Very good golf challenge for all golfers
If you get a chance to play this course take it you will not be disappointed
A must play when I'm the Niagara region
One of the best courses in Southern Ontario. Through golfnow hot deal we where able to play at less than half price "outstanding value". Early spring conditions were great fast greens .
Sloppy round
We played after 3 days or rain. Although I didnt expect great conditions, the amount of standing water it fairways is not what I had expected either! I must say that putts rolled exceptionally true given the amount of rain we had. Lies around fairway traps are definitley challenging, probably better off being in them! Course layout is pretty good, however it is a really flat course. I would definitley like to play it again, but in dryer conditions.
Still in great shape!
Even after many days of rain and not warm temps this course is still in great shape. Greens are quick and rolling great.
another fine day at g niag
everything from pro shop and marshalls was excellent. 4 of us playing with nobody in front , about the 6th hole some busybody who it turned out was in the 4-some behind us somewhere, made it his mission to come up to us and tell us we were 2 holes behind ! he wasnt a marshall but had the handicap flag on his cart so we just thanked him.
Wow!
A great layout with fabulous fairways, greens and bunkers. Genuinely friendly staff. Played late Oct and the course was pristine. A great golf value for your dollar.
My most favourite course to play
I would become a member of this course without hesitation if I could get 4 of us to join as well.....I am retired and they not yet.....
Greens were spectacular!
Course is in great shape for this time of year.
Excellent course
It has been at least 10 years since I played here the last time and it was worth the trip from Buffalo, NY to play. It was drizzling rain when I parked my car and I was greeted at my car as a staff member drove a cart to my car and loaded my clubs for me. I was a single and I was paired with a 3-some who ended up being a great group of guys to golf with. The course offers many teeing grounds to choose from depending on your abilities. It was windy the day I played and the wind made every shot seem 1 to 2 clubs longer. I thought the fairways were lush and you can tell they are watered properly. The greens were quick and rolled true as should be expected from this track. Play smart and stay close to the fairways because if you stray too far, the ball is tough to find in the thick and wispy tall grass. Overall, an enjoyable round of golf on a course that offers a stern but fair challenge.
High Class Track
Having not played the course for a couple of years I was mildly surprised to discover that they had reversed the two nines, however given that the two nines feel like they are on separate pieces of property I think the new routing makes sense. You now finish at the clubhouse, instead of across the road.
Staff at bag drop were friendly and loaded the cart for us; bottled water was provided. Check-in was quick and efficient in the pro shop. One of the better ranges awaits across the road, natural grass tees, loads of balls and club cleaning all there.
Starter was nice, gave us extra water and put us on our way. As a twosome we caught two groups within the first six holes, both of which moved us through.
Course is in excellent condition, they had a large amount of rainfall overnight, but the only way you would know it is from the spray off the wheels while driving the fairways. Most courses would have been cart-path, but not here. Sand traps had been groomed, but were quite firm due to the rain. Not the course's fault, mother nature.
Grand Niagara is a very pretty course; Rees Jones loves the large bunker complexes and mounding around the greens. Speaking of greens, these were like a pool table. Fast and true - best I have played on all year.
My only complaint might be the price; I believe every golfer should play this track however the price point may prevent some crom doing so. I certainly know that I will be back.

We thank you for the great and thorough review. Your comments were similar to the ones we heard from the field playing in the Sr. Amateur Championship last week. The course has never been better and Mother Nature continues to provide us good weather. The Fall Season is a GREAT time to play. We know we will see you back

Great Course in Tip Top Condition
We played this course last year and it was just as good. Despite heavy rains in the evening and morning, the course was still in excellent condition and the greens were almost flawless. The only real issue was the traps, which were very gravelly and very hard after the rain. This is a terrific golf course in great shape. It was well rangered and pace of play was excellent.
jkavazanjian,
We thank you for your recent post. Rain measuring 1.5 inches in 20 minutes did our bunkers no favours last week. Course is back in top condition. A good test for the field participating in the 2016 Men's Sr Amateur- hosted by Golf Canada. Round 2 being contested today.

