Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

Nice "links" style course
Really enjoyed course. Great shape, tees ,fairways, and greens all good. Teed off at 1:30 and by end of day, greens got tracked up and bumpy. Fairways provide tight lies. Great value thru golf now...thanks golf now for providing good courses for good prices. Also thanks to golfers that leave reviews, very important when deciding where to play. Not much of pro shop, but you are here to play golf right...
Links course, great shape fairways and greens
Best value in Ventura county coast. Prevailing on shore wind makes afternoon more challenging.
Best value for golf in Ventura County!
This is pure golf without the frills. Great links style walking course. The course is in tremendous condition (unlike a very over rated seaside links just north of Santa Barbara that charges more than twice the rates) and greens are rolling nice and smooth. Be prepared that there isn't much of a clubhouse and extensive pro shop. Just tee it up and enjoy straight forward golf.
Good course, slow pace of play
Have not played here for over a year because last time I played is was 5-1/2 hour round. Well the course was a great shape, surprised how nice condition the fairways were in, the problem again was slow play. And it appeared just to be a few groups that were holding pace a play up. I had to walk off after 11 holes because of pace of play.
Great Links Course
Really enjoy this track. Beautiful Links style course with some tricky greens. Close to the ocean brings winds and changing weather that makes you adjust during the round. Worth the trip from LA - I would recommend walking though - you get a better feel for the course and it is an easy walk. Didn't care about the lack of food and drink - I am happy they put all their money into the course.
Olivas Links is one of my fvorites
As the name implies...a links course. It's deceptively wide open. The course is visually wide-open that you think that you can over power it. WRONG!! You have to pick your battles carefully. You can be rewarded with smart choices off the tee, but if you make a mistake, you can lose your ball in the deep grass of the enivonmentally sensitive areas. If you've never played the course before, play from the white tees. It shortens the course, but the greens will be the challenge.
great course and excellent price
The course is in great condition with a great layout and very reasonable rate
As true a links as you'll find at this price
A windy day and ultra firm and fast conditions combined to make this the most linksy course we've played outside of Scotland. Way more fun than most SoCal courses and an opportunity to try shots you wouldn't ordinarily have to—like, say, a 210-yard three-wood never more than 10 feet off the ground to stay under the wind . Highly recommended.
its a walkers course
lots of walkers playing golf.nobody is thinking of pace of play. so if u have the patience to ride behind a bunch of walkers this course is for u. there should be a cut off time for walkers because days are short now. if you start after 1pm forget it. it should be 9 hole prices after 1
Enjoyed the course looking forward to playing a second time.
Very walkable course. Played from the white tees which are quite a ways forward from back tres. Greens, fairways and tees were in great condition.
Like Scotland golf
Fun course to play. Like being in Scotland (Never been thogh)
Have played other "link courses" and this was fun. Look forward to playing it again, next time we are in that area.. Lots of "bump and run" and putting from 15 yds off green. A good change cmpared to the normal golf I play.
Amazing and beautiful Links
Great course with strategic bunkering and multiple undulated fast greens. Great customer service in the pro shop and on the course.
good day
Fun course called a links style but not really, raised. Greens and soft aprons makes it impossible to bounce your approach shot, greens were soft enough to except a well hit shot, and were about a10. The only negative was no restaurant.
One of the greatest course i have ever played.
It was my 3rd time playing here and most enjoyable. Fairway, tee box, and green...so excellent. Staff was super friendly. Definitely i will come back soon again.
Excellent course to play
I played Olivas Links course recently. i was amazed at the condition of this course. You could not tell the tee boxes from the fairways or the green. I could not believe it. The layout is challenging and you must keep the ball in the fairway! The only problem was it took 5 hours to play. I think the main reason is that the Management puts the different groups too close together. That coupled with the constant search parties looking for their balls is very frustrating. Olivas would be close to perfect if they could at least fix the first problem. The Marshalls need to do more to increase pace of play.
Always a fun round
From the first round I played here I knew this was going to be a favorite golf course. Conditions are always very good, the wind can throw you a curveball but this is what i like about the course.
Course was in great shape. The tees were level and almost like greens. Fairways were full with few thin spots.
Greens are well maintained. Will go back soon. Only fault was that it seems most players there don't fix their ball marks. Starter should remind players prior to teeing off the fix ball marks and rake traps.
early morn golf
we booked a 6.52 am tee time and was worried about the fog in oxnard, but it was like heaven. The fairways were perfect and the greens felt like the Master Champion. Loved it and will be back soon with these great prices.
NIce course, professional staff
Olivas Links is a top course in the Ventura County area. Right from the start I was greeted by a friendly and professional staff in the pro shop which got me quickly checked in and to my cart. They actually had a starter working on Tuesday which was great. It is nice to have a starter and they had a good one working that day. He was friendly and let me know exactly what was going on. The course was busy and I could tell they were getting a bit behind on the tee times; the starter let me know that as well. I had not played Olivas in a couple of months, because the last time I played it was a little slow as well. I am not sure if I have ever got in a less than 5 hour round there. But that is okay, I was prepared for that. As for the course it was in great shape. I love the fairways at this course. If you keep the ball low and in the fairway it will run good distances for you. Be prepared to battle some winds, especially for later tee times. I think that could be one reason this course plays a little slow. Players battling winds and too many people teeing off from the blue and black tees that really should not be. I think from the blues it is 6500, but with so many holes going against the wind I would have to say it plays closer to 7000. There are 2 really tough par 3's into the wind and then two par 5's into the wind that I thought played tough. Hole 2 is a 512 yard par 5 we were playing directly into some stiff wind, nobody in our group reached the green in regulation and they were ok players. Same thing for the par 5 14th. If you can get an early round with some calm winds it is probably a course that could give up some low numbers to average players. The only thing that kept me giving this course five stars was the pace of play and the fact that they were behind on the tee times, but I understand that this happens in golf especially when a course is busy. If you shoot in the mid 80s or higher I see no reason to tee from anything other than the whites at this course. You will have plenty of into wind shots to make up the difference in yardage in my opinion. Tee it forward. Pace of play.
