Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Olivas is great
Always a beautiful day at Olivas! A challenge for golfers of all levels.
Best course in the LA area
This looks like a pro golf course. Very green, well
trimmed and perfect greens. The course is
maintained at the highest level.

Arrived at approximately 11:30 am on Sunday, August 17. The grass on the practice range was in sad condition. It had a been awhile since I had played this course and based on the range I was concerned. Practice putting greens were in great shape. Starter got us going 15 minutes early at 12:30. The tee boxes were in really good shape, the fairways were awesome and the bunkers had real sand. Putting was fantastic. This is a really nice course and the people that work there take great pride in its condition. The only complaint I have is the range condition. Mats out would have been a better choice that day. Overall I give this course a great rating. Pace of play for 4 people was right on at 4 hours. Pretty good for Sunday afternoon at a public course. I will play Olivas again very soon.
Great Value
This course was very well maintained and seemed like a much more expensive golf course. All the greens and fairways were pristine with soft and well cut grass. Very nice surprise.
Love this course
Was a little windy, a little overcast but the fairways were so lush and soft and no one in sight in front of us. Awesome day great course. So well kept. Look forward to returning
Great Course, terrific staff
Not the first time playing this lovely course by the sea but thought I'd write a review giving kudos to their staff. We were stuck in traffic in the SFV with 2 accidents on the 101 making us miss our tee time by 30 minutes. They got us out quickly without any issue and the course was terrific as usual. If you haven't played it before it's a gem.
Slow
This is a beautiful and well maintained golf course...however...it took 3 hours to play the front nine and that was all I could take. Please golfers...if you can't break 120, then you do not need three practice swings nor to plumb bob your 15 footer for a quad. Golf is a three hour game, but I guess that's what I get for teeing off in the afternoon and not being there at sunrise to be the first one out.
Course is too easy now
They have cut away a lot of brush, trees and widened the fairways, the course has started to play easier and easier over the years. They ruined Hole 15, they cut away all that shrub and tree stuff on the right side of the fence that you had to carry over before. They also cut away too much of the trees to clean up the course but now it's too wide open. But then again, it is a links-style course, so there really shouldn't be too many trees per se, so they might as well cut away and get rid of the tall trees but instead narrow the fairways but leave the long grass and shrub alone. The greens are too soft and slow most of the time, and this time was the same. The driving range is looking worse and worse, terrible balls. I like the layout mostly, it's gone downhill lately. A little pricey for a course that shouldn't require too much maintenance, it's supposedly to be links, it shouldn't be so manicured. We got held up by slow groups ahead of us for a noon tee time, and no marshal came to move the bad group along, and the slow group didn't even turn around.
Great links course
Immaculate condition. Well worth the drive and money
Olivas Likes
We played at 6:44 AM. Great weather, fast play and the course is in extremely good condition.
Great so cal course
Play this, but beware the breeze. Greens fast but fair. Fantastic natural looking course.
Outstanding
I've been playing this course for years and it's always in great condition and I always enjoy it. I played yesterday and couldn't believe how immaculate the condition is. If you haven't played Olivas in a while, do yourself a favor and get out there and play it. My only issues at this course have bee an slow pace of play, but yesterday we played it very fast. (Hmmmm, So on second thought maybe I should keep my mouth shut on how great Olivas is right now)
Starter and cart guy lost
The course conditions are great but it was a complete mess at the start. No help from starter or cart guy I just ended up going to the first tee. No names called so everyone just paired up and played.
Relaxing day on the links
We had a great day at Olivas. The course is very scenic. It can also be very difficult if your tee shot is not in or near the fairway. The greens were nice and they rolled true.
Must play
Course is in great condition tee to green. Played Sunday at noon and done at 3:45. Best links in VTA co.
Beautiful course
This place is in perfect condition. Even the natural areas are well manicured. I can't believe how cheap this place is! Don't expect a lavish clubhouse but who needs that anyway?
No Hackers
Course was in awesome shape. Don't miss the fairways...if you do, fill the cooler with beer at the turn. Replace your divots and use the sand as THIS course IS the best in the county. Be respectful and WHILE WE ARE YOUNG...it's a $2.00 ball. Drop and get out of my way because I will hit into you again. No hackers. Go to Buena dog track. This is real golf. Be back soon. Done wasting my $ at other courses. This is my new he course.
A fair challenging test of golf
Olivas Links is in perfect shape and can be challenging when the wind blows. Its a very fair test of golf with no gimmickry around the greens except the green design of #4, a little too extreme. Best deal around for the price, conditions, and beauty. I love this course and I am selfish, so stay away from this gem.