This course is a "must play"
The course was in perfect condition and the greens were absolutely true. This course plays longer than the yardage. Take an extra club on all the carries. The wind will surprise you.
Great Day at the Grand Niagara
Great time had by all in my foursome throughout the round. Pace of play was 4 hours and we were never waiting for the group ahead of us. No one up our butt pushing us, so we felt as if we OWNED THE PLACE. LOL. Staff were friendly and the Green Staff were courteous and mindful there were golfers trying to golf and they kept their distance and noise to a minimum.
Top Shelf Everything
From the course itself, to the friendliness of the staff, to the facilities and carts, this place is the best!!! Lots of staff attention, including bringing your electric cart to your car while you are parking and getting ready, and getting it from you in the lot after so you don't have to take it back, a good primer from the starter, readiness and friendliness in the pro shop, good communication with hand-helds between all the staff. Attention to detail reigns here!!! And that includes the course. Multiple sets of tees, perfect cutting (though no first cut of rough on some holes...surprising) to the dialed-in pin distances (not 100% accurate), the truest rolling greens I've played on in the last few years, great conditioning, and great layout. Look for deals on GN and grab them if available. But even for 60 bucks US, you won't be disappointed.
Fun track
The course has a good layout and was in good shape. The only knock was the greens were not as fast as I would have expected from a premium public course.
Speed up these greens and this course would rival the top private clubs in the region.

We checked with our Superintendent. A wetting agent applied to our greens made them a little 'sticky' and a tad slower than normal.
Let us know their speed your next time back

WOW!!
Well worth the drive to get here. Had played here a couple years ago and loved it. Should have come back before now. The maintenance staff do an awesome job!! From tee to green the course is in fantastic shape! If I were from the area, I would play here every time I go golfing. Greens are in great shape and run true. Pick the right tees for you and you can score well. Friendly, helpful staff, especially Tabi in the restaurant and Farantina on the bar cart! A totally enjoyable experience, with no complaints... a rare occasion!
Billbuzzie,
Posts like yours get the staff PUMPED-UP! The addition of the GREEN TEES let's the golfer experience Grand Niagara at his/her comfort level. Five (5) distinct yardages to choose from. We hope to see you the 1st week in September as we host the 2016 Men's Sr. Amateur Championship conducted by Golf Canada. Enjoy the weekend!

terrain impeccable
"Grand" for a Reason
This course doesn't appear on the "Top ###" list for no reason, this is hands down the most immaculate course in Niagara.
Pros:
> The Staff
> The Tee Boxes (all are level and lush)
> The Fairways (as green as a Crayola crayon)
> The Greens (healthy, in great condition, minimal ball marks, true, fast and CHALLENGING)
Cons:
> Some bunkers are in need of some TLC
> New yardage book. I liked the old yardage book that had 1 hole / page, not this current version which has a higher focus on advertising than customer assistance.
> Stopped for a burger after finishing our 1st round and before starting our 2nd round of the day. Price a bit steep for a burger ($11). I pay premium green fees if the course is quality conditions, and the same goes for food. I just don't think the burger and fries were worth $11. The staff are phenomenal though. She even gave me tips on the Olympic Rugby match on tv.
Good Morning Ernest1975,
Thank you for your recent post. We do forward all comments to Management and look to improve where we can. Fair warning when it comes to Rugby. Should a BIG game be televised- our 'Tabi' could be a little engaged! (LOL). We hope to see you back in 2016.

Day of Play.
Beautiful layout and condition. Only downfall are the sand traps as no soft sand to ply out if you are in there. Other than the staff are cortex us and friendly. The course itself is in superb condition. Greens are fast.
Hello Joe1889301,
We thank you for your recent post. Turf staff are BUSTING IT looking to complete repairs while adding new sand to the remaining bunkers on the golf course. The majority will be completed in time for the Sr. Amateur this September. We hope to see you back!
