Battlefield Golf Club at Centerville

Battlefield Golf Course is in very good condition, especially the greens, and it plays very well for all levels of golfers. It is a reasonably priced facility and well maintained.

Good rain yesterday, great conditions today’s. Greens were quick and fairways were prime.

This is a local treasure. A true links style course here in Hampton roads.

Great round of golf. It was kinda hot but I guess you can’t control that. Plenty of water (to drink).

This course is well laid out in in really good condition apart from a couple of greens which had some bare patches. Not sure what caused that as the greens, for the most, were very good. Unfortunately, heavy rain and thunder curtailed our round after hole 12.

Overall the course was good to play. I won’t complain paying for a decent course. I will return to play again. Fairways were a little overgrown and the greens were fuzzy. They were mowing the course during the round. Course layout is somewhat difficult to follow and only a few holes have distance to the green on approach shots. Bring a rangefinder or have an app downloaded so you can see what the distance left is. Staff was nice very nice.

My brother-in-law from Oregon and. I (from England) played this course on two baking hot days back to back. We found the course well maintained, fair and made challenging and interesting by excellent water hazards. It is also darn good value for money. The thing that stood out for me though was the friendliness and good humour of the staff. When we had finished our first round and we’re trying to get a cab back to Virginia Beach, the team in the clubhouse could not have been more helpful or hospitable.
