SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club
About
Located in the North Tucson area, SaddleBrook Ranch Golf Club borders the Santa Catalina Mountains. The course meanders through the high Sonoran desert, incorporating natural washes into the design and providing stunning mountain views from almost every hole. Abundant desert flora and fauna further enhance the rugged, gently rolling terrain. The golf course offers a mix of challenging holes and player-friendly features, resulting in a layout with several interesting risk-reward opportunities that will appeal to low and high handicappers equally. The player-friendly fairways are generous, allowing beginners to feel comfortable with ample room off the tees and rewarding thoughtful play. There are also carefully placed mounds, hollows, and bunkers along the large, receptive greens that provide opportunities to recover an errant shot. The golf course is made even more versatile with five different sets of tees.

Course being redesigned
I have played this course a few times and have always enjoyed playing it. Some of the holes are being redesigned this year making playing a full par 72 course into a "I don't know a par 68" I will say the greens are in great shape and I love putting on them.
The Ranch is maturing into a true gem
I’ve been playing Saddle Brook Ranch from the time it was servicing folks out of a trailer. It’s truly maturing into a great little track and definitely worth driving 20 minutes north of Tucson. The staff is always friendly, and the amenities are plentiful including a bar and grill that is modern, great bar, and truly great food. Would love to play a stroke event here.
Good track
Play there regularly. Due to repairs #1 & 10 shortened from par 5's to 100yd par 3's. Course in good shape, greens role nice. Wide fairways. Unfortunately, pro shop staff need an attitude adjustment and there is no on course refreshment cart.
Saddlebrook 16 and 2 halfs
Course was in good shape.... except for number 1 and 10. Did not allow for proper play. Both par 5 holes turned into par 3 for work on them. Would have been nice to know.
Coming back!
Course is in pretty good shape, greens are excellent fairways mostly good. Playing 1 and 10 as 100 yard par threes until the overseed so it plays to a par 68. Bunker work is done. Lot of fun to play.
Defer playing Saddlebrooke Ranch for awhile
Fairways are in rough shape. Lots of restored turf around the greens, that's not fully established. Greens are fine. 2 par 5s converted to par 3s while they restore fairways. Wait for a few months to play here, by then course should be in good shape. They're working on it, plenty of groundskeepers in evidence.
Could be better
Didn't get off to a good start first with the staffer when checking in then the first hole under repair wasn't good either. However I was paired with three other players which were great and made the day enjoyable despite the early disappointment. Once the maintenance work is completed the course will very good and will look forward to playing here again, I hold no hope for the staffer.
It was cartpath only. They have lost a lot of their fairways lotta brown areas in the fairways. Sorry
Robo1
Course was undergoing bunker sodding and bunker drainage work and fairway Burmuda fairway promotion practices. Pro shop should have advised 2 holes were closed. Now not a good value. Generally layout is good. Marshall was courteous, pace of play good and beautiful clubhouse but course not in good condition! Wait till the fall to play!
Golf course is usually i pristien condition but it is in terrible shape dont know what happened
17 holes
Course is in poor condition, fairways are dead.
They are doing bunker renovations so during the week they close one hole ,plus #1 is playing as 100 yard par 3.
Almost makes it a 16 hole golf course.
On a positive note the greens are in fine shape.
Because of the other issues I would play elsewhere until they get a handle on their fairways and have 18 holes.
Saddle Brooke Ranch
Course was in terrible shape just done aerating and scalped the fairways and wet because trying to get the grass back. Half the sand traps under repair!! Was told that one hole was unplayable and then #1 was reduced from a par5 to a 100 yard. Par3!!!! Nobody at Golf Now said anything about how bad it was!!! Will not go back!
A complete disaster of a golf course
The only reason I knew they were working on the course was my brother who lives at the Ranch forwarded a email saying the first fairway was closed for repairs and it would play as a par three instead of a par five. When I got there I also found out the sixth hole was completely closed. What nobody told me was that most of the fairways were all dirt and no grass. This course is so poor right now that they should pay us to golf there! I gave it a single star only because a lower rating was not an option.
Bad Shape!
If you hit your drive in the fairway, know that it will be brown dead grass with barely a green blade to be found. The ‘rough’ is butchered down to about 3/4 inch while the fairways are butchered down to the roots. Maybe they don’t know you don’t cut grass super short when it is hot out? I dunno. But $20 was about $19 more than it is worth. Need someone that understands the area as this is the second year in a row it looks like dead barren landscape.
The course needs rain... and much better management.
The fairways have all beeen scalped {excessivelyt} in anticipation of the arrival of the Monsoon. The frst fairway {apar 5} is being redone so now plays as a par 3 giving the course a rating of 70 vs 72.
We teed off at 7, the first tee time of the day, but sadly the proshop sent a bunch of folks off on the back nine instead of the front and we ran into a wall of bozo's starting on 11. We managed to play throough several groups and after waiting quite a while broke through the nonsense and managed to finish our round but the delays were ridiculous and totally unnecessary.... Arrrg!
They will start redoing 23 of the sandtraps later this week and this will dramatically impact the playability of this course for at least a couple of weeks.
Hopefully in a couple of weeks the course will get back to playable but for now {sadly} it is not worth the effort. This time of year course conditions are absurd but once the Monsoon kicks in and repairs are finally made it may get back to playable... well, maybe... sigh.
Good experience.
Just enough challenges to make it interesting and enjoyable. The grill/bar/ restaurant is very nice and the food was outstanding. Great view in all directions.
