lush and surprisingly soft. The course played long because of the lack of roll today. The few poor areas are clearly marked as GUR.
The rough around the fairway is mostly lush and in spots lost ball thick/tall. Farther off the fairway is mostly hardpan with patches of lost ball rough.
The traps had good quality sand and were nicely maintained.
The greens were also surprisingly soft, maybe the softest I have ever seen them here. They putted medium speed and were fairly smooth. I was constantly short on chips/pitches because the ball was stopping so much more quickly than usual for this layout.
No frills pro shop is in a trailer, minimal food available onsite. NO GPS on carts, usually no drink cart. Excellent grass driving range complete with a good chipping and sand practice area that they have expanded to include a separate chipping area off to the side of the chipping green. Huge putting green that is usually very comparable to the course. Excellent course to walk, very flat. The customer service is always good here. Excellent value, especially for an above average layout in above average condition. Definitely recommended.
Cool Olivas
Nice course, close to the ocean, but with no ocean views. A local favorite. Can't beat it in the summer for nice weather and conditions when the valleys are 100+.
HOT DEAL IS NO DEAL
I reserved 2 spots for 7:16 in the morning thinking that we could get around in a timely manner, no such luck. I showed up and the starter had me down for 4 people and the time was changed to a later time at 7:26. not thinking that would matter much we proceeded toward the first tee where we watched three foursomes go off ahead of us, by the time we were at the fourth hole the first foursome was a complete hole behind. We called it quits when it took 2 hours and 45 minutes for nine holes, HOT DEAL / NO DEAL !!
Beat the heat. Took way too long
FIVE HOURS AND 45 MINUTES.
Olivas Links
Played the Blues (6530/71.6/127) in 4H as a 4some with Manny & his 2 adults sons, Cameron & Phil in sunny, calm conditions in the 70's. Got out for $27 w cart through Teeoff.com. Shout out to their family patriarch for his 72, rarely do I see a guy in his 60's maneuver the ball around 18 holes from the Blues like Manny did today!
Excellent course to walk, very flat.
The tees are nicely maintained. Lush with very few unfixed divots.
The fairways were very nice with few poor areas. Lush and firm.
You better keep it at least in the short ring of maintained rough around the fairways here. The maintained rough around the fairway is mostly lush. The native rough farther off the fairway is mostly hard pan with patches of lost ball rough.
The traps were close to immaculate with plenty of good quality sand.
The greens putted medium to medium fast speed and held irons well. Firm and fairly smooth.
Olivas has minimal food available onsite. The cart person was just beginning to make rounds as we were finishing. No frills pro shop is in a trailer and no GPS on carts. Excellent grass driving range complete with a good chipping and sand practice area that they have expanded to include a separate chipping area off to the side of the chipping green. Huge putting green that is usually very comparable to the course. The customer service is always good here. Excellent value, especially for both a layout & course conditions that are well above average. Easily one of the best city or county run courses I have ever experienced. Definitely recommended.
Great Course!
This was a beautiful course. It was in great condition even with drought conditions. This was my first links-style course and I will defintiely be back. The fairways were excellent. The greens were in great condition. Overall an great experience.
great weather-course in great condition
Normally not a fan of links design but this course was great fun. Just enough rough and bunkers to keep you on your toes but not totally defeat you. The green are however ANOTHER THING! They are huge, some have multiple breaks and all will make you PAY THE PRICE if you don't focus. We had a good afternoon and made some new friends.
Olivas
Played the Blues (6530/71.6/127) as a 2some in 3H, 20 pace as the 1st group out. Played with Tom in sunny, calm conditions in the 70's. Got out for $17 w cart on a Teeoff.com special.
The tees are lush, nicely maintained. Very few unfixed divots.
The fairways were lush and firm. Very nice with few poor areas.
The maintained rough around the fairway is mostly lush. The native rough farther off the fairway is mostly hardpan with patches of lost ball rough.
The traps had good quality sand. Not raked yet today, but still better than average.
The greens were firm, smooth and putted medium to medium fast speed, holding irons well.
No frills pro shop is in a trailer, minimal food available onsite. NO GPS on carts, usually no drink cart. Excellent grass driving range complete with a good chipping and sand practice area that they have expanded to include a separate chipping area off to the side of the chipping green. Great layout
Olivias Links has quickly become one of my favorite courses. It very well maintained, it's green and watered well. Not easy to find a course that is as well maintained as Olivas Links.
Good golf, average service.
This is a good golf course to play.
It always seems to be in good condition, the greens are nice with good speed for the average golfer but they also have a lot slopes, the fairways have good grass and they are wide enough to make the course fun and fair.
Tee boxes are always good.
It also has good practice facilities if you want to work on your game.
The only problems I have is the "clubhouse" facilities and staff.
They don't have a clubhouse, maybe they run out of money but after the round you won't be hanging around for a drink and some food.
And I have never really experienced customer service there.
Very average.
But I go to golf courses to play golf and this is a very good golf course.
Fun to play and speed of play is usually good, about 4 hours.
