Olivas Links Golf Course
About
Situated along the Ventura Harbor overlooking the Santa Clara River, Olivas Links (formerly known as Olivas Park Golf Course) enjoys coastal breezes that make it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, providing perfect conditions for golf year-round. The golf course has a links-style layout that closely follows the natural swales and curves of the landscape and separated by bands of fescue and wild grasses. The course is mostly open but there are some large pine trees scattered throughout. Its seaside location subjects the golf course to strong winds, especially on the front nine. The challenging layout offers multi-tiered greens and contoured mounding along the fairways. There are also deep bunkers strategically placed throughout Olivas Links, but the openness of the course places a stronger emphasis on hitting the right spot on the fairway or getting the correct angle of approach to the green rather than avoiding the bunkers.

good day
Fun course called a links style but not really, raised. Greens and soft aprons makes it impossible to bounce your approach shot, greens were soft enough to except a well hit shot, and were about a10. The only negative was no restaurant.
One of the greatest course i have ever played.
It was my 3rd time playing here and most enjoyable. Fairway, tee box, and green...so excellent. Staff was super friendly. Definitely i will come back soon again.
Excellent course to play
I played Olivas Links course recently. i was amazed at the condition of this course. You could not tell the tee boxes from the fairways or the green. I could not believe it. The layout is challenging and you must keep the ball in the fairway! The only problem was it took 5 hours to play. I think the main reason is that the Management puts the different groups too close together. That coupled with the constant search parties looking for their balls is very frustrating. Olivas would be close to perfect if they could at least fix the first problem. The Marshalls need to do more to increase pace of play.
Always a fun round
From the first round I played here I knew this was going to be a favorite golf course. Conditions are always very good, the wind can throw you a curveball but this is what i like about the course.
Course was in great shape. The tees were level and almost like greens. Fairways were full with few thin spots.
Greens are well maintained. Will go back soon. Only fault was that it seems most players there don't fix their ball marks. Starter should remind players prior to teeing off the fix ball marks and rake traps.
early morn golf
we booked a 6.52 am tee time and was worried about the fog in oxnard, but it was like heaven. The fairways were perfect and the greens felt like the Master Champion. Loved it and will be back soon with these great prices.
NIce course, professional staff
Olivas Links is a top course in the Ventura County area. Right from the start I was greeted by a friendly and professional staff in the pro shop which got me quickly checked in and to my cart. They actually had a starter working on Tuesday which was great. It is nice to have a starter and they had a good one working that day. He was friendly and let me know exactly what was going on. The course was busy and I could tell they were getting a bit behind on the tee times; the starter let me know that as well. I had not played Olivas in a couple of months, because the last time I played it was a little slow as well. I am not sure if I have ever got in a less than 5 hour round there. But that is okay, I was prepared for that. As for the course it was in great shape. I love the fairways at this course. If you keep the ball low and in the fairway it will run good distances for you. Be prepared to battle some winds, especially for later tee times. I think that could be one reason this course plays a little slow. Players battling winds and too many people teeing off from the blue and black tees that really should not be. I think from the blues it is 6500, but with so many holes going against the wind I would have to say it plays closer to 7000. There are 2 really tough par 3's into the wind and then two par 5's into the wind that I thought played tough. Hole 2 is a 512 yard par 5 we were playing directly into some stiff wind, nobody in our group reached the green in regulation and they were ok players. Same thing for the par 5 14th. If you can get an early round with some calm winds it is probably a course that could give up some low numbers to average players. The only thing that kept me giving this course five stars was the pace of play and the fact that they were behind on the tee times, but I understand that this happens in golf especially when a course is busy. If you shoot in the mid 80s or higher I see no reason to tee from anything other than the whites at this course. You will have plenty of into wind shots to make up the difference in yardage in my opinion. Tee it forward. Pace of play.
A gem of a links course.
I played with my son and a friend from the S. Cal area. We all really enjoyed the course. Fairways and greens in really good shape. The areas outside of the rough are difficult and depend on your lie. My friend had recently played in Scotland and said he thought the course reminded him of Carnoustie. Wind plays a major factor on this course but it's a fair test and you must be hitting from the fairways to score well.
this nice golf course in summer
nice links golf course. just do something to that trailer club house.
Great Links style course. Next to Ventura Harbor, so it's cool in the hot summer
One of my top 5 favorite Links style courses in the USA. It's next to the ocean so you have the cool on-shore breeze most of the day. The course is ALWAYS in very good condition, If people would just fix their DIVOTS, it would be in GREAT shape. Four sets of tee boxes challenges all golfer's. If they had a 16th Century Castle near the course you'd think that you were in Scotland. Played 18 in 4.25 hrs at 2:00pm with a cart on a Sunday for
$35.00per, thru Golf Now.Com You can't beat that
Very enjoyable course
This was my first time at Olivas Links, and I definitely will be returning. It is a fun links layout, the fairways are in excellent shape for the amount of play, and many of the holes are very challenging. We played early in the morning, so there was little wind to contend with; but I could see that if you add 10-20 mph crosswinds to many of the holes, it could get very difficult.
My only criticism was that many of the greens had many unrepaired ballmarks on them; but even then they rolled well. Also, the course was a little hard to see from the road-it would help newcomers if there were a large sign out there.
This was one of the most enjoyable rounds I've played in quite a while.
One of the best days of golf that I have had in a long time, Great course, friends, services. This is an A++++++++ Go Play!!

The tee boxes were perfect, the greens were running true, the fairways very nice (you need to be in them), the buckers were wet sand but it was mourning (and I only ended up in 1). In ventura county this course is a go play course, top 2. The only thing they could use here is a true club house, but ventura is to cheap to do that.
This course is great. Challenging yet fair.
I have played olivas links around 10 times now and I get a new challenge each time. The wind was really blowing this time which made holes more challenging then normal. But the course was in great condition.
A real challenge.
Beautiful features. Cool climate, when everywhere else was hot, I was debating about putting on my jacket. Some very tough holes. I last played here a few years ago and the course conditions are better. I had 10 to 15 more strokes than I wanted. Greens very good but deceptively slow.
course in great condition
fairways and greens in great shape, course layout very good. pace of play a little slow.
Good links course including wind
Good links course. Good shape for a Muny. Wind can be a factor in the pm.
Wrongly charged few
On July 9 at 2 pm, I went to Olivas links golf with my other friend.
And I know that it normally costs 29 dollars per person,
But they charged me and my friend 34 dollars per person.
How can I get refund?
Perfect Summer escape from Inland-Valley Heat!
Course was the best shape in the last 4 years. Fairways were green, green, green, well manicured, and played great! Greens are tricky, but fair, and roll well.
I'll come back more than 4 more times this summer -
great layout design
this course is both a shot makers course an the average players course. with wide fairways, moderate sand traps, large fast rolling greens. would definatly be returning for more rounds.
